How Siddhis bring about Enlightenment

Many in here despise the use of Siddhis. But today, I am going to highlight the use of one common Siddhi possessed by too many spiritual practitioners world-wide which will aid in the enlightenment process.

 

Quite a few seekers have been trapped by the mara of lust. Yet when one develops the power of Remote Viewing and see the ugly side of humans when they defecate, curse, swear or if they can RV how the human body grows older and uglier as time grows by, then these viewings would aid in curbing the lust of man.

 

Some powerful viewers are even able to see two skeletons complete with organs making love to each other whenever they see pornography. They literally have x-ray eyes.

I don't think people here despise Siddhis. Some of us have taken to heart the belief that Siddhis can be enticing traps along the way that ensnare and take you away from the main path. In that point of view, Siddhis are neutral, neither grasped or ran away from, just nice mile stones on the Way.

 

Personally I think developing Siddhis is fine, but it shouldn't become a distraction or ego trip, and thats very tempting.

 

 

Also I don't need Remote Viewing to see the ugly side of humans. I have the internet . But I don't use it that way. I like looking at beautiful woman. I'd hate to look at a sexy body and think about shit. Yuck, I like my sexuality. The fact that its fleeting means I need to take advantage of it Now. Indeed, there might not be sex or beer in heaven.

 

I understand its a classical method of teaching young monks to control there carnal desire, but I'm married, I have a better outlet. Nothing wrong with doing what comes naturally, as long as it doesn't hurt hurt others or make too much noise.

 

I'm clearly on the house holders path. I have great respect for masters who are in loving relationships. Its has its distractions, but having a close partner keeps you honest.

It depends on which heaven, as there are many, but there's sex in Indraloka or Tushitaloka (this is basically pleasure heaven where most spiritual seekers go to reap the fruits of their seeking for a time, who knows how long, it's a different dimension), but there's no beer there. This information is not just from scripture for me.

The siddhis worth having are the ones that further your path when you otherwise would not. Probably the ones that focus you on the exterior world would distract more than help you along the path, unless you have already the maturity or bhakti to handle a siddhi like x-ray vision, and can parlay that into furthering your path. At the end of the day, you sit down and meditate, qigong,etc., siddhi or no siddhi, is going to be the best outcome.
