ralis Posted July 12, 2013 ralis, if you ever have the opportunity to go to St. Petersburg/Tampa, FL, be sure to check out the small Dali Museum in St. Petersburg. I haven't been back since my first visit, but hope to some day. Â That particular museum is on my list. The National Gallery of Art at the Smithsonian is absolutely mind blowing! zerostao Posted July 12, 2013 Kandinsky    ... and if anyone says modern art is rubbish ... bollocks to you. art stays true to the spirit of the current age this is the way its always been we can each have our own personal favorite age some may prefer the renaissance and others the post modern age but we cannot go dissing any of them an example of how art leads science is when jackson pollock's work gained the attention of scientists and new fields in fluid dynamics physics came into being

ralis Posted July 12, 2013 I get a kick out of you  Juliete Prowse was an amazing dancer. I fell in love with her when I was around 8 years old. I believe it was while watching an Elvis movie.
zerostao Posted July 12, 2013 simple jacks contributions here are kinda in the flavor of dadaism and the dadaist , some of them , offered some merit, others imo not so much penciling in a moustache on the mona lisa imo isnt art it is more a statement that art shoudnt be looked at in the way the OP presents it so as i much appreciate tristan tzara's manifesto ,(becoz it resolutes strongly with my anarchist ideal) i am not so much in appreciation of their appreciation (lack of) for art
zerostao Posted July 12, 2013 i understand the spirit of the dadaist especially for their time. they were frustrated and understanably so as the world wide madness of that time was about to descend into the depths of hell of WW! in europe so i can see them dissing the establishment of their time but why diss on art from another age? ralis Posted July 12, 2013 Are we venturing into deconstructionism/postmodernism? Are those movements any less spiritual than the great periods of classical art? Although classical was just another expression for the time.
zerostao Posted July 12, 2013 ok, sure when i first saw duchamps mona lisa i snickered but does that make it art? does the artist use a brush that gives us very broad strokes, or, is it a finer brush, one like dali used , that put you in awe, that is a truer definition of art? Â so the spirit of the age, the ideal, the idea and the energy contained in that age is what defines art really. napolean on the horse, the landscape wasnt the focus. the alps are majestic and all that, but it was the ideal of napolean that captured the spirit of that age. when the painting was produced it was hoped that the chap on the horse would be the liberator and the sacker of tyranny. i am sure the artist was later disapointed in how all of that turned out. a hero boldly on a charged white horse crossing the alps to over turn tryanny was the ideal of the art. Apech Posted July 12, 2013  Garnet Lake, California -- Ansel Adams   Talk about an artist who could capture the essence of a landscape.  That's nice ... better than that chap on a horse anyway.
Songtsan Posted July 12, 2013 WTF, is the meaning of someone or something being "spiritual"? Â divine! to some people the most mundane things can be spiritual - such as riding a motorcycle, or eating sushi.
