Pero Posted August 30, 2006 (edited) I`m not sure yet if I got the exact time of birth right, will have to check the birth certificate. Here are my results: YEAR: Fire Rabbit MONTH: Water Tiger DAY: Wood Dragon HOUR: Earth Dragon Inner element: Metal Constellation: Serpent Elements: Wood 4, Fire 3, Earth 3, Metal 1, Water 1 Like others, I have no idea what this means. I`m surprised that my inner element is Metal, as I was told that I have weak metal. But then again, it does say just 1 metal. What does inner element even mean? What is the meaning of the constelation? Also what do the squares around the central one mean? Like, in upper right corner of the chart (rabbit) it says: ASSISTANTS Wu Qu (Generalissimo) Qi Sha (Seven Killings) Di Jie (Earhly Loss) The first two are also bolded. What do they mean? Thanks for this Sean, it`s really cool. But I`m afraid you just caused more questions. EDIT: Ok, just found the exact time. I was just 5 minutes off. I put it in, and there are no differences that I can see. Edited August 30, 2006 by Pero
lezlie Posted August 31, 2006 I got a 6 fire with 0 water..and my dream is to live in a desert area..very attracted to it. All my life however, I've lived near the ocean. Life circumstances keeps me from the southwest, but would love to go there..can you ask about that..? Thanks T but... you don't live in the desert, do you? you say you live near water... all your life. life circumstances keep you away. you long for it, but you don't actually live there. it's interesting. yeah, i'm going to ask about people with excess fire and no water living in the desert and see what he says. i'm still so new at this, it might be no big. who knows? it just sounds funny. it sounds like someone who is purposely putting themself in an uncomfortable position. but.. it could mean nothing. oh btw thaddeus, that tiger image you are using for your avatar is the same exact image i found on google and am using for my high school reunion forum. so random, just thought i'd mention, tho. Also what do the squares around the central one mean? Pero Posted August 31, 2006 there is a side note: you are one sexy dude. you are destined for great porno stardom. huh.gif blink.gif OMG YES When you get to the porn stardom, will you throw a party to which we`ll all be invited? I found two sites about Zi Wei that gave me a little bit of understanding. A lot of it (if I`m getting it right) is actually quite correct for me... This site describes what the meaning of the stars (the names like Tai Yin - Moon Lady, or on the site The Moon). TripleDot you might want to check it out. Introduction to Zi Wei And here is one that describes everything a bit: Zi Wei Dou Shu Unfortunately however, the charts are not quite the same as the one that the program gives us. Like Karma, Career, Travel, they aren`t on our chart. Now, English is not my first language, so maybe someone could tell me if there are synonyms...?
... Posted September 1, 2006 hey thanks man. my healthy palace is crazy lucky. I have the roofbeam star, as well as BOTH the 'intellect' star, AND the 'intelligence' star, AND some third star.. not a 'good' or 'bad' star, but one of the 'extra', 'supplementary' stars or whatever. that, as well as both emperor and empress stars for my pleasure palace.. (lol, 'pleasure palace..) I couldn't be more pleased with my chart. yay for me =) the bad thing, though, is the marriage palace-- it is generallisimo and the 'humpback' stars. that means that not only will I marry some bitch, but she'll be ugly, too? sean Posted October 30, 2006 I haven't forgotten about getting the twelve animals document from Ming to help explain this part of the charts, for everyone who has generated one. He still hasn't sent me the file. I don't want to bug him about it. It's possible he doesn't want to send the file. It's just rough handout notes and I think he is planning on refining them into a book at some point. I'll ask him one more time at the end of the series though. Today's class was on Polestar Astrology. Really fun talk and there are a lot of things Ming weaves into his classes that are fascinating even if you don't specifically care about astrology -- the shamanic roots of Taoism, freaky, limbless, transgendered Taoist oracles, the unique power of concubines, the average American's terror of true freedom, qi disturbances of war such as Saddam Hussein crushing Persian relics, Japanese bombing obliteration of Mao Shan, cross dressing screaming banshee shamans ... fun stuff! Check it out, here is a link to the download page for this mp3

sean Posted October 31, 2006 thanks, will definately check it out..however until then..what is he saying about concubines?? (as if the other stuff didn't matter much)..lol.. Well, it wasn't about concubines in general so much as concubines historically in China. Being chosen as a concubine to the emperor was a powerful opportunity that really has no parallel in modern times. The concubine, who may have been merely the beautiful daughter of a destitute family, would be swept into a position to potentially exert massive influence over the entire kingdom through her indirect influence on the emperor. Also, if the empress proved to be barren it was possible for the concubine to be a surrogate. Now, when the emperor dies and the concubine's son becomes emperor, guess who's word he is going to favor? Ming made a joke, something like ... for as liberal as the west thinks we are toward women in politics, and as much as we want to look down on Confucian society as repressive, even misogynist, when is the last time an illiterate fisherman's daughter was vice president? spyrelx Posted November 2, 2006 Hey all, This probably comes under the heading of "computer illiteracy". When I try to run the software on my windows machine at work I get this message: "The system can not open the device or file specified" Any ideas? Also, I have a Mac at home. Does this software work with a Mac? Thanks.
