skydog Posted February 27, 2013 Just to clarify I have no personal issue with any attempts to make this board better and I feel you moderators are doing a good job. But for some people like myself, rainbow vein, harmonious emptiness it has a negative effect. I never receive messages from moderators apart from in the past 2 days for posts I have made. I just find it like making the criminals switch places with the prison guards and both change their behaviour. This is my own personal view on it.
Birch Posted February 27, 2013 I agree it's unnerving having it right there under your profile. I don't like this 'prison guard' metaphor thing Sinansencer mentioned at all. My take is that moderation is about helping to provide an environment in which everyone feels they can talk about pretty much any issue without fearing ad hominem or suffering disrespect from the other members. I suspect these issues we're raising on the forum probably have more to do with the issue of asymmetry of respect and the lack of mutual respect IRL, I'd wager. ---personal opinion alert---
Vanir Thunder Dojo Tan Posted February 27, 2013 (edited) There is capacity for each instance to have both a different weight and duration. This is not a system that will be designed to condemn members for an occasional misstep, or a lack of judgement used in isolation. It really is being looked at as a guide. I bolded a portion of your post to really emphasize what I see as a very accurate view of the situation. I just need to know how well i can get away with going 180 if there's no harm done /the pit Edited February 27, 2013 by Northern Avid Judo Ant

skydog Posted February 27, 2013 whereas before I was just fine, this was as much my site as anyone elses and seeing as I felt a feeling of control I didnt feel like a criminal who had to worry about rules. This is much like in school/society where they try to force too many rules on people and people become worse. LaoTzu says a lot about this In the Book Zenmind no mind the author says if you want to control the cows let them have as much space as possible
skydog Posted February 27, 2013 I guess some people like me strongly dislike too many rules
Vanir Thunder Dojo Tan Posted March 1, 2013 I think the only reasonable course of action is to NOT MODERATE A DAMNED THING AT ALL EVER!UNLESSSomeone reports a post.EVEN IF!!!!Even if a post goes against the terms of service.... it caused no harm!If someone reports a post, then and only then should ANY content on the forum be taken seriously enough to enforce moderative or administrative action.Only then can moderators act without pissing everyone off all at once.
