Don't know if there's a plot, but I dig the choreography, you can really see a deep love of martial arts infused in it.  Old man kicking ass and taking names in a surreal world.  Turn on higher quality to read the subtitles.

Jet Li was Executive Producer, or so it says.

Do what ?  Every time they went to do something it was cut to a new shot.  You dont actually get to see the fight .

here is what a movie fight looks like with no cuts and switching   ... look for the cuts and pasts and see if you can find them

 

(this is known to be the longest take for a fight scene in the film industry, the skill here is martial but the filming organisational  skill is phenomenal... did it in 2 takes ! )

I love Tony's films.  He does most of his own directing I think mainly so that none of his supporting actors get killed.

 

Jackie Chan once said that he wouldn't want to fight Tony.

Not surprised !   Another thing about Tony is his youth ...

.......   according to Tony ; they would watch  Bruce lee and Jackie Chan flicks and copy the stuff, learning as they went along. The they eventually went for film audition and thats when they found ut most of that stuff was faked ,  And the movie scouts were ' These guys are doing 'the stunts'  for real  ! '   

 

Just goes to show (if thats true ) ... if a kid isnt told its impossible , they might well achieve remarkable things .

 

Similar thing happened with Bruce on his first green Hornet audition ;

 

Director; "Okay, can you burst through that door, see what is going on, race down the stairs, fight and beat the baddies and untie Green Hornet  ?" (considering what movie fight scenes were like before the intro of M.A.s)

 

Lee;  " I think so ."

 

Director : " Okay ... places everyone ..... turn over and ........    action ! "

 

Lee comes bursting through the door with a flying jump kick, land on the landing, looks left right, jumps down the two flights of stairs in one leap, with some acrobatics thrown in, goes up to the baddies and  wham, smash ,  ( super spectacular movie kung fu ), punches through some of the set, kick through a railing, throws someone through the air , then rpes the ropes off Green Hornet and stands their waiting  .....

 

Director ;    "  .........       (actually the whole crew  )   ....  Holy  shit !  ......  I mean    CUT !  

 

Bruce !  What the HELL was that !  Can you do that again ? "

 

Lee;  " I can do it as many times as you want . "
