No offense to the legend but his movies are really bad with the story line. They are often very cruel. I would prefer to watch any kung fu films dealing with the Chinese antiquity. They all have some mythical themes. The heroes aren't often obsessed with the idea of fighting against the Japanese or the "foreign devils." :)

Any suggestions?

My mistake. I wasn't paying attention. I've ordered these already, thanks.

Look at under TVB and Chinese TV series. http://www.spcnet.tv/tv-series.html

The message board has some posts on the top 10 best kung fu TV series during the 80s.

I had high hopes for Tai Chi Zero. It was okay, hope Tai Chi Hero improves it.

Best Taoism isn't in a movie, its TV, the original Kung Fu series. You can find whole episodes in Youtube. They hit Taoist subjects with a surprising amount of knowledge and integrity, or at least as much as you could get circa late 70's.

Thank you so much. I added Grand Masters to my Netflix. It looks very exciting! I'll check out the TV links as well.

Yeah, Tai Chi Zero was OK. A bit odder than I expected. Looking forward to part 2. :)

The Big Lebowski has a kind of Taoist following. Cracking film with excellent music and a laid back message.

Namaste,

I would highly recommend watching "The Shift" with Dr. Wayne Dyer. The film portrays wu-wei and other Taoist themes very well.

I wrote a couple times or more that Taoism is the Zen in Zen Buddhism.

There was this wuxia movie 40 years ago that was like a whirlwind in the impact that caused in the martial arts movies.

The really great martial arts movies such as 'Crouching tiger leaping dragon' since then confessed to using elements from this particular movie into their own movies.

Not just martial arts, but its directing and the beauty was such that it earned Cannes festival top awards, and one of the best martial arts movie even until now.

And its titled in Chinese was Hsia Nui or Warrior Woman.

The English title was even more appropriate and will grap your attention

A Touch of Zen

If ever I am asked for a Taoist movie, this is it.

Idiotic Taoist

editted 30 minutes later to include this very fascinating critic/commentary for the above Touch of Zen movie

Recently watched 'The Signal' which is a sci-fi with a number of twists in it. The chap who played the character Morpheus plays an excellent part. It is well worth a viewing and it can be seen as a nod to Taoism.

I do like sci-fi movies, and also would add that A Space Odyssey 2001 also has a Tao flavor. :D

If you're looking for Taoist movies, look no further than 'My Dinner with Andrei' and 'Tracks'.

These are essential watching.

Your suggestions are appreciated ;)

Movies about taoism?

- No, because the tao is that which cannot be caught on tape.

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

Tracks - Amazing film, and wow I really do like camels! Brave lady though, to take on such a project. Many off shoot moments in this film, and one to watch again and again. Thanks for recommending this delightful film which encourages inner and outer exploration!!!

Joke: what do you call a camel with three humps?

Answer: Humphrey :D
