Mal Posted January 25, 2012 Ha ha well that was interesting. For a bit of a case study I tossed Ep1 on while I had my partner watching TV, telling her it's extremely popular and to have a look. So about 1/2 way through the 1st ep she asked "do they explode or something?" at the end it was "Are you going to make me watch the 2nd episode " I asked which demographic she thought it would be popular with - Little girls, or women her age or a touch younger that remember them from the 80's was the guess. So we got through the 2nd episode and, yep she doesn't like it. So I told her it was very popular with MEN and showed her about the Bronie's and the internet stuff, and the music. I think it's only because of all the "weird freaky hippy stuff" that I'm into that she wasn't flabbergasted !! Very interesting. While I did have this "my little pony thread" {which I had no intention of reading until I couldn't stand the curiosity as it kept bumping to the top} and then an exposure to the net meme's so it's not real fair against a "just watch this" cold exposure. But we have very similar backgrounds and education etc Could it really be a boy girl thing? Did my gender spend it's childhood stopping themselves from "liking" cute "girly" things for no other reason than a boy couldn't be a "man" and like something "girly" I don't have siblings but watching this with D felt like being a sister watching it with an older brother, "when do they blow up?" "Didn't like it" "You like this?" It was more fun for me the 2nd time, and I noticed that, even though she didn't like it, she stopped knitting during the pivotal moments And as a Dr Who fan I though she might like the look of Dr Whoof, who is rather cute, but "No, that's wrong, so very very wrong" Friendship is Magic.
