pendrikkson Posted January 4, 2012 Anyone here read any of Epictetus' writings? I've read, and still read, the Enchiridion as well as the Discourses. 三江源 Posted January 4, 2012 Heh. I thought I was a Stoic until I found out about taoism. I havent read about it for many many years. So I only have a hunch here, and say that possibly the difference bewteen stoicism and taoism on the level you may be thinking about, is the genesis of the stance. Though there maybe some other minor differences, such as relying on your intuition vs. distinguishing between what you can and can't control. Also the main difference which is that one came from China and the other from Greece, if I'm not mistaken, at around the same time.
