Spotless Posted July 22, 2015 (edited) Fasting Day one: 2:30 am I "began" the fast in the middle of the night. That is when I was first in the space of actually fasting and at once it was a relief to my body - my entire space lightened. Morning : 10:30 am The awareness of "my" space this morning is primarily out to about 8 feet and much less centered to within the skin - in other words I feel my energy field in the finer lighter sense to a greater extent than my more tangible physical body and that light extends clearly to around 8 feet or more in all directions. This would not appear to have anything to do with the fast but it is incredibly intense and seemed worth mentioning. It may be in part because it is the second day after coming home from a vacation to the Giant Redwoods up in Mendocino. So far this appears to be a water fast - (with some weak herbal tea). Some Qi Gong this morning and at some point an enema. -- 11:15 The enema seems to make it all real somehow. -- The energy changes today are staggering - still not sure this has anything to do with the fast except perhaps from the mindset that it creates - fasting is an energetic vacation for me and sets the stage for even more of a space of having the universe "living" me. My high chest and throat area have taken a great shift and up into my top most nasal area to the back of the head. The lungs are also prominent. This is all in addition to enormous magnetic and energetic fields that are both within and surrounding the body. Very slowly moving about in this - kind of like holding a strong gyroscope except being wrapped in it and I'm not holding it. -- Their is no feeling of hunger - I have never experienced hunger in any fasts that I have done. I can go to lunch with someone or fix my son's lunch without any problem of grumbling. -- 3:00 It is difficult to walk in this state not because it is hard to put one foot in front of the other but rather just standing or just sitting is almost required - this experience is something to be with and be still with. But I need to leave soon and prepare the room for the class and get settled in there. My dog Merlin is all over me - it seems unusually so. --- Class went well though both before and after class, closing my eyes and sitting is all I wanted to do. Several of us went to the Master's house for dinner - I had some tea - frequently sat with my eyes closed - the intensity never let up and many other areas became equally intense - perhaps the most ever but I have been knocked over like this about every two weeks for a very long time now. -- My sense of smell is becoming much better - this I attribute to the fast though I may be mistaken. -- 10:00pm Merlin will not go to sleep tonight in his usual place in the kitchen - started barking and crying - never does this but my son needs his sleep so Merlin is in the bed with me - lying right next to me. He has not done this since he was a puppy. My hands are full of energy and my energy field is still well defined and out 6-8 feet. Their is nothing spacey in this - the opposite - very very grounded, the energy is solid. -- For a first day of a fast I did not feel the usual "tons of time on my hands" from not preparing food, eating food, cleaning up after food and then doing it all over again. I did not find myself standing in front of the refrigerator - it all seemed co-opted by this massive energy shift which made lack of everything seem perfect and wonderful. I set out to take care of some business but little was accomplished outside of some shipping. For the most part it was a quiet immense day and I look forward to pasting this to the bums and closing my eyes - the feeling is pretty hard to describe and only a small bit of it now appears to have anything to do with the actual fast - though it may have been triggered by the mindset change. As if old patterns of ego being cleaned up and comming to my conscious mind. Any thoughts? It sounds like the monk is giving you good guidance - though I don't know what TRE stands for. Regarding psychosis and other dis-orienting mental and functional difficulties of as you say the temporary nature - our spiritual practices can bring a vast array of difficulties in addition to the wonderful fruits of these labors. Some of the difficulties from the jump in energy from these practices result in indulgences beyond the norm and are often not so harmful as they are great detours - such as constant porn and general hyperactivity and poor choices. Some of this spills over into greater drug use, alcohol use and more extreme anger, depression and general emotional flux. Much of what takes place in the confusion is jumping to conclusions - we are taught to identify and label - we are really driven to it - it is fostered as an ability that shows off our prowess and cunning (and it is also a utility in order to communicate). We want to codify and explain and in this spiritual stuff we are at liberty to talk out our asses with little fear of being caught because we can always say we were misunderstood. For the most part - you do not need to come to a conclusion - some typically exclusionary judgement. If you do not indulge in this mania than you will be less apt to build upon a false base - and building is another thing that one does not "do" - it takes place. Hear this - know the entire universe will arrive for you and is here for you - because it is you and you need only to let it be in you that which it already is - time is an illusion - do not be pushed by fear of it. It would seem the turtle is always running out of time - but it is