Harmonious Emptiness

Is Valley Spirit the femine aspect & Dao the male aspect?

Recommended Posts

In Yang's book on Embryonic Breathing, Valley Spirit is detailed as the upper dantian in classic texts.

The idea of 'washing spirit' (or bathing the spirit) is about nourishing the spirit. Only a few ancient chinese texts use this phrase. The now missing "Book of the Yellow Emperor" is said to be the first to use it but Leizi text quotes the passage which is also now in the DDJ. Not sure this is worth pursuing further here?

Can't say if it means something about the meaning in the DDJ, but, if I remember correctly, "Taoist Yoga" talked about cleansing the chi by it passing through the various centers in the governing and conception vessels, so the middle dantien might be this "washing center." Just playing with puzzle pieces though. Also, Wu Liu Pai didn't show up until about the 17th century, so that might factor.

Those who know the valley spirit by having penetrated the immaterial aperture of the mysterious female have no sexual identity. How then could the nonpsychological spirit of the heart of heaven and earth be categorically differentiated by outsiders clinging to descriptions?

How does one describe that which has no location?

The puzzle is without remainder, only entertained by the doubts of the human mentality.

The valley spirit is where potential is activated; where change originates.

The mysterious female is a metaphor. Mystery is movement: yang. Female is stillness: yin. Neither yin or yang, East Mountain walks on water.
