Dear Bubbles,

It is not only Mister Li Jiong, I wanted to save. I am sure this is Cat's and Sinfest's and many others' purpose all well.

We can only saves ourselves from our own judgements, whereby we saved ourselves.

I tried to save myself and am saving myself right now.

And thus Dao save the world laugh.gif.

All Good,

XieJia

What if he is right.

Put it this way.. what if he is not wrong.

What if he is saying something valid.

Maybe he's right. But does him being right here matter much at all? I don't think so.

Tao save world, Buddha save world, God save world. This is the one and only way. Your way is wrong. My way is the only way.

Meh. How about people save people?

I disagree.

The only way to save humanity is to ensure that enough humans are alive to maintain a viable breeding population. I don't think Taoism is required for that.

Although I'll admit it'd be cool if there were more Taoists in the world.

Quanzhen school of Taoism forbids childbearing, this can reduce population.

China has pushed family planning for more than 30 years, and it is said four hundreds million humans have not been born cause of Chinese family planning. I do think this is based on Tao thoughts. Yet I never see another nation can control themselves like Chinese. I have to say it is because they are short of the edification of Tao.

Monks and nuns are not supposed to have children in other religions either. Outside of that...I understand that Wang Liping has a son, and various people connected to Quanzen also. Master Wan Sujian for example and his American student Michael Rinaldini.

Tao thoughts? No, it's not. It is socialist central planning. Due to social issues caused by this there are calls for change here in China ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-14287093 ). One thing for sure though-if not for the government bringing in the one-child policy, then enforcing it, it would not have happened. Another thing, there are doubts now to whether it was ever needed ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-11404623 ). The wealthy have flouted the rules and paid the fines ( http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/1550935/Chinas-rich-flout-one-child-policy.html ).

The poor and less well off do as they are told-or suffer the consequences ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-15048213 ). The wealthy elite do what they can get away with-until it becomes an issue that causes mass public disorder ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7191021.stm http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-12088147 ). Corruption is rife-something the central government in Beijing have stated themselves more than once ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-12088147 ).

Those Chinese that have been able to have embraced Western culture, fashion, living, etc. This includes medicine-which is why G.E. relocated its X-ray business to China ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-14287093 ). The majority of Chinese people, in all the time I have lived here, have shown little to no interest in Daoism. Daoist thought certainly isn't mainstream.

Confucian values, that is different. However, the younger generation, strongly influenced by Western culture, and coming from one-child families, are embracing individualism whole-heartedly. Again, not just my opinion but backed up by news reports. Not long ago the government here considered issuing an edict demanding that children take care of their elderly relatives ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-12130140 ). Unthinkable a few years ago, but now many would rather be independent from the family yolk (and again, we also come back to the problems caused by the single child policy). I had one student go and study in American just to escape his grandfathers dictatorial behaviour. He ended up marrying an American girl and now lives there. Another student, just returned from spending time in the USA told me he wanted to live there because there is 'much more freedom'.

The 'Dao' of modern China is the shopping mall. Fact. Yes, there are those who follow the traditional ways, but they can hardly be considered the majority. Not a criticism, just reality. I enjoy living in China and admire much of what I see, and many of the people I know. It is though, like any other country, a place that has its own problems and issues to deal with. Not inherently better or worse than other countries.

And unfortunatley most of the other cultures follow and worship western culture like their favourite diety, walking in the same footprints.

I too would be curious to find out what do you mean by converting to Tao. Are you saying something along the lines of adopting a lifestyle which is more in accordance with nature or did you mean it literally converting to Tao as a religion?

I dont believe that humanity needs saving ,but I do believe that we as individuals need to seriously sort our selves out by facing our fears and nurturing ourselves.

Dancing with life instead of kicking life in the butt, as we do right now. This is becouse personal is at the root of global.

Every little individual change is more precious than the 10000000 kg of diamonds becouse it creates more fertile atmosphere across the earth and universe .It creates waves and waves that have a potential to spread and balance the situation we are in.

'Saving' aspect IMO is so deepley rooted in our psyche as right the way and solution, but it is actually the cause.