not in the rush of time - and so it appears on the finish line ahead of the rabbit every time. Serious practice should include dietary changes - and one size does not fit all - you need to learn and understand diet as it relates to you. Aryuvedic dietary study is at the top of dietary study - it includes the entire diet - not just the food that comes into our mouth but all aspects of energies we are bringing into our systems - through our eyes, ears and with senses Western Medicine denies existence. Diet is also something which changes according to our bodies age and in accordance with the energies were are able to work with - diet should always be open to change and should change. The practice we choose (that finds us) should be suited to our nature - otherwise we will not practice it well and it will not hold our interest. This appears simple and it may be or it may not be the case. Mixing different teachings is often a cause of difficulty and practicing what portions of a teaching you like while skipping those you dislike is part of the rabbits path. The rabbits path will require large amounts of recuperation time - that is why the turtles path always is more effective (but less enticing because it is misunderstood - or because some people just don't eat broccoli). Some forms of temporary mental dis-orientation comes from perfectly good practice: Mental fog can come from meditation - this generally passes somewhat quickly. Certain headaches may come - eye strain from incorrect practice but not quit incorrect intent. In advanced practice at certain stages it may appear one is losing ones mind - the capacity to remember things - plan - execute - this can be very scary and one can make an entirely incorrect diagnosis of the situation - in the west we have no guidance regarding this as we have little guidance regarding awakening and enlightenment. The translations that have come to us from the East are extremely poor in relating the finer details of the process - the more guttural levels down where the rubber meets the road and our knees hit the floor. Their are plenty of engineering projects explained in great detail and touted to be of great importance but in reality are no more than detour from the job of eradicating the monkey mind - the engineering projects are monkey mind - but for some - a thousand years of monkey mind is necessary in order to finally realize it is not - and so engineering projects do have their purpose. In response to the poster / quote above - take the time to let any form of the feeling for the need for immediacy - of immediate action - the idea that you must do something - and try to understand that this is the energy of trying to ram a square peg into a round hole. Your whole space needs to calm down and assimilate - it does not need to do - it needs non-doing. In this then look at diet from the Aryuvedic traditions and guidance - you will find simple dietary measures - here in the USA under the rush of "must do, must do, must do" we will think every form of vitamin supplement, bee pollen and Ayahuasca the answer - the rabbits way is a rabbits hole for the most part. Good diet is simple - it just needs some minor adjustments - if you are not identified with those adjustments (such as nicotine, caffeine, white sugar, alcohol, porn, politics) then adjusting your diet can be simple. Also understand the hormonal inertia can be astounding - so come to know what triggers it in you and take care to control these factors. Now I see how it arose within me - the disorientation as you said, I was really trying to name it cause of fear, or understand, but then it was simpy changing from day to day - from very strong feelings, taking off my ablity to speak, to very slight feelings, moving my body or changing the breath. Even my psyhiatrist said that he can't identify what had happened to me and he is amazed how quickly it went out, but he recommends to take some neuro-active medicines for 2 years - haha. I only had some contact with teachers, but only staying in their presence, cause I was to embarrased with talking about it. And my practice was so to say post factum to some spriritual events I experienced withouth even knowing whats going on - I was just trying to understand what had happened to me, and it changed int psychiatric hospital experience (PHE ). So all this, cause of my lack of knowledge, looked like really some kind of a mental ilness - problems with memorry, planning started to be impossible, giving my expensive stuff to people for free , seeing world in a different way than so far, some abilities to see peoples carma (is it real or it is just my imagination?) etc. It gets my familly allarmed, and me myself just left confused - wtf is going on with me? BUt thank you for explanation, it gives me some clarification to this unknow whatever it is, ad some relieve from analysing tooo. THanks a lot. TRE is a kind of exercise that uses the throath ability for healing but profesionalists explain it other way. Funny thing - I was somehow doing it spontaneously when in psychiatric hospital - then, after hmy hospitality this monk showed me a video how to practice TRE, and it looked pretty the same as my spontaneous "exercises" that I copied to some degree from my mothers cats.... (withouth even a sighn thaat people are doing it as a serious threatment - rather I thought Ihave some problems with my coordination...) And you do it lying down. First you need to fatigue the muscles that are close to pelvis and feet for some minutes, then you lie down in an open position with a pillow under your head. Then some spontaneous relase of some parts of personality is happening, through differents shaking, voice emission (vibrations of the body), that sometimes in my case sounds as a bell sound. You end up siting in samadhi, but they call it deep relaxation. Sometimes, while doing it some scenes of your past are comming to your consciousnes - these that are related to some emotional shock, or just some old tapes are passing through your mind. Usually there is no pictures so you dont even know exactly what your body is cleaning of. Looks like that Edited July 23, 2015 by Kubba
