Apech Posted May 9, 2014 This (and what most of this forum talk about) seems to be some weird mixture of New Age, occult and folk superstition. Demonic spirits?! Really? I thought people in the 21st century would be smarter than this. Laozi's teachings were more about common sense than chinese superstition. I honestly won't be surprised if you lot start talking about UFO's and aliens next. Everything else has been covered. P.S. Jesus can go fuck himself. Why are so many people quoting him? This is a taoist forum. (From the quote a few pages back, i wonder why he only wants 'little children' in heaven, LOL Don't worry UFOs and aliens have been covered on TBs many times. If you read around about TBs you will see this is an open and eclectic forum where people are free to express themselves and practice a wide variety of systems and so on ... so if you come here expect many views differing from your own.

As great a book as it is, there's far more to Taoism than the Tao Te Ching. And this forum isn't strictly Taoist. Welcome.

So why is it a taoist forum? Why not call it something different, as clearly it's for people who think they can become superman from yoga, or people who can't make up their minds and are still in love with jesus. You guys mock Li hongzhi and scientology, but i see no difference here. Edited May 9, 2014 by Ryan94

You guys mock Li hongzhi and scientology, but i see no difference here. I think the clue is in the name. Tao Bums is like Dharma Bums by Kerouac ... if you read that book you will see a lot of free thinking vaguely focused on dharma but not strictly adhering to anything much. GrandmasterP Posted May 10, 2014 (edited) You forgot about the tinfoil hat and butt- wire BKA. Gotta have a tinfoil hat and butt-wire before the Space Panda people will let anyone in. That's the rules! Edited May 10, 2014 by GrandmasterP
Apech Posted May 10, 2014 You forgot about the tinfoil hat and butt- wire BKA. Gotta have a tinfoil hat and butt-wire before the Space Panda people will let anyone in. That's the rules! You know those chains they used to hang from the backs of cars to stop travel sickness. You could have one of those to earth your backside ... it would be entertaining to walk around with a jungle jangle all the time.
effilang Posted May 10, 2014 (edited) Hey Ryan, The core of Laozi's teaching is not about common sense. Common sense will yield common merits and common virtues and rewards. Perhaps you mean Kongfuzi? Laozi's teachings like many other Taoist texts can be very cryptic and many people can accidentally take his words literally when they are symbolic on many occasions and refer to the alchemical path. I belive that Laozi strived to convey a message that encouraged people to explore beyond the capacity of the common mind, the common thought and the common way of people; once again something closer to Kongfuzi. In regard to why Jesus Christ is being discussed in this thread or whatever else topic... I see no problem with it. After all there wasn't any Christianity until after Jesus,so his life falls within the achievements of any ordinary man seeking to be closer to the origin. Authentic spiritual Taoism is not a religious practice. It is a method, a way, whereby the expedient evolution of our consciousness, that is, us and who we really are,can be achieved. That is all we are doing. Evolving our consciousness through experience and interaction with others consciousness, be it of a low level or high level of development. Now,since all things have some degree of consciousness and certainly all humans, then I think it would be very anti-Taoism to argue that Jesus does not have a place here. Strip away the names, the schools, the methods. Take away Laozi and Chuangzu, take away everything and all you will have left is consciousness. Mine, yours, hers, his, its.. Authentic Taoism is about evolution and all things evolve. Edited May 10, 2014 by effilang

It's actually quite the opposite. You can pretty much say or believe anything you want without fear of being banned/sensored just as long as it isn't comercial spam, illegal content, or a direct threat of violence or legal action against the admin (or a member if the threat is on-site). http://mopaidebate.com/discussion/3/forum-rules#latest Edited May 10, 2014 by KenBrace
GrandmasterP Posted May 10, 2014 (edited) Thanks Ken. I'm not even a member on Space Panda but seem to have two threads going under my name over there. At least the original thread has been more politely renamed from its original title. :-) Edited May 10, 2014 by GrandmasterP

I was starting to have bad opinions about Taoism and it's followers, considering by the amount of misinformation, and disinformation spread around the place, especially by those who call themselves a 'grandmaster'. I'll be looking out for your posts a lot more.
