More MoPai

Recommended Posts

Someone PMd to ask who is the Spirit Guide of the MoPai, in the interests of openness and transparency here is my tentative answer.

Hopefully more information may be forthcoming.

If anyone has links to any refereed academic papers on the MoPai I would appreciate those. Please NO anecdote or rumour, I have plenty of that.

the PM asked... Do you know who is the current spirit guide of the MoPai?

I answered as follows....

Yes it's Grandmaster Liao.

He was JCs teacher until 1962 then after he left the body he continued as JCs spirit guide.

However sometime in the 80s GM Liao ceased working with JC, some say as a result of JC admitting westerners. I don't know.

JC then more or less carried on doing his own thing and picked up another spirit guide not necessarily a good one, that's when the schism began.

Someone ( I don't know who but am trying to find out) quite senior in the MoPai then began channeling GM Liao and it is that chap who was eventually elected as temporal head of the MoPai.

BUT

During the schism some of the younger MoPai lads who trained at a sports centre cum gym in Surabaya set up their own MoPai organisation and their leader also claims to channel but MoTzu is his guide according to what I have been told. I must emphasise that all I know is anecdotal and my current sources are as reliable but no more than the rest of the MoPai rumour mill. First hand reliable and verifiable information I am currently seeking via academic contacts in Malaysia where work continues to be done on martial sects and cults. I hope to have a copy of an academic paper referring to the MoPai schisms sometime next week so watch this space.

Thank you for your interest and warmest best regards to you. I enjoy reading your posts.

Seems like an interesting Lineage....its unfortunate that it is so fraught with internal conflict. I look forward to hear more.

-My 2 cents, Peace
