gendao Posted September 6, 2011 (edited) In case you didn't read, Muammar Gaddafi is wanted by the International Court in the Hague, for war crimes against his own people. He is a dictator and not a progressive as you so blindly believe! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/libya/8493132/Muammar-Gaddafi-facing-war-crimes-arrest-warrant.html LMFAO! Seriously, what part of "Western propagandist banksta smear campaign trial-by-MSM" don't you understand? Western "human rights" (often 0rwellian Doublespeak as explained here) organizations are often infiltrated and hjiacked (if not founded) as psyops to level false or highly-selective accusations against political targets at convenience. This is not the first time the heavily compromised alleged rapist (who was instrumental in spreading the false reports about mercenaries, mass rape and viagra) the has been involved in psyops in Libya. When Moreno Ocampo called he was told the reports received were not certain and unconfirmed. Meanwhile, back in the real world, Chairman of the UN Human Rights Council and war crimes expert Cherif Bassiouni said: “People are accusing each other of a policy of rape. People are accusing mercenaries and foreign fighters of engaging in rape. I would like to say at this point its more of an hysterical social reaction. We have no evidence of it.” Poonam Joshi of Amnesty International confirmed that in the areas where Amnesty workers who have been on the ground for several months in Eastern Libya and Misrata they “haven’t come across any hard evidence yet” of rape or sexual violence. Human Rights Watch (partly funded by western governments and secretive off-shore trusts) Even the azzrag you quoted from - has called for this ICC prosecutor's resignation!! Why the world's most powerful prosecutor should resign The International Criminal Court's first trial has been suspended because the prosecutor failed to disclose evidence that could have helped the defendant just days before the start of the trial, he and his fellow judges announced that the trial would be “stayed”. As I reported briefly at the time, this was because evidence that could have exculpated Lubanga had not been disclosed by the prosecutor And yet you still take a totally corrupt & discredited lawyer like this seriously??? You'd think after the US/UK blatantly lied about WMDs in Iraq to the world, these ancillary branches would have lost some credibility when it comes to wartime propaganda? Obama is President and does not have dictatorial powers to do anything he wants. There is something called the 'separation of powers' in the U.S. He must work with the Congress in order to get things done. Obviously you know very little as to how the U.S. government works!LMFAO!!! You mean Obama obviously knows very little as to how the U.S. government is supposed to work!??President Obama's refusal to submit to the rule of law continues to impress me. He is now clearly violating the War Powers Act, despite having invoked it as a justification for his unauthorized intervention in Libya. In an effort to satisfy those arguing he needs to seek congressional authorization to continue US military activity in accordance with the War Powers Resolution, President Obama wrote a letter to congressional leaders this afternoon suggesting that the role is now so “limited” he does not need to seek congressional approval.... Typical of ironic Western hypocrisy, Obama is clearly the actual dictator invading Libya here...to oust a democratic leader whom he falsely labels as a dictator. LMFAOO!!! You could find reams of worse healthcare complaints against Pelosicare within 5 seconds of Googling! So, should Libya label Obama a "war criminal against humanity" and bomb us to liberate us from that?? And Lockerbie may only further reinforce my point about psyop frame-ups against rebel leaders. MEBO LTD and myself have obviously been misused by the Scottish Justice and Lord Advocate Colin Boyd to construct a wrong link from Lockerbie to Libya... Edwin and Mahnaz Bollier, MEBO Ltd. give the Crown, Lord Advocate General and the Appeal Court, the full warranty that the manipulated MST-13 timer fragment (PT-35B) does not come from a timer supplied to Libya and therefore cannot be brought in connection with Libya... “Libya did pay the compensation under explicit objection that Libya had absolutely nothing to do with the PanAm 103 Lockerbie-Tragedy and could therefore not be made responsible. In the world media this objection is never mentioned. “This tricky suppression of the whole statement by the world’s leading news agencies leads to the generally accepted but nevertheless totally wrong notion: If they paid, they did it. “Why Libya pays?: > Regain full diplomatic and economic status. This would allow oil companies to negotiate hundreds of billions of dollars worth of contracts, to drill the state’s oilfields. “US President Bush signed on August 4, 2008 into law: S.3370, the ‘Libyan Claims Resolution Act.’ The bill that grants Libyan immunity law and full diplomatic and economic status.” “Ulrich Lumpert, a Swiss electronic engineer and former employee at the Zurich-based MEBO Ltd Telecommunication, has admitted that he stole from the company a hand manufactured MST-13 Timer PC-Board that was later used as evidence against the defendant, Libyan agent Abdel Basset al-Megrahi. Lumpert says: “I realized that the MST-13 PC-board, after it was handed over by me without permission was misused for deliberate politically criminal ‘action’.” Again, all by the same "usual suspects":According to a BBC report:A Pan Am investigation is believed to have concluded that the Lockerbie bomb was targeted specifically to kill a small band of US Defence Intelligence Agency operatives (including Major Charles McKee) who had uncovered a drugs ring run by a CIA unit in Lebanon. "The CIA and its allies allowed the Contras to ship huge amounts of cocaine into the United States and sell it to mafia families in New York, Los Angeles, Texas, Miami, and a number of other places. "The proceeds of these sales allowed the Contras to buy (third-rate) arms and other supplies from the United States... In a statement read by his lawyer, Mr. Megrahi said he was “very distressed” that the judges had denied him “the chance to spend my remaining time with my family.” “I wish to reiterate that I had nothing whatsoever to do with the Lockerbie bombing and that the fight for justice will continue regardless of whether I am alive to witness my name being cleared,” he said. The case has long been contentious. A Scottish judicial review body ruled in July, 2007, after an investigation lasting nearly four years, that Mr. Megrahi might have been wrongfully convicted and was entitled to appeal the verdict. The Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission delivered an 800-page report — much of it secret — that identified several areas where “a miscarriage of justice may have occurred.” The commission cast doubt on the testimony of a witness, who changed his story several times and had been shown a photograph of the Libyan official days before picking him out of a lineup. It also challenged evidence presented at the trial that the official had purchased the clothes found in the suitcase that held the bomb. In short - so the CIA has another "baked sale" fundraiser and offs a few potential whistleblowers who might snitch - and then conveniently blames it all on a democratic leader resisting all their plans. Even extorting him to pay a bully fee in the process. Real genius, huh?? Edited September 7, 2011 by vortex

Birch Posted September 7, 2011 "Each generation defines its own values. These values are based on what we see, what we are told, and what we read." That's interesting Mr MH. I feel that as a child of some very strange values i have had to work quite hard to rid myself of them:-) Now and then however, my "values" hurt me because I go against them. Or because another sheep slaps my wrist for not conforming. Good practice material, however:-) The thing that I don't see mentioned is the way values get shared amongst people in generations. From what I understand of the world, different people are taught to value very different things depending on what social caste they fall into. I don't know much about the issues spoken to here but I think instinctively, nations that cheat their people out of health and wealth do not get my assent. The sick-care industry is another big topic.

Thats what I mean with filtered media. It is corrupt. Have you ever seen news about so many people peacefully protesting in favor of gadhaffi? Has the news ever made room to make public the philosphy of gadhaffi? Did you know that the system gadhadffi is fighting for is alot better then this current system? No, in my country I see only one guy who does not even live in Libya and says his girlfriends friend is dead because of gadhaffi. Then they say "thats it about sending troops to kill some libanian people" Perhaps read a book that gadhaffi wrote and see it resonates with you, then decide if you want to punish him for whatever fcking reason you wish. Slap him like a b!tch, I don't care. As long as you base your actions on your own being, not blindly following other people and live the lives of other people. You're like the good guy who is being used by the corrupt. The corrupt say, "hey, he said your momma!" and you go attack te other guy, blind, without doing your own research. Always look for oppositw truth of what you believe, this is the only way we can increase our consciousness.