In a way as we started all this 'civilization' becouse we wanted to save ourselves trouble of looking for shelter and slowly started to severe our link with the earth , so we started to build some sort of dwellings. Than we invented the wheel to save us walking and carriying. The list can go on all the way to the 'chin rest devices whilst reading 'that are saving us from chin getting too tierd and other more or less usefull items and caused us coupeled with too much misplaced curiosty many global problems that we want to fight instead of understand and deal with.

This saving needs to stop (even just as figure of speech as carries potential to cause destruction). We need to find our malnurished connection with the heart of the earth and universe and pay attention and nurture our MANY wounds first.

Yeeha for Suninmyeyes.

:)

In the particular is contained the universal.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a woman in search of a labour saving device is actually looking for more time to a) watch 'sex and the city' reruns, or B) sit amongst the trees.

And maybe the abyss isn't a bad thing. Maybe there's nothing to fear at all.

Maybe ,but we still gotta do something while taking part in this earthly play ,even if that something is nothing or pretending of some sort.

World is sliding to abyss obviously. Where is the hope?

Converting Tao is the one and only way to save humanity.

People like you and I are the hope of this planet. Just send positive energy and vibrations while you actively meditate. Also while you walk the circle or practice shadow boxing or any other Qigong form you are healing the world at the same time.

The problem we are facing as modern spiritual practitioners is the excessive reliance on technology. This is a serious issue for which I don't have an answer for.

Yuan Qi and the Problem of Communication with Later Heaven

The process of stepping down of Early Heaven qi into the third heaven, Later Heaven (hou tian), is described by Lao Tzu as giving birth to "the ten thousand things". Later Heaven includes the planet Earth on which humans live. This stepping down is where communication problems within the Dao seems to first arise. The qi field of the physical realm has evolved to embody great extremes of polarity. Hatred, suffering, disease, and death co-exist with love, pleasure, health, and creative life. In humans the jing manifests itself as the reproductive power (gene code, in modern terms) within the sperm/ovum, the qi as breath, and spirit degenerates into ordinary mind/imagination. (13)

Humans struggle with life and feel separated from their Early Heaven aspect because they lack enough yuan qi to communicate with it. This makes it difficult to harmonize the yin-yang polarities facing them, so they get shaped into rigid dualities, conditioned patterns of belief and behavior in worldly life. This energetic rigidity is the underlying cause of most physical realm death. Without clear communication with the yuan qi, the cellular, sexual, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of a human being cannot easily rejuvenate or rebirth themselves.

To get a clear picture of humanity's spiritual crisis relative to yuan qi, I shall assign numbers. Primordial Heaven is 100% yuan qi, a clear light and silence so pure they disappear as if into a void or invisible space. Early Heaven is 50% yuan qi, making the yin and yang qi luminous in their harmony. Later Heaven has 10% yuan qi, thus its physical plane is very dense with a 90% yin-yang polarized qi field.

But Humans, who in Early Heaven are androgynous or internally bi-sexed etheric beings, at physical birth are split into male and female sexes, causing them an unforeseen and severe loss of yuan qi. Mythically, this is a "fall" into physicality. Humans have further exhausted their parentally inherited yuan jing (original essence that becomes sexual power) over eons of procreation and division into 6 billion people. So humans today might be born with only 1% original qi, and 99% yin-yang qi. This dwindling middle ground accounts for the battle of the sexes. Lack of yuan qi may explain why so many humans feel cut off from "God", the jing-qi-shen trinity of their own original nature. They feel alienated from nature and each other, and easily believe their limited, dense physical body (from lack of yuan qi) is all that exists of their self. Lack of yuan qi is synonymous with the experience of life as struggle.

This weakness of natal yuan qi is further compounded by social conditions. The acceleration of technology has created physical and psychic pollution in the planet's qi field far more severe than existed at the time ancient or medieval daoists taught and wrote. Global wars and mass killings with weaponry have multiplied the field of hungry ghosts manyfold. These fragmented spirits cannot escape Later Heaven, even by death, and driven by fear of slow dissolution they band togther to form large powerful half-entities. Lacking any yuan qi with its regenerative powers, these "demons" survive as low astral plane parasites, stuck between Heaven and Earth.

