And when I say sugar, I mean crappy sweets, chocolate, ice cream, microwave meals, processed foods, even certain types of fruit (seem to be loaded with pesticides) oh and commercial fruit juice. So hard to shop though - everything has sugar in it nowadays - healthy wise - if you limit sugar intake to less than 10% of your total carb intake, you are golden.... Don't go shopping when you are in a bad mood or hungry - and don't have anything around the house that you don't want to eat, and don't drink alcohol...I can always expand on this, as its something I am still working on...you will probably want to make sure you are eating enough good fats too, and then your appetite for sugar destruction will be reduced.. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Tom Lin Posted July 4, 2013 i used to be a sugar fiend, but i'm at a point now where i've cut it out completely from my diet (refined sugar that is). I am very content with the sugar/natural fructose from the fruits. If your looking for something natural to curb your sugar cravings, try your hand at "dates" or any other dried fruits such as prunes, figs, and raisins. xor Posted July 5, 2013 Almost free of artificial sugar now with minor lapses of half candy bar a week maybe. Teeth, stomach, heart and eyes in this order I can feel the difference. konchog uma Posted July 7, 2013 i dont eat sweets except for drinking kombucha and some occaisonal dark chocolate and my life is better for it. no story to inspire you except to say that. Refined food sucks, go organic, go natural, get away from all adulterated food. Your palette will change in time and sugars will seem saccharine and nasty like they really are. raimonio Posted July 8, 2013 Lots of dietary threads around (2) I've been without any sugar for almost three years now and it has turned my life over, although it is also because of no grains and processed foods. I was one year with low carb, then one year with a fruitarian diet, now again one year on low carb. People think that fruits are equilevant to sugar but that is not true. The fructose that is used in processed foods sure, but when you eat a whole fruit its a different story. I can understand, that for a normal person, cutting sugars or any other thing is very hard. I mean if you are already healthy enough, why go trough the trouble? However, sometimes the eating of those sugars can have such a nasty effect on you, that you get to a point, where you have no other choice. That is what happened to me. I had candida, which was cured with low carb. Then I actually got a severe case of IBS because of eating so much meat and oils. Started on fruitarian diet. Healed my IBS, went back to low carb and realized it had been propably, because I had used so much spices and olive oil, which didnt work for me. At worst my IBS was at a level, where eating a single meal of meat would make my stomach have unbearable pain for an entire day. With candida my symptoms were mainly psychological. My candida symptoms included not being able to sleep for 8 years (more than 2-4 hours a night), unbearable panic attacks and an anxiety that was always there, depression, mood swings that didn't have any logical cause-effect relation with what was going on, a severe brain fog where my memory didn't work and I felt unreal at all times, like at the brink of a psychosis. I tried to treat myself trough psychotherapy and antidepressants, didn't do jack shit. Although I must admit that I had real psychological problems aswell, namely drug addiction etc. before all of this started. I thought that I was being punished for using drugs. I mean I was really willing to do everything, I quit drugs, went back to school, started doing sports etc. but all there was, was pure extreme pain. In the end all of the 8 years worth of suffering went away in 2 months after starting low carb diet with anticandida herbs. The remaining psychological problems and cronic fatique I am still fighting with today, but 70% of that has gone away trough practice of nei gong I have estimated, that within a few years I will be completely healed I encourage everyone to let go of sugars, processed foods and grains, the kind of happiness and health you can achieve is unheard of. You never get sick, you always have a stable mind and energy, your cognitive functions are enhanced, you feel good even if there is no reason for it, you got more energy than before etc etc. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
i am Posted July 8, 2013 (edited) I don't know if its this way with you, but i find that if I think I want something to change in my life, for long enough, it eventually just kind of "happens". Coffee was a hard one for a while. I didn't get headaches if I didn't drink it, I just wanted it. Would get to work having not had coffee, feel fine...then around 9 or so...be sitting there and decide screw it I'm getting some coffee. Then one morning...the craving was almost non-existent. Still there, but not bad at all. I figured "well, do it while its easy!" and that's what I did. I might have coffee once every couple months now, but otherwise I'm strictly green tea. The same has happened with my diet and alcohol consumption. I've "tried" before to eat how I know I should...it kind of works. But I've found that at some point I'm just doing it. And if I take advantage of those times when it feels "easy" to make the change, that starts some kind of momentum. I have a couple squares of dark chocolate after dinner. That's about it for me, for sugar, other than some incidental sugar when I end up eating chips or something processed that always has sugar these days. And I feel it! I have ice cream probably a dozen times a year. If I'm out at dinner with friends we usually order one or two desserts, and 6 forks a couple bites each. And I don't stress or worry about that stuff. Because there's no addiction there for me. I feel the effects, but I think that having sugar a couple times a month isn't going to hurt my spiritual progress much. raimonio Posted July 8, 2013 Yea that is also very true. I have battled with several addictions and sugar cravings etc. and can say, that it is always a process, not something you do right away.. Jainarayan Posted July 8, 2013 Aw what the heck, I'll jump in too. I rarely have sugar except in fruit. I don't put sugar in coffee or tea (no, just sucralose ). I drink coffee, but I mix 2/3 decaf with 1/3 caff. Once in a blue moon I may have honey with something. Yesterday, however, all bets were off. I had a large brownie with chocolate ice cream, then I had chocolate/nuts/coconut ice cream from Cold Stone Creamery. I thought I'd need a tranquilizer dart. skydog Posted July 12, 2013 (edited) Hi guys, thanks for the posts. SO I did this for like a week and a half, and slowly started to feel much more grounded. Although Ive been doing other things like trauma release which help etc. But anyways I intuitively walked to the shop for 15-20 minutes sungazing, then bought four toblerone bars. All the energy got distorted and I felt so high last night, like I would just burst out laughing for no reason and going to bed was actually painful like my heart and third eye were actually burning with energy. So I think it was partly sungazing but also the sugar. Yes...kinda cool to get like that, but also a massive distortion of energy. I have fruit sugar and protein bar sugar. Songtsan Posted July 12, 2013 yeah but complex carbs are a lot better than simple...especially if they have a lower glycemic index....I personally think the best diet, for most people even, is a lower carb diet - around 40-45% carbs by caloric amount of total caloric intake. It is far less stress on the pancreas, insulin levels stay more regular, damage to cardiovascular system is reduced, plus % body fat improves...
