Mentalisation Qigong / Tai Chi

Recommended Posts

Last night I decided to practice spontaneous movement in my mind - imagining myself moving as per feeling

It was fun...

I remember a person asking here once for a method of practice suitable for a small boat they spent most of their time on...

Can one just imagine practicing such things?

I'd be interested in an experienced Qigong/ Tai chi practitioner not doing the practice physically but entirely within ones mind and sharing their feeling of it?

Double Happiness to all who read this!! ;)

Absolutely and it is a fruitful cultivation especially when learning a new set. I use a full mala to go round and through the sequences mentally with intention for Qi to flow where it would if I was physically working the set.

It does too to a certain extent, not so much as when I am moving and stood up (this I do in bed at night before sleep) and as the set becomes part of me the Qi flows nicely.

QiGong or Tai Chi sets work just as we'll and it's nice to be able to ring the changes and learn a new set now and again. I am off next Tuesday to have a go at Beijing short 24 step Tain Chi and trying to find out the set moves before that class.

For a beginner 8 Strands of Silk Brocade QiGong set is the bees knees as it has everything in there in a short sequence.

Good luck and enjoy your internal cultivation.

It might depend on the attitude you take while doing the visualization, I heard one Lama say that if you do mental prostrations in your mind they are more beneficial than actual physical prostrations if done with the correct attitude.