Spotless Posted July 23, 2015 (edited) Day two: Breakfast at 9:50 am - a glass of water sitting by the bedside from the previous evening - very good! Ahhh - the wonderful lightness of the fast is setting in! No difference between lying in bed and getting up - the body is already awake and needs no coaxing - though this is generally my state now for several years but in this fast it is even more so - an extra lightness - less inertia - if you fast you will experience this. In the shower I am now using a brush on all of my body - a hogs hair brush or something like that with short bristles to really clean my skin each day - (with the Tea Tree Tingle body wash from Trader Joe's - just happen to enjoy the way it feels). During a fast the body gets rid of lots of built up stuff - it goes on a cleaning spree and our largest organ - skin - goes through many changes. Cleaning it well and stimulating it are both accomplished by brushing it. You can do dry brush massage or in the shower - dry is probably better but I do it in the shower. Big energy shift once again at 10:30 Many different energies today attributed to the fast - but I cannot say this is normal for a fast - this is turning out to be pretty radical by any standard - however it should demonstrate that going on a fast is not debilitating. Today feels a bit like most 4th or 5th days - lots of energy and much lighter feeling - but I am also very grounded - some may not feel so grounded during a fast - this very much depends on the environment and ones general foundation My general magnetic center is now today more in my belly and I feel shorter with more prominent legs and arms. Overall I feel more male energy, cockiness and clarity - feel like skipping and laughing comes easily. The energy field from the base of my spine and up is super strong particularly now while sitting and typing this. Overall everything has changes - my inner core magnetic energy feels more like the center of me and from there the difference moving outward through the skin and into the energy beyond feels pretty much the same unless I specifically focus on it. In other words - the energy centers and the core energy is now what feels like the "physical me" and it has my body and exterior energy field surrounding this core. Prior to this I could feel immense energies in and around my body but this is entirely different - I now feel and "identify" with the "energy" and the body is light and somewhat ethereal by comparison. It is an extraordinary difference - like the body has little substance but the energy is very very real. Earlier in the day I felt considerable warmth on both sides of my back in the muscle areas next to the spine - I think this took place in the theater watching Antman with my son while sitting in half lotus. It was after this that I felt the shift to my belly when walking out of the theater - I (the energy field) was so low and out of the head and upper body that I felt much shorter - it was a strange faintly ape-ish feeling. Had a heaping helping of water for dinner with some tea for dessert - lychee tea. Edited July 23, 2015 by Spotless
Spotless Posted July 24, 2015 (edited) Day 3 6am My mouth had the familiar 3rd day change - it needed to be cleaned - i just spat it out after cleaning my tongue with my front teeth. -- brushed teeth and tongue 11:00 Had Enema (Picking up a lemon to put some lemon juice in the enema water tomorrow) Showered and brushed again - no deodorant. Generally for obvious reasons no deodorant since your whole body is eliminating. I was expecting to repel my own nose but did not smell bad today - even after Qi Gong. Still feel great but feeling my physical body more - it is definitely the 3rd day and my breath was mentioned by my wife. Feel like jumping in bed - but have to pick my son up from sailing camp and need to get some shipments done and then prepare for Qi Gong class - this entails picking up some people, driving to another town and setting up for class - then putting things back and dropping people off - not a task really but I cannot stress how much you should keep day number three clear of any doing if you can. This is not my first time so it is easier and my regular diet (vegan) is much less heavy than most so my system is less cluttered with heavier stuff - still it is not an energetic day. Closing my eye's is as pleasant and intense as ever - it would be a relief to know that I did not need to open them for hours on end today. Sitting still is made easier on fasts - for those who have not done it the amount of time you will find you have on your hands from not eating and planning etc is Hugh. I don't really feel this during this fast so much. 1:15 Nap time - just not into being upright at this time. 2:48 brushed tongue again. Complete change from before nap and after: Big energy throughout - lots of noticeable energy in the legs, feet, arms and hands. Very noticeable center in the throat region but quite high just below chin well above Adam's apple. If your