Enishi Posted September 9, 2011 (edited) Social Security can be maintained for the most part, particularily if spending on foreign wars is reduced. The same is not true however of Medicare and Medicaid. Although I do feel everyone should have some form of health coverage, the system needs to change, and WILL change whether people like it or not, as healthcare (sick care really) in it's current form is not sustainable. It will be far harder to keep future generations from falling into poverty if there is no change in the current status quo of spending hundreds of thousands of dollars worth on heart surgery, dialysis and other allopathic treatments that only result in a 70 year old living one extra year confined to a bed, suffering. I'm hoping such problems will spur further interest in treatments involving qi and other holistic methods. Please consider the following: Spending on Medicare and Medicaid is Absolutely Out of Control Spending on Medicare and Medicaid is Absolutely Out of Control As a quick follow up to this morning’s piece about how liberals and progressives need to concede to reality and stop bemoaning the impending demise of the New Deal and Great Society programs that cannot be sustained in a resource depleting world, there was an article published today in the USA Today that graphically illustrates the exploding costs of Medicare and Medicaid, right into the teeth of the Great Recession: Medicare and Medicaid spending rose 10% in the second quarter from a year earlier to a combined annual rate of almost $992 billion, according to new data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). The two programs are on track to rise $90 billion in 2011 and crack the $1 trillion milestone for the first time. The jump in health care spending is the biggest since the Medicare prescription drug benefit was added five years ago and ends a brief lull in the spending increases that occurred during the economic downturn. The article went on to add: The latest spending surge in federal health care is driven by more people getting more treatment, not by price increases. Health care inflation is at its lowest level in more than a decade — a 1.7% annual rate — but the aging population and the weak economy are sending more patients to government-financed care. Medicare and Medicaid paid a record 57.5% of patient bills for hospital, doctors, drugs and other care in the last quarter, up from 49.3% in 2005. Link: http://yourlife.usatoday.com/health/healthcare/story/2011/08/Medicare-Medicaid-tab-keeps-growing/49776998/1 The graph at the top of the page is from the same article. As you can see, going back to the first quarter of 2008, the quarter that marked the “official” beginning of the Great Recession, Medicare and Medicaid spending has in fact exploded by 21%, advancing a staggering $208 billion on an annualized basis during that time. Extrapolating that growth rate forward would cause such spending to double to nearly $2 trillion per year by 2021, the final year of the ten year time frame used in the just completed deficit reduction battle. Even scarier, that total is not far below the amount of revenue (around $2.1 trillion) the federal government took in from taxes last year. Obviously, unless real, organic economic growth not tied to federal deficit spending resumes, these two programs are in big trouble. And that doesn’t even take into account that the Baby Boomer generation is just now reaching the point where its oldest members are becoming eligible for Medicare benefits. Though the debt limit accord passed this week was hazy on real specifics, I think we can safely assume that whatever cuts are planned for Medicare and Medicaid will hardly curb this explosion in costs. Since we have reached a point thanks to peak oil and resource depletion where continued real economic growth is impossible, a genuine crisis in these programs (as opposed to the fake political crisis we just witnessed) is quite obviously not far away. thelerner Posted September 9, 2011 Big war? I don't think so. We've been at war(s) for a decade and unless you had a family member or friend involved (we did) it was mostly invisible, except news clips. People are now seeing what we don't have because of the foolish war mongering. A trillion dollars that could have spent on schools, infrastructure, etc. People are waking up to it and the reality of it is devastating. The Soviet Union was torn apart by over spending. They have no stomach for it these days, and frankly the big players don't have the finances for it (China's conquering the world through production so it needs live customers). If for no other reasons then financial I think the powers that be (which is some ways is Us) will keep out of any major commitments. There will undoubtedly be bumps and skirmishes, but I think there is a hunger for peace, or at least cheaper entanglements; almost humorously its not Star Wars, its drone wars. I consider myself an independent, though I lean liberal. But part of me wants to see Ron Paul win (crazy, yes) and have 4 years of isolationist, libertarian policies, slashes to military spending, foreign aid, etc. A thorough house cleaning. Writing this on 9/9, 2 days to 9/11. For the last 9 years I've held my breath every anniversary. I think we've been very lucky so far to have had no attack on our shores, fingers crossed the luck will hold. But if it doesn't I doesn't I don't think we'll see a war. Just more drones, and seal attacks. Interesting history book I'm reading now "Thinking In Time, the uses of History for Decision Makers". Good depth to it, looking deeply into recent past it shows how personalities shape history more then policies.
