Lindelani Mnisi Posted March 21, 2013 I keep having a spontaneous feeling of electricity flowing within me and along with it is always a feeling of paralyzis, i fight off the paralyzis. I could never understand what was up with that until recently when I downloaded a video talking about astral projection. It said that when astral projecting, some people feel electricity flowing through them and that sleep paralyzis is a part of the process of AP. But the thing is, these feelings occur when I'm wide awake, doing something( in class, walking, etc) but never when I practice AP or fall asleep. I've noticed that the feeling usually comes when I'm in an uncormfortable or unpleasant situation. What's happening? Why is that happening?
三江源 Posted March 21, 2013 Perhaps you are very sensitised to stress and to some degree exit your body when stress is aroused in you. The challenge is to stay grounded in your physical body. To sink, relax, breathe. When we get freaked out our energy rises and we hunch our shoulders and numb the lower part of the body and breathe from the upper chest. We have to start staying grounding in a nice central point of residence in our bodies, and breathing with a regulated breathe and cultivating a sense of inner safety and rootedness.
Seeker of Wisdom Posted March 21, 2013 Chi working through blockages. This is good. If it's too much, cut down on any practices which directly involve chi and do some grounding physical activity.
三江源 Posted March 21, 2013 Chi working through blockages. Could you explain with what basis you are asserting this? Uncomfortable and unpleasant situations CREATE blockages and touch off body memories of previous similar experiences, ie activate past trauma.
Seeker of Wisdom Posted March 21, 2013 (edited) The MIND creates blockages. Unpleasant situations could prompt the mind to create blockages, or to stimulate chi with emotion, and more. My interpretation of this experience could be wrong, but other people have described this electrical sensation in connection to chi working through blocks. I've had a similar thing with heat, and it can be stimulated by emotions in connection to even unpleasant circumstances. Any strong mental event will have some strong effect on chi. It is usually more related to relaxation, clarity and compassion of course, and if negative emotions fester blocks do result. 三江源 Posted March 21, 2013 The MIND creates blockages. Unpleasant situations could prompt the mind to create blockages, or to stimulate chi with emotion. yes. My interpretation of this experience could be wrong, but other people have described this electrical sensation in connection to chi working through blocks. Yes, this is faulty logic. Electrical sensation does NOT equate to working through blocks. It is not that simple, at all. Electrical sensations accompany various types of activation. I've had a similar thing with heat, and it can be stimulated by emotions in connection to even unpleasant circumstances. It is usually more related to relaxation, clarity and compassion of course. I also have had heat arising from emotion. It isnt relevant here though.
Seeker of Wisdom Posted March 21, 2013 Well, I won't bother debating something so inconsequential. Have a good day.
Lindelani Mnisi Posted March 21, 2013 Ok since you guys say I should try grounding myself, is the horse stance a good thing to do?
Seeker of Wisdom Posted March 21, 2013 (edited) Horse stance is more for building (a lot of) chi than grounding. It's a great practice though, which you may want to try when this smooths out a little. For grounding, I'd suggest walking, bare feet on the earth, making things, selfless service, gardening, art... anything creative and/or in nature. 三江源 Posted March 21, 2013 Ok since you guys say I should try grounding myself, is the horse stance a good thing to do? No. Not for you in your situation. be in nature, be with trees, be aware of the earth under your feet no matter what is between you.. shoes or flooring is of no moment... the deep earth is there, connect with the cool grounded energy. What Seeker said.