body compels you to nap - take a nap if you can - I feel much better now with extraordinary calm. This is unlike any 3rd day at this point. Normally I experience the need for sleep, more sleep and at least two showers and the loss of the top of my tongue as well as general sluggishness all day and slight roving achiness and sometimes a bit of head fog. I only experienced the very strong want of a nap around 1:00 and I took a 55 minute nap and then in about 1/2 an hour or less my energy came back to full - no sluggishness though a bit smoother and quieter - considerably slower than yesterday. Qi Gong class went well and doing the forms was intense and also filled with "seeing". Quite a bit going on in the students spaces. Had a big fresh hearty brew of water for dinner around 8. Actually I am drinking lots of water and herbal tea. Edited July 24, 2015 by Spotless
Spotless Posted July 25, 2015 Day 4 Starting as a smooth day - brushed teeth More energized than yesterday - feel fine - big energy center has move to mostly my head and very upper throat area. From noon on - lots of changes - I'm not sure what the universe is preparing this body for but learning how to get out of the way feels better and better. Nothing in particular to note today regarding fasting - my sense of smell has become strikingly better. I feel light all the time - the energy center staged mainly in the head and spine all day. Qi Gong was incredible - in certain moves the energy was very strong around my arms and out only to about 2 feet but very easy to see and concentrated. All of the moves were especially powerful and delicate - very slow movements were done - just over an hour - usually around two hours on Fridays but I did not want to push myself which would have been required with my current body energy. Some of the poses require holding them for a considerable time - I broke into a nice sweat and my breath was exceptionally deep and long. Noticed my voice was a bit high and tight. Overall I was definitely a bit spacey at times when needing to do some computer work and shipping. Spacey ness is a problem during fasts and this should be taken into account. Typically once on a physical task this is not a problem - but mentally several things can present problems: 1. Switching gears can be hard - going from creative to mathematical. I once had a business where I might be working with a customer on design and then one of my salesman might need some quick pricing - normally I could blurt out the info they wanted immediately - but during fasting I found flipping the switch quit difficult. 2. Maintaining continuity - you might be on the computer and doing great, then you need to go to mail for something specific and you find yourself 10 or more minutes later having looked through mail and possibly clicked on some thing that interested you and nearly completely forgetting what you went there for in the first place. If you are not your own boss and someone is looking over your work this could be - not so good. If you work for your self or not sometimes you really need to get things done. 3. Sense of balance can be affected - certainly true on the third day - but in general -physical inertia can get a bit bouncy - construction workers should not work and fast - nothing dangerous or with saws and things like that. The lesson here is that certain job performance will be negatively effected by fasting and so it must be taken into account.
Spotless Posted July 26, 2015 (edited) Fast Day 5 Woke up with a fresh feeling mouth and feel great. Enema and shower around 10:30 Full body brushing in shower. On a water fast you can occasionally feel a bit wobbly - this is generally not the case on a juice fast. Regarding the somewhat misleading name "juice" fast - a juice fast is primarily water, herbal tea and vegetable broth with vegetable juices and a smaller portion of fruit juice - fruit juice would constitute about 1/10 of the daily intake or less. In the West the word juice pretty much refers to fruit juice so that is why I wanted to bring this up. I have decided to transition this fast to a juice fast. My wife has decided to go on her first fast and it will be a juice fast so part of it will be for her to see what it really looks like. By around 1:30 I felt fine but clearly low on energy - this has not been the case in years past on any fast during the 5th day - it is usually one where I am very vital feeling and have lots of energy (of course I'm 60 years old now). By about 5:30 I decided to start the juice fast: First vegetable juice drink - all organic ingredients in all items during the fast (and generally in my diet except when eating out). In the juicer went: Carrots, beets, cucumbers - about equal parts carrots and cucumbers and about 1/5th beets. Loved it a shared it with my wife. Later I also created a large pot of broth: Two large red potatoes, one large yellow onion, bag of kale, a clove of garlic and two carrots. Will use it instead of most water and tea now - had a few cups during a movie we all watched together. Edited July 26, 2015 by Spotless

Spotless Posted July 26, 2015 (edited) Soup is food. Fast over buddy! Not soup - just the liquid No protein - no digestion - still fasting. However if you wish to be a pureist no problem. Is a water only fast the only thing you consider a fast? Edited July 27, 2015 by Spotless
Nikolai1 Posted July 26, 2015 Herbal tea fine, juice pushing it a little, potato, carrot and kale soup...well...i guess if you only drink the water there'll be very little energy in it so yes I suppose it is still fasting.
