alect Posted June 21, 2011 My head feels like a damned battery. I can feel absurd amounts of energy up there. It's like a sun. I have great difficulties moving this down, it's beginning to really be obnoxious, and gets in the way of enjoying my life. I feel nervous, and like I can't function. It's almost as though it's causing me to float above the earth. I tell my mind to shut up, quiet, whatever, and I can do that. It's quite pleasant. But I now know for a fact that it's not just mental and I really do have a lot of energy up there. It's been this way ever since I had a hallucinogenic experience. I've been able to ground but it just keeps refilling, through the top of my head. I've spent hours a day exercising; this helps to keep me up with the speed of my brain, but overall I end up right back where I was. My body is having a hard time dealing with the energy. I have a hard time doing Qi Gong because I get ridiculous spasms that make it hard to even finish executing a move. Fully relaxing is almost like inviting a seizure, without the fear and paranoia, just the convulsions. I quit smoking marijuana for awhile and when I came back to it, it made me realize just how fast I'm moving. Sometimes I don't even know how manage to do it. Every once and awhile it's magnificent; I feel like I'm flying and everything is so clear and beautiful. Other times I feel wretched, like I'm twisting into myself. I enjoy the tingling sensations in my brain and the fuzziness and all the pleasant sensations in my body, but I get so tired of how powerful it feels in my mind and just how uncomfortable it makes me and other people. Should I just let myself have a big ol spaz fest and maybe it'll even out? Acupuncture? A shaman? Some other symptoms I have are moments of communication with spirits and animals, usually brief, sometimes vivid dreams, the ability to exit my body and travel the space I'm in; I also get moments where extremely dark energy comes and holds me down to the bed/ground and I get feelings of terror. Eventually I'll find myself standing in the middle of the woods or what looks like some sort of ancient brick road and I'm looking at the stars and there's a big ol' winged beast in front of me that looks like a gargoyle. This has happened quite a few times. I see energy, looks like heat waves or shimmery fields around people and inside of people. And perhaps one of the strangest things is sometimes pictures or things like that take on the quality of what I'm feeling. Pictures of people will smile or frown or look scared when I look at them sometimes. I find this to be the strangest of all, and something that I'm probably just projecting. I know that if I went to a psychiatrist or therapist for all this they would probably diagnose me as schizophrenic. I don't want noneadat. However a lot of these things go away when I spend a lot of time on the computer/away from nature. Hm..

Should I just let myself have a big ol spaz fest and maybe it'll even out? Acupuncture? A shaman? Â Try a sitting meditation where you just sit cross legged and rest your palms on your thighs, straight back, neck arms and shoulders. This is a sort of warrior posture and feels very "this is where I am and I'm not movin'" Â Don't follow any thoughts or feelings, just relax, let energies flow and don't focus too much. Just let things be and breath out any tensions, while breathing in good clean air to clean you out. Â Your brain should relax and so should some of the tension in your head. Â Sit for at least 20 minutes like this. Â Â Â Some other symptoms I have are moments of communication with spirits and animals, usually brief, sometimes vivid dreams, the ability to exit my body and travel the space I'm in; I also get moments where extremely dark energy comes and holds me down to the bed/ground and I get feelings of terror. Â I think for the most part you're experiencing this because you want to experience this, whether you realize it or not. Recognize that this is just your mind playing tricks on you, and let it go. It's happening because you messed with psychedelics in probably a negligent way and you'll have to deal with the after effects. They may go on for a while but it's important to recognize the illusions for what they are. "Crazy is when you talk back to the voices." Â You also ought to ground yourself with the above mentioned exercise so that you have more command of your emotional reaction and response, build some internal flexibility so these feelings don't take you around.. Â The same as with thoughts in the meditation, don't follow them. If they come in, just let them pass through until you are back to the open and natural awareness of Emptiness (empty like the cloudless sky, not the deep dark well). fiveelementtao Posted June 22, 2011 I don't know all of what may be causing your situation, so I agree that it is a good idea to see an acupuncturist or a qualified medical qigong specialist. Having said that, it definitely sounds like you need alot of grounding. Here is a meditation that has been very helpful for me in grounding my energies... However a lot of these things go away when I spend a lot of time on the computer/away from nature. Hm.. Â The smile on pictures is just because you are closer to a subconcious or dream state while you are waking. Like in dreams, or lucid dreams, pictures form and morph along with your thoughts. So your eyes are scanning a head, and then creating a picture with the data in your bio-computer. Its nothing. Same happens to me when I meditate and then go out and see signs that seem to change words. Â The ghoulish guy in a forest is probably similar type thing, a pathway created by your subconscious, maybe in childhood, of the fear of being alone in the deep forest. Once the path starts, it will end up at the beast, and the triggers may be numerous. But I am just guessing. Maybe you can pray to a deity to help clear you of any beasties, just to make sure. Â So you took drugs, and was doing spiritual practise and got accelerated results, and now you are having trouble adjusting to all the energy. What you describe is likely you had an opening, and now the spiritual energies are rushing, helping you as fast as they can to clear out and create your energy body channels to support the new situation. As you can see, the mind can only control a little amount of a certain kind of energy, not the kind thats doing the work in your head. Good thing for that, because you wouldnt be making progress otherwise.