Wu...G Posted November 2, 2006 OK, I'll play. Year - Wood Dragon Month - Fire Rabbit Day - Earth Dragon Hour - Water Dog Inner Element: Wood Constellation: Sheep Elements Wood/3 Fire/3 Earth/4 Metal/0 Water/2 This agrees with a chart I had done before. I don't know what inner element means, but in looking at the level of the elements I see that I have a higher number for Earth than any of the other elements and a zero for metal. I think this is significant. It means I have to be aware of strengthening the metal element and that I have characteristics of strong earth chi. At least this is the interpretation I learned some years ago. The boxes around the center are a the twelve stems. If you notice Sean mentioned this will be covered in the next class. I don't know what they mean either. Under offspring it has tiger. A coincidence is that my son (first born) is a Tiger. (PS - on a tangent I am using his knowledge of this fact as a stepping stone to teaching him Shamanic Tiger form, bit by bit.) Thanks for sharking Sean Thaddeus - looks like we are born on the same year. (unless you are like over 100 years old, ya never know Craig Yes, the "offspring" area in my chart also correctly reflects the birth/year sign on one of my children (my first born). Hummm...interesting.
Wu...G Posted November 2, 2006 I'm really getting into this Taoist astrology class that I am taking with Liu Ming. This last class we learned about the Celestial Stems and Earthly Branches, both of which make up your outer character. Next class we will learn about the 12 houses. There is a great free resource for calculating your Chinese astrological chart. Here is the procedure. 1) Have your year, month, day and time of birth handy 2) Go to TzuWei.com, right click and save the personal edition of this free astrology software, and install it. 3) Go to this daylight savings calculator and type in the year you were born to verify if it fell on daylight savings or standard time. 4) Go to world time zones and determine how much you have to subtract from your time of birth to get the Greenwich Mean Time (this is where knowing if you were born during daylight savings or not is relevant). 5) Fire up the Zi Wei Chart Builder software, plug in your information and hit build chart. Boom. What used to take hours has been calculated instantly. Here is my chart: Oh ... unfortunately I don't know the exact time I was born yet (I ordered a copy of my birth certificate to find out, but it hasn't arrived yet). But I do know that it was between 1am and 4am, so I did several charts between this range and there are only two parts (not including the 12 houses) that vary. March 22, 1976 - between 1am - 4am Year: Fire Dragon (Bing Chen) Month: Metal Rabbit (Xin Mao) Day: Water Rooster (Guei Yu) Hour: Water Ox (Guei Chou) or Wood Tiger (depending on actual time) Inner Element: Wood or Earth (depending on actual time) Constellation: Swallow Elements: Wood/3 or 4 Fire/1 Earth/3 or 2 Metal/3 Water/2 So what's your chart look like? Sean Thank you for sharing this. I'm going to "the end of the line" to post my results and speculations. Thanks again. Year: Metal Rat Month: Water Horse Day: Earth Goat Hour: Metal Goat Inner element: Earth Constellation: Tiger Elements: Wood/1 Fire/2 EArth/5 Metal/2 Water/2 Just by glancing and taking a half educated guess, I'm going to speculate that the "houses", or areas that are influenced by compatible animals are areas that will be more favorable in one's life and by the same token, the flip side is the areas that have adverse or incompatible signs will be more troublesome(?) areas in one's life? Anyway, my health is ruled by Horse, and Rats are supposed to run away from horses! ugh! OH! Another irony (as with the children/offspring signs correlations) In my marriage sector it is ruled by Rooster and I married one! however, I also divorced him :-( teh heh.... Wu...G Posted November 2, 2006 http://www.astro-fengshui.com/4P%20Charting.html here is another chart generator. It is somewhat variant and there's a engine to enter the longitude of birth also. This did make a difference in my chart in the Monthly and Hour pillars, which, with the above calculator is consistent with what I came up doing my own chart the old fashioned way. Anyway, it's fun. Enjoy. b.
Todd Posted November 3, 2006 This site has many interesting programs that one can download and try for free. They take into account both latitude and longitude, and generate comprehensive analyses of one's results. Exploring one of these programs did bring up an interesting dilemma though. It has to do with time zones. The program I used has us express anything west of GMT as a positive number, wheras the time zones generated by most time zone calculators express those same time zones as negative numbers. Its just a switch of point of view-- are we adding time to where we are to get GMT time, or are we subtracting from GMT to get our time? The thing is that the first chart generator that Sean posted a link to gives the same results using the positive time zones as the program I linked to above. This doesn't affect the animals but it does affect the stars for some reason. To make things a bit more uncertain, one the links posted above explaining Zi wei dou shu states that one should just calculate charts based on Beijing time. Insights anyone? I kind've lost interest, but there seems to be a lot to explore for anyone so interested. Todd Oh BTW, thanks for posting the Liu Ming astrology talk Sean. He is very knowledgeable and entertaining when he's not channeling the wolf. I enjoyed it a lot.
