voidisyinyang Posted July 16, 2013 Making text larger, bolder and bright red does not help your argument any. Someone isn't going to agree with you just because it's "louder". On a side note, we were very fortunate here in Canada to have the current Enbridge project not approved recently. Of course there will be more in the future though; it at least sets a good precedent. The red large text should not be a formatting option apparently. haha. It's actually just a type of response to people's past 500 years of ignoring structural racism. The issue goes back to Plato. Form is content. Which Enbridge Project are you talking about? I'm in Minnesota and so the Native Indians have been protesting the new Enbridge project which will be as big as the Keystone Project that so many people have protested against. Not much attention to the Enbridge Project though. Enbridge is currently seeking permission to increase the amount of oil from 450,000 barrels to 570,000 barrels per day, but was added another application to the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (PUC) to increase the flow to the maximum of 880,000 barrels. This is the same diameter of pipeline the TransCanada Keystone XL, 800,000 barrels per day, which is under great scrutiny in its Presidential Permit application. Yep protesting -- http://www.ienearth.org/enbridge-spill-in-viking-mn/ Making noise, being loud and colorful. I have a masters degree in protesting. Compare it to billboards which are a tax deduction for corporate advertising - big loud, and a way to decrease the amount of monies going to education, healthcare, food stamps, etc. CORPORATE ADVERTISING. haha. Mind control. No one complains about billboards. ralis Posted July 16, 2013 (edited) Ralis, hi Thank you for your thoughts on this. I can see how each suggestion could be helpful and, more importantly, within the realm of possibility. Is there a reason you chose four years for the ipr/patent maximum? I would think 8-10 years would be more fair to enable full recoup of any R&D costs, and enable maximum profits, yes for a longer limited time period but not so short it would discourage funding creativity. But maybe there is something I'm not aware of that makes four years the better option? warm regards Here is one example of a new transportation technology being open source as opposed to patent. http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/07/15/billionaire-entrepreneur-elon-musk-to-unveil-secretive-hyperloop-design-in-august/ Edited July 16, 2013 by ralis
voidisyinyang Posted July 16, 2013 The Enbridge “Alberta Clipper” runs from Hardisty, Alberta, Canada, through a bit of northeast North Dakota, across northern Minnesota to the city of Superior, Wisconsin (sister city to Duluth, Minnesota, on Lake Superior). There are multiple tar sands oil pipelines to transport Enbridge diluted bitumen to the Midwest, and to the East and Gulf coasts for export. Enbridge is currently requesting a 26.6 percent (120,000 barrels per day) increase in sands oil through the “Alberta Clipper” pipeline from 450,000 to 570,000 bpd. We await the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission decision on the Clipper increase with our presence on the land and at hearings, with comments and public pressure. The next increase, already in the works, from 570 bpd to 880,000 bpd would bring the total to a 97.85 percent increase in the existing pipe. That increase would require stronger pumping pressure as well as more pumping stations. It would carry a greater volume than the Keystone XL designed to move 830,000 bpd. An Enbridge sands oil spill on July 25, 2010, was flushed into the Kalamazoo River (Michigan) where clean up costs are approaching $1 billion. http://wammtoday.org/2013/07/11/susu-jeffrey-keystone-in-minnesota-enbridge-and-the-alberta-clipper/ https://www.facebook.com/EnbridgeBlockade

So, I guess the answer to my question as to why the four year max was chosen by you is that is the longest you could stomach? Fair enough. Thanks for your replies! Most appreciated. ralis Posted July 17, 2013 you sound like a feudal lord yourself or an official in government service if you think 34,000/year is chicken shit Do you even read what I post? Koch is twisting the 1% debate in this country. He is advocating eliminating the minimum wage. I would appreciate you refraining from the incessant need to know where I am from or anything about me. narveen Posted July 17, 2013 You have a problem with evolution and man made climate change? yes, i have because both are controversies and either one has scientists supporting it. not that i agree with any of them Opinions are one thing but to refute scientific research without evidence or understanding the research is ludicrous. what research? show me. i have two degrees in engineering and will not be wasting your time if you offer your research material for my review and discussion. The research is factual and not controversial as to evolution and you can read books online or check out at your local library. Furthermore, it is religious conservatives quoting the bible that have created the so called controversy in regards to evolution. Evolution is only controversial in their narrow minds. I suppose you believe the earth is 6000 years old? Having two degrees in engineering proves what in regards to evolutionary theory? Does that make you an expert? There is another thread here devoted to discussing AGW so I am not going to waste my time with you on that. Edited July 17, 2013 by ralis
