adept Posted November 27, 2012 I've lately been drawn to Vedantic sources and I'm looking for some legit teachings and teachers. More along the lines of meditative practices and teachings, rather than Advaita self-enquiry methods. There are a number of unscrupulous people out there so I was after a heads-up on decent stuff. Anyway, I came across this website: http://www.dharmacentral.com/index.php and wondered if anyone has any information about them and whether they are the real deal. Â P.S. I do like the look of Swami Lakshmanjoo and Kashmir Shaivism. I've got good vibes from visiting the English language website of his teachings. Â As usual, any help would be most appreciated. 3bob Posted November 28, 2012 (edited) Hello, The Divine Life Society website has lots of excellent resources, (for instance http://swami-krishnananda.org/sitemap.html ) for a more "western" adaptation check out Eknath Easwaran. There are at least hundreds (thousands) other fine resources for study and comparison !! Good hunting to you. Edited November 28, 2012 by 3bob

forestofclarity Posted November 30, 2012 If you are looking for traditional Vedanta, one of the most recommended is Swami Dayananda. Â Also, you may want to look at advaita academy: Â http://advaita-academy.org/pages/default.aspx
gatito Posted November 30, 2012 Do you mean this Swami Dayanada? Â http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dayananda_Saraswati
3bob Posted November 30, 2012 "Denouncing the idolatry" any real mystic has a good understanding of the use by non-physical beings of various "idols" for interaction or Darshan with physical beings... many so called intellects do not have such an understanding. Worship of gods is and has been part of "Hinduism" for who knows how many thousands of years? Granted there is misunderstanding and or abuse of this just like there is misunderstanding and or abuse in almost all areas of religions!
