Pero Posted August 27, 2006 Not to be a critic or anything, but could you add the "lines" in between topics that were there before (I think)? I think it`s easier to view that way. Also, while I like white, this a bit too white for me... Otherwise nice work.
sean Posted August 27, 2006 Thanks! It's quite a process. SOOOOooooo many little template files and images and color settings and CSS and tables, and divs etc., etc., etc. Still a ton of work to do, I could put another 40 hours into it and there still'd be plenty more tweaks on my list. Here is a mockup for an update I have planned soon to change topic view up a bit. Lemme know what you think... It frees up a lot of room and gives this whole new horizontal strip to the right of the avatar and member information to start adding features ... for example I want to build a feature that will put "recent blog post" in that strip. So if you are reading a post by, say, Yoda or whoever, in Taoist discussion, you could see right next to their avatar a link to their latest blog (practice journal) entry. Also a link to their member gallery could be put up there (if they have one) .... lot's of stuff. And it frees up a lot of screen real estate for the post itself, so Cam would have that much more width for posting higher resolution porn before I delete it. Pero Posted August 27, 2006 Thanks for the lines, much better (at least to me). Sean, just wondering, why did you decide to change the looks?
DaoWaDiddy Posted August 27, 2006 Sean, The new look is great! I liked the old design - thought it was one of the better looking forum sites around - but this one feels lighter and more open. When I first opened it there was this "Oh, of course! " moment. Thanks for putting in the work with all the little template files and images and color settings... It frees up a lot of room and gives this whole new horizontal strip to the right of the avatar and member information to start adding features ... for example I want to build a feature that will put "recent blog post" in that strip. To me it seems like it might break up the flow of reading down the page from message to message - kind of like the mid-page banners do. Not a major distraction, just a bit of extra scrolling. With the current layout when there is a conversational posting (you post something, Yoda responds, you respond, Yoda...) the redundant information is off to the side rather than interspersed with the main line of the messages. And would you follow the same scheme for the Personal Practice Discussions - which often follow a different pattern (Yoda, Yoda, Yoda, Yoda, Sean Yoda, Cameron)? Just some thoughts for you to throw into the design process. All the best, Charlie
