Excuse my ignorance but does it seem like Islam is extremely violent? I know this cant be a "whole body" thing as I know of 1 Muslim who is an incredible person and I'm sure there are more like him. Is it a media smear campaign or is Islam really this violent?

certain factions under the umbrella are not happy to be in the shade, it appears.

born & raised in a muslim country, not a muslim myself, but have many peace-loving, warm & wonderful muslim friends there.

aBRAHMANic media. haha.

In his History of the Jews, the Jewish scholar and theologian Flavius Josephus (37 - 100 A.D.), wrote that the Greek philosopher Aristotle had said: "...These Jews are derived from the Indian philosophers; they are named by the Indians Calani." (Book I:22.)

Clearchus of Soli wrote, "The Jews descend from the philosophers of India. The philosophers are called in India Calanians and in Syria Jews. The name of their capital is very difficult to pronounce. It is called 'Jerusalem.'"

"Megasthenes, who was sent to India by Seleucus Nicator, about three hundred years before Christ, and whose accounts from new inquiries are every day acquiring additional credit, says that the Jews 'were an Indian tribe or sect called Kalani...'" (Anacalypsis, by Godfrey Higgins, Vol. I; p. 400.)

Martin Haug, Ph.D., wrote in The Sacred Language, Writings, and Religions of the Parsis, "The Magi are said to have called their religion Kesh-î-Ibrahim.They traced their religious books to Abraham, who was believed to have brought them from heaven." (p. 16.)

There are certain striking similarities between the Hindu god Brahma and his consort Saraisvati, and the Jewish Abraham and Sarai, that are more than mere coincidences. Although in all of India there is only one temple dedicated to Brahma, this cult is the third largest Hindu sect.

I did not notice this incident on the frontpage of any western media website.

Maybe they feel guilty for misleading people against Buddhists?

Yes,...those are word for word the same sentiments of the neighbors of the brothers who bombed the Boston Marathon

Read the Qu'ran,...and decide for yourself if Islam is violent,...against all who are not Muslim.

My point,...people are not their beliefs,...although they believe they are. I love all people,...I loathe all beliefs.

Me neither,...the "Mecca" of Buddhism attacked with 9 bombs,...if someone even spit at Mecca, if would be a headline on the Western Media.

I'd bet against these real terrorist making the cover of Time magazine.

Westerners are threatened by Dharma, whether Buddhadharma or Hinduism.

This is documented in "Breaking India" by Rajiv Malhotra.

If people want to start there own daily or weekly anti moslem site perhaps it should done elsewhere. I understand the conspiracy minded think the Jews and Christians are covering up bad news about Moslems cause theye're all Abrahamic but that's stupid. While there's not a whole lot news on the attack <few headlines though easy to find on the web>, if you look through Latest Headlines under Google you find 4 of the first 10 top stories have elements that can be considered anti Moslem. Syria, Egypt & Lebanon have been making front pages nearly every day this month.

Its not so much conspiracy as much as budget cuts have decimated foreign newsrooms. Thus we hear little about India and really most countries. We end up with short attention copy cat articles because its cheaper.

Anti Islam stories are out there. Unfortunately they pop up here every other day too. Which I think is too much. If its near and dear to your heart print it somewhere else or maybe in a Personal Practice section. This is an eclectic philosophy site, not a soap box to launch attacks. We have people from all walks of life and religion here, when criticism becomes unbalanced, new threads against the same group popping up every other day, we lose members, prospective members and the board becomes a magnet for negativity.

I don't consider a few threads out of bounds, but new threads every other day degrades the board. IM (non moderator)O. If you gotta spew it daily, do it somewhere else. We're not that kind of board. But there are many that welcome such pile ons.

My 2 bits.

Exactly. The holiest site in Buddhism was multiple bombed in a coordinated terrorist attack.

You would think there would be more attention paid.

Fundamentalist mindset is the problem. Fundamentalists 'know' there way is the best and should be the only way. Not always, but too often they turn bigoted and prejudiced.

Its a trap for us to. To live in the world, know what's going on and keep your mind and heart open.