joeblast Posted June 27, 2011 Also perhaps check out some of my posts regarding breathing & anatomy - focusing your awareness on the physical mechanisms of breath is a great way to divert that rampant thought-habit-energy; center it harmoniously and relax, feel comfortable in it. If your energy returns to the thought-form-habit-path, as soon as you notice it, simply return the focus to the physical mechanism. Â And Smile

devoid Posted June 28, 2011 Hi alect, Â Lots of good posts and advice here already. Â On top of that I can tell you that I used to have a similar issue when I was learning the fire fist of Xingyiquan (and as a consequence training it repeatedly). The feeling is that the energy rises and clouds the mind: As a result one looses control of concentration as irritation and anxiety sets in. Â When I told my instructor about this he taught me reverse abdominal breathing. It has helped me tremendously since. As we have a language barrier between us he showed me the following: He asked me to put my hands and press on his belly (Bottom of my palms just below his bellow his belly button area and fingers up around his abdomen (the muscular belt just below the rib cage). With his alignments in place (spine straight, head so that one could theoretically carry a water-filled tea-cup saucer and the sacrum slightly tucked in - pretty much as fiveelementao suggested along with the grounding techniques also displayed so well), his tongue at his palate, and mouth closed, my teacher exhaled with the sound of dog as it finally lays its head on the floor to rest. At this stage, I felt all the muscles in his belly and abdomen contract / tighten: only the abdomen withdrew while the lower belly was being pushed forward and slightly downwards into my hands around the dantian area - i.e. some inches below the belly button. Â It takes some time to get used to this practice, but it is extremely rewarding and helps further ground you and will certainly help you return excess energy in your head to your lower dantien - or even out through your feet and palms into the ground, if you prefer not to undertake reverse abdominal breathing (i.e. only contracting the abdomen while not forcing your belly to expand). Non Posted July 5, 2011 (edited) I don't know all of what may be causing your situation, so I agree that it is a good idea to see an acupuncturist or a qualified medical qigong specialist. Having said that, it definitely sounds like you need alot of grounding. Here is a meditation that has been very helpful for me in grounding my energies... Â my qigong teacher told me this is (the first breathing exercise in the video) just normal "Chinese breathing". He did it in between each qigong exercise 2-3 times to ground. Â what's funny is JAck Greenwoods "Body Method" is just like this whole meditation only you move your hands up and down with the breath. For 15-60 mins. Initially it's this meditation done standing with knees bent down low, and eventually you can do it seated. In his book he just expounds on the technique and how to clear stagnations in the energy body, and later couple it with affirmations to manifest your wishes. Â +1 for this post. ShaktiMama Posted July 5, 2011 (edited) Do you keep your tongue up to the roof of your mouth behind your upper teeth? It helps circulate the energy that gets stuck in the head. Â Downward stroke your own energy? It's like brushing your body with your hands with the intention of smoothing and brushing the energy towards the ground and away from your head. Â Â Also the more you relax the more energy is going to move. SO for awhile there is a lot of movement in the beginning once you get beyond the just starting part. Â This is a good sign. It means energy is moving. But, it can be intrusive as you have found. Â Baby's or child's pose in yoga if you rest your forehead on the ground really helps circulate and ground the energy into the earth. You can see my students just relax and some even saying "aaaaaahhhhh" when they connect with ground in baby's pose. I still like to do it. Â Animals, plants, nature are also helpful by touching them. Putting your hands in water to drain off excess energy helps too. Â If your thoughts are racing acupuncture helps. Â If "spasms" are interrupting your practice maybe allow the chi to direct the movement of your body. This is how spontaneous chi gong starts. Â See if you can hold someone's hand that has yin cooling energy. Â Secret smile or inner smile works. Â Pick what is helpful and just stay with one or two of them. Â Â Just connecting with you as I write this makes my own head feel tight and constricted. Much peace to you. Edited July 5, 2011 by ShaktiMama
alect Posted September 19, 2011 Again you have all helped very much. I have tried many of these techniques. On many levels it was also an emotional thing and attachment to something that is difficult to describe.
