I remember when generation X was more of a buzzword, something was on in the media about socially irresponsible slackers. My grandma rolled her eyes and said they said all those same things about her age group when they were young and that the kids would be fine. She was part of the Silent Generation, everything is cyclical.

The Silent generation were conformists who invented the mid life crisis, and had high rates of suicide. They never had a president in the White House either.

I read an article by this guy in a psychology magazine in a waiting room once, very interesting. I think this was the guy, perhaps I will get his book, unless I forget about it again.

Your nomadic pal,

I agree, it is a very interesting theory. Neil Howe is the guy in the first video I posted on the top spot of this thread.

I could tell, you're just about exactly the age I thought you were.

You're a Millennial.

holy hindi cow he's younger than i thought! by like 4 years...

'85 was a good year, though it was when i was born, i had a few special circumstances throughout my life that makes me exceptional to the "generation".

i dont like talkin' 'bout my generation.... i still think equal to or less than punching bags is pretty fit.

My generation =/< punching bags.

Why do you hate your generation?

look at the alternatives....

laugh.gif well the 60's would have been a nice time for me to live tongue.gif

P.S. i wouldnt say i "hate" my generation, but i dont think too highly of most of the people of it.

But then i dont think too highly of most of the people of any generation

GenXer here.

I'd say your criticism is valid. I have no desire to save the world and I am intensely focused on goals that are purely self beneficial. I view the world as a lost cause, and I am not here to try and straighten it out. I have my own goals I am trying to focus on to the exclusion of all else.

That isn't to say that I don't care about humanity, but that I feel helpless to make any meaningful contribution.