Functionally, these clustered hungry ghosts become negative thought forms that encircle the planet like a dark cloud, sustaining their existence by feeding on human ignorance, greed, violence, etc. that they incite or encourage through their ability to resonate with the fragmented mind of humans. Invisible, they infiltrate humanity by resonanting with the unconscious aspects of their mind. They manifest themselves in business as greed, sexually and emotionally as violence, in government as the hunger for power, in religion as guilt and fear of death, in science as the need to control through external technology. In general these negative thought forms foster paradigms that separate matter from spirit and deny the aliveness of Nature.

Human addiction to technology has grown so powerfully that "Technos" has begun to function globally as a kind of semi-conscious deity, feeding on that desire. The question is -- what is that deity's intent? Is it communicating with the organic wholeness of the Dao? An excessive reliance on technology seems to have the unfortunate effect of separating humans from the core rhythms of natural life: artificial weather in homes, processed food with no qi in it, overuse of cars weakening our legs, genetic engineering disturbing the personal essence (jing) in our DNA, splitting of atoms ripping the matrix of cosmic jing and leaving toxic radiation. Perhaps the worst is electronic pollution. Currents of AC electricity wrap the globe with a polarized electrical field. AC electricity has postive/negative flow with no neutral ground, disturbing and weakening the DC current flowing through the liquid crystalline cells and tissues of humans. (14) This electronic pollution is amplified by tv, radio and microwaves that constantly bombard living creatures and further polarize the planetary qi field, disturbing human ability to communicate with the universal qi field.

This lack of coherence in both the human and planetary qi field makes communication between Origin and Later Heaven (Earth) even more difficult, igniting a spiritual crisis for humanity. Fortunately, the original qi field of Nature is a unified continuum and so by definition never loses its overall balance. The very severity of false yin-yang qi imbalance on Earth is triggering a spontaneous awakening to counterbalance it, both within humans and within the collective planetary consciousness of the Earth's spirit (in chinese myth, Pangu).

This may trigger severe climate changes as Earth purges itself of the psychic and physical pollutants choking it. The need to maintain harmony between humanity and the earth's qi field, was emphasized in the oldest daoist alchemical text, the second century Triplex Unity (Cantongqi). It warns that lack of human virtue may cause disturbances: heat in winter and cold in summer, sheep running madly about, followed by floods, droughts, and earthquakes. Coming one of the world's oldest traditions that advocates a deep earth ecology, modern Daoists face a daunting challenge to integrate the global worship of technology into the harmonious flow of life. Does internal alchemy, as a deep language for communicating with nature, have a role to play in this? I will examine the broader process of alchemical communication with the qi field, and then show how nei dan restores yuan qi within human nature by offering a practical process of balancing yin and yang qi at a deep level.

Well, without a doubt, the 1-child policy played a huge role in China's "economic miracle" recovery from Communism. As the West poured ~$4 trillion into Africa, it is still languishing in the same impoverished conditions as before. One main reason for this is that they still have the highest birthrates in the world - ranging up to nearly 8 children per woman on AVERAGE!!! Which even wealthy women in the West can't afford - much less starving women in Africa!!!

As you can see, Africa didn't need $4 trill, they needed a birth control policy. And still do.

Of course, the 1 child limit is extreme - but it was an overcorrection from Mao's former policy of encouraging large litters to "boost the country's labor force" (very flawed nongmin's thinking). The Taoist way would have been to allow a natural, optimal litter size close to the replacement rate all along.. Which perhaps they'll return to once a rebalance has been achieved.

Confucian values, that is different. However, the younger generation, strongly influenced by Western culture, and coming from one-child families, are embracing individualism whole-heartedly. Again, not just my opinion but backed up by news reports. Yes I agree. I would NOT want to be a male in China. The Confucian burden (responsibilities, duties, obligations) placed on that role is staggering, as they are reduced to little more than human slaves to their entire extended family & country.

Whereas in the West now, the attitude is far more, "every man for himself" (until the gov starts playing Robin Hood, that is)..

True, although Taoism is still ingrained deeply within the culture that people are often affected by it, even when they don't realize so. For example, feng shui, TCM, martial arts & even cuisine are all based on a lot of Taoist principles. Like, they all utilize 5-element theory (see "five spice" in cooking). Etc.

Yet, the number of truly practicing Taoists is, and probably always will be, a very small minority. Such an ascetic lifestyle simply doesn't appeal to the mainstream masses.
