C T Posted April 25, 2013 Richard Bach was the first. Â Then the motivational lot, Zig Ziglar, Leo Buscaglia, OG Mandino, and a whole host of others came to the fore. This was the time when i was immersed completely in amassing wealth and having the right wind in the sail affirmed my ambition. Â After that, during the weaning phase, it was Alan Watts. Â Followed by Ma Anandamayi. Devotional phase. Â After that, met my root guru, Rinchen, who opened to me a world where i have never been before. Â For literary fun, i dig all buddhist works by the various adepts and saints, especially Thinley Norbu, Longchenpa and Lama Govinda. Â Nothing too sensational happened. No kundalini waves, everything just quite casually neat and collective, in fact. Â Â What about yours?

Cat Pillar Posted April 25, 2013 Richard Bach was the first. Â Me too!! A friend of mine loaned me a copy of "Illusions" and told me I should read it. It pretty much rocked my worldview and jump-started my interest in figuring out just what this reality thing is. Â Others that have helped me the most: Â Robert Monroe Robert Bruce (these two helped crack open my worldview even further) Lao Tzu Greg Goode Michael Lomax Alan Wallace (most recently) Â And I have to say the conversations here at TTB's have helped me immensely as well. Nothing like live interaction to see how things play out dynamically.

eye_of_the_storm Posted April 26, 2013 (edited) . It's not just the "good guys" for without the "bad guys" who would be the good guys be, and how strong would they be without being proven against all odds?  Yes haha  I had a similar thought also after the post... pondering my own // Much bigger question than I had first imagined.  Maybe I should have said rather than helped... most resonated / in agreement with or the like.  Ah well... good stuff so far!  My idea originally was that folks starting on the path could have a nice list of people / thoughts etc to look into if they so wished.  It takes some time to sort out what is good and what is not (but then who is to say...+ as you say above)  Hopefully I nice little kickstart for some... or even potential new sources for the more traveled Edited April 26, 2013 by White Wolf Running On Air
C T Posted April 26, 2013 Come to think of it, there was Snoopy, who did his bid to shape my world when i was 10 or so.... Â "My life has no purpose, no direction, no aim, no meaning, yet I'm Happy. I cant figure it out. What am I doing right?", bemused Snoopy. Â Another time, he told his friend, "If you put your supper dish to your ear, you can hear the sounds of a restaurant." Â Cool philosopher, Snoopy is. A real immortal.
