skydog Posted November 27, 2012 Anyone play the didgeridoo man this is so cool, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QHQuu4ffp8 and they say its the aboriginals peoples actual form of medicine. Gonna buy one and play for fun. Also the drums have a similar effect on ones being and I also find amazingly fun to play Instantly puts one into a deep hypnotic trance. Eric23 Posted November 27, 2012 I made a didgeridoo from PVC pipe following plans fron around the net. It took a while to get the hang of a basic drone sound. Not really sure if I'm doing it right or not. I did notice an improvement in deep belly breathing. My dog howls when I play with the didgeridoo .
joeblast Posted November 27, 2012 I almost made one from PVC a while back but didnt dig on the notion of the phenomenon of the tone reinforcement from a near-perfect cylinder.
Eric23 Posted November 27, 2012 I almost made one from PVC a while back but didnt dig on the notion of the phenomenon of the tone reinforcement from a near-perfect cylinder. I deformed the tube using a heat gun, also used a wine bottle and heat on the end to give it a horn shape. The plan was to spend as little as possible to see if resonated, then upgrade.
skydog Posted November 27, 2012 Can anyone reccomend what a good didgeridoo is to buy, I want a mixture of affordable and good quality? I hear wood is best, from termites and 130cm?
joeblast Posted November 27, 2012 thinner wood will resonate more but is of course more fragile. I think the termites just naturally gave it the internal shape, they arent a necessary step in the process what you get depends on what you want to spend. that's awesome eric, love the ingenuity
Seth Ananda Posted November 27, 2012 I have and play didge. Its a great instrument, although I dont play as much anymore as I damaged my vocal chords learning Mongolian throat singing, and seem to have permanently lost some of my sound range, which just happens to be the didge range... Drums are the next instrument on my list...

Harmonious Emptiness Posted November 28, 2012 could never figure out the didgeridoo, but I do play percussion.(about 10 years) I highly recommend anyone join an African drum ensemble class. It's something else being that tightly woven together with a group of people all playing different parts on one rhythm. I really hope it catches on in elementary schools and high school clubs. It's so much better for social development that competitive sports, imo.
