Marblehead Posted September 6, 2011 There's a difference between enjoying/appreciating something that is part of earthly life and being addicted to it. Everybody knows that. As an update to my previous post... yeah, I also have problems with Taoist masters keeping their info to themselves and a few "chosen ones" and the royal courts. They should have spread it to the masses, at least the basic levels. The benefits far outweigh any potential risks. But you what they say about knowledge... it's power. And you know what they say about power... it corrupts. There are no secrets in Taoism. All we have to do is learn to ask the right questions.
Marblehead Posted September 6, 2011 What's needed to transcend these desires is not religion, suffering or even spirituality. What's needed to transcend these desires is the acceptance of death as the inevitability of life. Why do people indulge in their senses? Because they are afraid of Death and they indulge in their senses to feel alive! I agree with your first two sentences. However, I have a problem with the last. People indulge in their senses because that is the way it is supposed to be. We are supposed to live and enjoy this moment in time we have on Earth. Excess in these indulgences is where the problem lies. Therefore we are told that we should lessen our desires and avoid the extremes.

Marblehead Posted September 6, 2011 Your pushing buttons that do nothing ... I have a few buttons that still work perfectly. I recommend against trying to push any of them though. I kinda' like my buttons even though they cause me to do irrational things sometimes.

Everything Posted September 6, 2011 (edited) How freakin' boring!!! How about fullness? How about, the words that bring about Life? "Oh, Tulku, master of darkness, guide of the way from Life unto Life, before thee I bring a Sun of the morning. Touch him not ever with the power of The Void. Call not his flame to the darkness of The Void. Know him, and see him, one of our brothers, lifted from darkness into the Light. Release thou his flame from its bondage, free let it flame through the darkness of The Void." Edited September 6, 2011 by Everything

Loke Posted September 6, 2011 I have read this somewhere When you are full of jing, there is no desire for sex. When you are full of chi, there is no desire for food. When you are full of shen, there is no desire for sleep. I thought that this was something to cling to.
Marblehead Posted September 6, 2011 They have medication for that. Aaron Don't want none. It is actually more fun now that I have had all the experiences necessary to just look and imagine. Isn't our imaginary mind a wonderful thing?

Everything Posted September 6, 2011 WoW! How the hell am I going to respond to that!!! Be careful with that flame though. It might enlighten the void. Know ye not that the void is filled with marbles? Only the children of the light can enlighten these and reveal them to us all! Such a day shall come and it shall be recalled as the day that the stars gained their shine. Resembling the reflections we find upon your head. Ah, yes, the 'Children of the Light'. "Let your little light shine." I saw the light, I saw the light, etc, etc., We have to wait a while - I have a full head of hair. ('Course, much of it is gray but still ...) There are a pretty big bunch of marbles in that avatar of yours. edit for the purpose of adding some missing characters in words. They apparently attained 'nothingness' when I did the original post. konchog uma Posted September 6, 2011 You are only worried about the monasteries? Maybe not today, but the monasteries should have been taken down. They were part of the ruling class. The ordinary peasant in Tibet had no rights. A landlord allied with the Dalai Lama could rape a peasant's/slave's wife and cut off his balls and eviscerate him when he protested. Happened a lot. Dalai Lama were no better than the Vatican or the Taliban. But that's the normal state of the world. That's how power works. That is why democracy has been invented. Chinese propaganda? Didn't I just tell you I have nothing with Mao or communism? But you worry about your monasteries. I prefer to look at the lowest classes. i have never heard such stories from any of my tibetan/nepalese friends they love the dalai lama i have seen the chinese propaganda that says things like you are saying here though. please cite references to news sources or media links that help me understand the monstrosity of the dalai lama?? your views are too similar to propaganda distributed by the chinese government for me to take seriously. konchog uma Posted September 6, 2011 I already told you.. you are hardly enlightened.. the creator/tao/universe does talk back but he only talks back to high-level practitioners.. taming their desires and culling the indulgence of the senses are like fundamental ABCs for these high-level practitioners.. anyway good luck to you and your life.. you gonna need it.. lol the creator talks to everyone. you don't understand what you are talking about.