seekingbuddha Posted July 27, 2015 Herbal tea fine, juice pushing it a little, potato, carrot and kale soup...well...i guess if you only drink the water there'll be very little energy in it so yes I suppose it is still fasting. correct. There is probably one tenth of the calories in it when compared to a juice drink. Even juice drinking is considered a fasting practice, so this would be pretty close to a water fast. It would be great if Spotless can carry this into the full moon day, which appears at end of this month. And a meditation on that day/night, after his fasting of 10 days, is considered good.
Spotless Posted July 27, 2015 (edited) Day 6 7:00 am Energy feels normal again - robust and jumping out of bed. Some broth around 9 9:30 Juiced: two apples and three plums - wow - great combo! 11:00 Feel great but take a nap 2:30 Shower - full brush Feel great - peach and plum juice 4:30 Qi Gong Could definitely smell myself during class - no deodorant and pretty good sweat. Feeling extraordinary 6:50 Cup of broth Water here and there throughout the day. Energy center still huge from base of spine and complete head and above. Energy in the throat still very strong. Energy up spine area is continuing to be very wide and extends out the back at least a foot as part of the same magnetic center. Walking often feels like floating - particularly up stairs or hillsides. 8:22 Cup of organic Lemon myrtle, ginseng tea - Buddha Blend Rare Cargo Artisan Teas - one of my favorites www.equatorcoffees.com Definitely planning to go through this week with the fast - going camping in Mnt Shasta on Saturday - not sure how realistic to continue fasting on a camping trip - however it would not be that hard. We are only camping for a week - though doing an enema would probably be out so that is a problem - the thought of fasting without enemas (though I am no fan of actually doing enemas) is not so good - I consider them a health requirement on the water fasts and juice fasts that I do. Full moon is on the 28th - I do a lot of energy work every day but will add some full lotus since it is as you say an apparently auspicious occasion I did some full lotus earlier and it was an immediate energy shift. The overall feeling of what my energy feels like is not possible to describe well. If you have ever had your hands on a gyroscope hand/wrist strength device that is a ball with a gyro in it - then that is what it feels like in my center - with no wobble - a combination of that and a magnet or better still - magnetic field/magnet. 9:45 Cup of broth and off to bed to post this! Feeling very good - closing my eyes feels exquisite - many long opened energy field much stronger and wider - not sure if it has to do with the fast - don't think so - but my body is at rest more so during a fast. Whole space tingles - part of this is the fast! Edited July 27, 2015 by Spotless
Nikolai1 Posted July 27, 2015 You are so gifted at describing the energetics. Thanks spotless! I've tried fasting before but on day 3 or 4 I'm so weak that I can't contribute to family life. I think I don't feel able to say to my wife...'look can you cover for me as if im not here' Especially as I don't know if I would regain strength as you have.

I think I don't feel able to say to my wife...'look can you cover for me as if im not here' Especially as I don't know if I would regain strength as you have. Thank you! Most of the energies I am feeling and describing are not related to the fast - unless it is regarding the ups and downs of the physical energy. I have needed to nap more than on most of my fasts and you are correct - I am able to be fairly lax during most of the day with very little scheduled that I do not have control over. I am on the 7th day now and was wide awake all last night and have already gotten up and let the dog out. I have a busy day today - busier than I would like but my energy was incredible all last night in the sense that the strong column from base of spine to head actually expanded and I heard music - unfortunately I was surprised by the music and it stopped. I will outline the juice fast in greater detail but it is completely fashioned after "Juice Fasting" by Palo Airola - I have misspelled his name - but a search should get you there. The fast he teaches will not wipe you out - a water fast can be much more difficult. I have done many fasts and the majority have been Juice fasting. It is pretty well based in fasting techniques from India - they heal people there with fasting of this type.
