ralis Posted June 20, 2013 (edited) Everyone knows this is going on, but we're all so complacent that we don't do anything about it. If any of this crap had happened before the age of George Bush, there would've been hell to pay, but we were inundated with the same message "we are doing this to fight terrorism" that we stopped questioning what was going on and just closed our eyes, believing everything would work out in the end. Well guess what, it's not alright.  I created a thread awhile ago asking if the West was descending into fascism, a few people managed to derail it and get it thrown in the pit. Well I think that's a travesty, especially when this thread, one that supports fascism has been going strong.  My point is this... we're already a fascist state, we just don't know it yet. The government can do anything they want to you and all they have to say is that you're a terrorist. They can monitor you without a warrant, lock you away for the rest of your life, and never have to answer to anyone for it, just so long as they call you a terrorist,  If that's not a fascist state, I don't know what is.  Aaron  The reason it wound up in the pit is due to several individuals participating in this thread that fail to understand what fascism is. Their insistent derailing, revisionist rhetoric and insistence that history is irrelevant is indicative of the deteriorating educational system in this society. Furthermore, the extant documents from WWII are archived for anyone to research.  Instead of real discussion, this site is infested with adult/children that would rather discuss 'My Little Pony' as opposed to reading well written posts that are educational in scope.    Thanks for starting that thread. Marblehead Posted July 3, 2013 And Egypt is back in the headlines again. Looks like we might have a military takeover there very soon.
zerostao Posted July 3, 2013 i dont look at it as a military takeover as much as i look at it as the military stepping in on behalf of its people. i would almost remind our military that they took an oath to defend the constitution and the people. didnt you take an oath like that?
Marblehead Posted July 3, 2013 i dont look at it as a military takeover as much as i look at it as the military stepping in on behalf of its people. Okay. I accept that way of looking at it. Â i would almost remind our military that they took an oath to defend the constitution and the people. This has yet to be tested in the US. Â didnt you take an oath like that? Vanir Thunder Dojo Tan Posted July 20, 2013 im not here to stay. im sick and tired of the impasse of the Terms of Service being an obstacle between human social interaction and human political solution. This is a socialist agenda, the tao bums, not a place for genuine Taoist solutions to be discussed and more importantly applied. In tao there is no exclusiveness, so the ToS excluding my angry and "violent" speech directed toward the generality of "civilized" lifeways is blatantly hypocritical in and of the spirit of Taoism.Im not here to just discuss the world of Taoism, im here to experience the minds of my peers and share with you all, my own mind.My own mind, so incompatible with the civilized dominion paradigm, not a pleasant place for those who fear.Im not here to stay, im here to change the world. voidisyinyang Posted July 20, 2013 (edited) WOW -- we’re just 2,397 signers away from 550,000 on our petition to reverse the effects of Citizens United.  Getting rid of this stain on our democracy won’t be easy -- but hitting this milestone will be another important step up the mountain.  I know you want to help me take back our democracy -- and you can do it in less than 30 seconds by clicking here and signing our petition!  There are two big threats to our effort to clean up this mess.  The first is that corporate special interests like their new power just fine -- and they’re willing to do whatever it takes to stop us from taking that power back and returning it to the people.  The second is that this is going to be one heck of an uphill climb -- and it’s all too easy for progressives like you and me to lose hope.  But this is too important to give up. And as we approach 550,000 signers, we’ve come too far to turn back now.  Please click here and take action today -- sign my petition to overturn Citizens United!  Let’s keep going toward our goal. Thanks for your help.  Al Edited July 20, 2013 by pythagoreanfulllotus
Vanir Thunder Dojo Tan Posted July 20, 2013 IF..... IF I had faith that politics could solve anything, rather than only create more problems, I wouldn't be thinking so very little of you, fulllotus. But I do not hold it to you directly, as this way of thinking is a byproduct of your experiences in life... just so sad that you cannot see past the inherent problem of governing externally of yourself (read as: anything contrary to self governance; i.e. democracy) and focus more on how to CURE the people of government, rather than TREAT THE SYMPTOMS with MORE of the same problems...
