ๆๆๅ Posted February 11, 2013 Man, hearing about all of these precious videos and texts are in Chinese makes me want to become a translator myself. Translate it into English. Especially since it's the major language at the moment. This stuff needs to get translated somehow so I'm gonna devote a great amount of time to learning Chinese modern and classical then work on translations. It'll be cool if I could get a good sum of money for it so that I can have it as a job. ย An even better idea is to start creating computer programs that can translate works easily. Then just look over it and clear up the mistakes. ย Sounds like a great task to undertake! Best of success with that! ย As a resource for translated sutras from Chinese, check out the btts online site, along with google : Master Xuan (Hsuan) Hua. You may find loads of the work he and his disciples did in translating Buddhist Sutras from Chinese to English, along with loads of commentary and instructional audio from Master Hua spoken by his disciples. ย I have a Dharma Brother who studied Chinese for 10yrs in China till he got his masters degree. His goal was to translate Chinese Translated Buddhist Sutras. Though after some time, he became Muslim. hahaha Good for him, but he has a new mission now. I still wish he would translate sutras though.

ๆๆๅ Posted February 11, 2013 Thanks for that. ย Yeah Idk. It just seems like there are so many sutras yet noone really took up the task to truly translate them all especially the important ones. ย I'm gonna see what I can do in the future for that. The only problem with China is that they block off youtube which contains a good chunk of Master Nan's teachings.I could of course find a great chunk of lectures by Master Nan somewhere in China. ย My brother from another mother... ย All the sutras are important ones..ahahaha BUT I understand what you mean ย ย Yes youtube is blocked and vpns aren't working well in China anylonger...
ๆๆๅ Posted February 11, 2013 Yeah if you need any of Master Nan's lectures, videos and audios, liek the one posted above. Let me know. I can easily download it for ya and send it to you. ย ย I never heard of Master Nan before. Sounds wuite interesting. I'm sure an email wouldn't fit the file size. Thanks for the option. Its too much trouble, but if you ever get around to it, I would be glad to investigagte his lectures.
ๆๆๅ Posted February 11, 2013 I'm gonna get around to downloading them all anyways so to be honest, it's no trouble at all. Is mediafire blocked in China? Downloaded videos aren't a lot of megabytes so sending by email is an option. ย You speak Chinese so it'll be damn shame if you never heard any of Master Nan's lectures. So i'll send some to you. ย Mediafire opens out here. Great! thank you for your efforts
Papayapple Posted February 16, 2017 Hi allย ย You know that my head is full ofย obscure weird things, but here I want to share a really really precious teaching that I found on you-tube. ย Master Nan teaching how to chant Namo Amituofo with english subs. ย ย http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ikaogv5ZdA ย ย ย ย ย So is that it? You just make a sound "nedaaana mdaana..." and when you need you take a breath? And that's it? Is that a beginner practice or advanced? I don't get it, it seems to easy... taoguy Posted February 18, 2017 (edited) Lol it seems easy but it isn't. ย I read a bunch of his articles and this is what he says. You do it that way so that the mind can quieten down. If you force yourself to take fast breaths or recite it too fast, we start losing chi. So there are 3 ways... ย 1. Recite loud and "deep, low voice" until breath finishes. Stop. Wait for the natural inhalation without forcing it. Then use the new breath to recite again. ย 2. Recite in your mind mentally. ย 3. Recite without moving your jaw or teeth. Only the tongue moves inside while intonating namo amitofo. ย He says that's the reason why so many monks who practice pure land can end up looking starved or weak, because they lose chi while reciting. The key to mantra practice is doing it until it becomes second-nature. Edited February 18, 2017 by taoguy

There are some other "evidence" to support your observations such as Amitabha being the buddha of padma family, which is connected to desire.ย