SonOfTheGods Posted July 27, 2015 Commendable for posting and sharing while fasting.
seekingbuddha Posted July 28, 2015 Spotless, According to accuweather, full moon is on July 31st. I suspect that the surrounding nights may also have strong energetic effect. Meditation in the quiet of the night, and in open nature (if possible, or in backyard) is auspicious. One should note that during a water fast, the need to pass stool decreases - over time, there is no solid to pass out. So, the need for enema may decrease over days. Congradulations on carrying out a long water fast, and encouraging others with your log.
Spotless Posted July 28, 2015 (edited) Day 7 6am Cup of herbal tea 8:45 Juiced organic blueberries and strawberries. Shower - full body brush 10:30 Juiced organic red bell pepper, carrots and celery. Definitely rethinking this fast - liked the water start and I am liking this transition to the juice fast - I have a ton of energy now. I got out of bed with great energy and was awake all night and have a busy day. I've got to work out injection molding prices on a product, fix a hack into my network, drive a van out of town to be repaired, complete some sailboat work and a bunch of other things - looks like it will be a piece of cake! (Hope I don't get hit by the intense need for a nap - if you need a nap on a fast - take one if you can - often you only need to close your eyes for 20 minutes or so). Note: Have on hand a large strainer for your juices - a small strainer looks perfect but clogs fast - a large strainer allows you to move the strainer around and clog a large surface while letting the clean stuff get through - trust me - and the extra cost nothing. Also - get a Juicer that has a throat large enough to drop an apple into it whole if you can. Seems Hugh but wow what a hassle save. No constant cutting - I have had smaller juicers for most of my life - this is Way Way better. ---- It is hard to describe the changes that took place in this energy field that is "me". The energies were extraordinary and unusually intense though intense is the common norm. When sitting it is slightly like sitting on a rotating energy disc - more disc like than vortex. It is more from the base of my spine and not the first chakra. (The first chakra is quite extended and more ethereal) A similar feeling is also above the head or just at the full crown of the head including the whole scull cap. These are wholly inadequate descriptions. My entire forehead - the whole flat area and down between the brows feels more open and somewhat cool - like many layer are no longer there and - it has a lightness, a lighter color and seeing is now seamless and past pictures come up in extreme detail. The level of vibration affects the spectrum being viewed. Thought clarity - neutrality - higher heart (and with it the emotional neutrality that comes) - very helpful in this rapidly expanding territory - this is a new level upon an old siddhi (skill), similar to before but beyond before. This head energy is also strong in the eye sockets, nasal cavities and teeth and mouth/throat - at one point I had to hold my mouth open a bit - the energy practically demanded it. At 4:30 we all went to see the movie - Zarafa - (it was excellent!). I enjoy seeing movies during this fast because I can sit un-disturbed while still being with my family (driving is the same way). We went to the New Parkway - my wife had a beer and my son had a quesadilla with fries - and I had water - we sat on a sofa and watch the movie - love the new Parkway Cinema - full good menus with beer and wine and great seating - lots of indies - well compensated staff. Not sure what exactly was the timing of everything on this day - I am writing much of it on the 8th day because the energy was too intense to be writing it down frequently "today". I had just broth and tea after coming home from the theater. Will need to make a new batch tomorrow. My energy was excellent for the entire day but fell quickly by 9pm. Congradulations on carrying out a long water fast, and encouraging others with your log. Not long into a water fast the need to pass stool is eliminated - but like "morning mouth" - many elements continue to be expulsed by the body and it is good measure to flush the system with an enema every few days while adding a bit of lemon juice. On a juice fast - unless you are meticulous about Zero pulp - (which I long ago stopped trying to achieve) - you will continue to have some roughage that needs to exit. July 28th is when the moon is at its fullest according to many sources - but I do not think it will matter much. Edited July 28, 2015 by Spotless
seekingbuddha Posted July 28, 2015 To flush the system, one can also try Polyethylene Glycol 3350. This is what is given in preparation for a colonoscopy. It is sold in walmart as ClearLax brand. Lighter doses (than what is recommended on instructions) are sufficient over separated days. Produces output over the following few hours, even at quarter the dosage. An enema will only clear the lower part of the large intestine (sigmoid area) whereas this will clean out the small + large intestine, entirely. This is going the extra mile, because a water fast naturally flushes out even trace toxins in the body. Body's natural healing mechanism will clean out the gut, over the course of days. Larger the amount of toxins in the body, the longer it will take to flush out everything - perhaps these mechanisms will expedite the process. It is worth noting that, during these entire set of days, body must be provided with excess amount of water, much more than the usual 10 or so cups/day. Much more frequent urination than the usual will be the indication that things are going smoothly in the fast.
Fate Posted July 28, 2015 Well this month it is a blue moon, and with the lunar cycle being ~30days it naturally follows that the full moon is on the 31st. Although I've heard from sensitive sources that the peak of energy continues through 3 days before and 3 days after.
Spotless Posted July 28, 2015 (edited) This is the pot I use for the broth "All-Clad" and in the background you can see the large strainer I use when juicing. You can also see that the heat setting is low around 2 out of 10 settings - though I use high for the first few minutes than reduce it and put a lid on it. Picture of 2 strainer sizes for perspective - one would not quite fit my fist and the other is about the diameter of my hand fully open. The smaller one is the standard size. - definitely have a jumbo on hand. Edited July 28, 2015 by Spotless
Spotless Posted July 29, 2015 (edited) Day 8 6:45 am brushed mouth - not bad today, on a fast your mouth will remind you in the morning that you are on one. Cup of tea 8:49 am - still on same cup of tea from early morning. Stretching - and gonging my Gong which I purchased with great recommendations by Gong Master Soaring Crane. The thing is Hugh - love it! 9:45 Juiced: organic beets, carrots, red bell pepper, celery, kale, chard, spinach. Juicing notes: 1. It is best to clean your juicer immediately after use. If you do, it is generally a matter of rinsing lightly most of the time. Most Juicers are centrifugal and cleaning the spinner does not require a tooth brush - a typical scrubbing/sponge with soap will do fine, better and faster. 2. Leafy vegetables are much better juiced in a wad and not cut up at all beforehand. Otherwise much of them will fly into the pulp catch un- juiced. 3. Large pieces in the pulp catch can be thrown into your broth mix - but take care not to put the whole catch in there - it is nice to be able to easily strain hot broth without having pulp build up on the screen and clog it. 4. It is great to have someone near when making juice because you will always overdo the amount you wish to make. A glass of vegetable juice will only need as an example one small beet, one medium carrot, 3 celery sticks (include leafy), one red bell pepper. Instead putting in each group fully at the same try adding a bit of each until the cup hits near full. 5. You will also find as you gain experience that certain foods tend to coat the centrifuge more others - unfortunately often the more expensive ones such as certain fruits like strawberries. So in the case of expensive fruits or ones that don't juice well in the first place you may want to do them first into the clean centrifuge and then clean that off with something like celery, carrot or Apple. ---- Qi Gong - superb. Broth here and there to 1:47 so far Shower - with full body brushing. Also brushing face. My facial skin (all my skin) feels very smooth - definitely a fast related feature. Rest of day: Broth, tea and water - (SeekingBuddha's comment was correct - you want to drink more water or watery drinks than usual). Review of the day since 1:47 My energy was excellent all day and I felt wonderful - the fast related energy is hard to place: my sense of smell is heightened. I feel very clean and my skin and body feel younger and I have lost about 10 pounds and look younger. Business has been cumbersome because I am already in a state that does not have much inertia and now in the fast "doing" is actually feeling a bit like "doing" and effort along with a certain lack of mental concentration makes for odd working habits - though a surprising amount is being accomplished. The energies not related to the fast continue - but it is clear the experience is more clarified in the fast - it is probably why the fast was begun. I walk like a cat, feel the hairs on my body, have a floating feeling and the energy is simply incredible. My spinal center starts well below my actual spine, the whole head region is a magnetic / gyro feeling orb, the front channels are well pronounced and the MCO is always constant. If I take a deep breath my whole forehead / nasal cavity / teeth / throat shift into a Hugh increase that does not decrease in the least if my attention simply stays in it. My eye sockets today feel no strain and my normal sight is better than yesterday. I feel peaceful - attuned to the moonlight. I came home late and many doors and windows were open to the outside - spilling moonlight into the house. In the main bedroom my wife's face glowed in the light of her well dimmed laptop, our son was snoring at her feet. The ocean and the moon make a good couple - the ocean is across the street. Since I have determined to meditate tomorrow night - perhaps it will be on the beach in the light. Tomorrow I will take special time to bring beauty in through my eyes - it has been spectacular around here - maybe a swim is due. Well anyway - I do not wish to bore you with this - this was a fine fasting day! Edited July 29, 2015 by Spotless
