Biblical exgesis, in my opinion, teaches you either take the bible literal, or figuratively.

There is no doubt in my mind, the authors of the bible wanted their scriptures to be taken literally.

There for, this book is nothing short of murder, rape, plunder and every form of human evil under the sun, all with their god's blessing.

The Abrahamic religions, taken as face value, has done nothing but cause more problems on this planet than any single good it has ever done.

These Abrahamic religions, which all share the same diety/demi-urge, will be the catalyst for human genocide arising from World War 3.

It's a virus, a cancer, and a plague- a bad energy thoughform that has tentacles reaching into finances, government, healthcare and military.

It even encompasses Western Magick.

There are more christian churches than ever before, and man is at the edge of destruction.

The followers eagerly await their messiah to return, while destroying the Earth and counting on his return to fix it..

The patriarchial rulership has denigrated females into nothing more than pets..

The followers can do no wrong, because all is forgiven, and have tax exempt status on top of it all.

Muslim and jewish slaugterhouses, kill their animals, by cutting the throat and bleeding them - they are being sacrificed all day long to energy empower their blood lustful demi-urge.

What is spiritual about any of it?

end of rant, lol which you guys forced me to say

Hi SonOfTheGods,

Interesting comments, but your focus seems to be on the Old Testement and in taking the words literally. This thread is focused on the broader meaning of The Lord's Prayer and more generally the words of Jesus.

Do you have any examples supporting your positions on things like denigrating women in Jesus's words in the Gospels? Or, more broadly in any other texts of Jesus's words like in the Gospel of Thomas?

It would be helpful if you could provide some support in Jesus's words for your positions.

Thanks,

Jeff

Yes, the Old Testament has been "debunked" by even mainstream Israeli scholars, such as Israel Finkelstein.

Hi Alwayson,

I thought you might appreciate Father Baron's stating the Catholic Churchs position regarding the perception of God in the Old Testement.

p.s. I am not Catholic, so it won't hurt my feelings if you don't like the video. :)

Jesus calls a Canaanite woman a dog

Matthew 15:22-26

A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is suffering terribly from demon-possession.” Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.” He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.” The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said. He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to their dogs.”

Hi SonOfTheGods,

Very disappointing on how you only took a limited section of the passage to create a misleading picture. Here is the full text...

Matthew 15:22-28 KJV

"And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour."

Best wishes on your path.

Jesus still called her a dog, despite what he said later on, which was not essential to my point.

Call a female a dog and later on apologise, - let me know how it goes for you

good luck on your path too :)

here's some more sayings of jesus:

But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them--bring them here and kill them in front of me.

Luke 19:27

The Old Testament still stands:

“It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid.” (Luke 16:17)

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest part or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place.” (Matthew 5:17)

“Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law” (John7:19)

Hi SonOfTheGods,

Now I definitely understand what you mean by literal...

The passage is about showing how the power of faith can transcend cultural and religious prejudice. Somehow very fitting for our discussion... :)

Best wishes,

Jeff

No it doesn't. Only to those who want to bend meanings to say what they want it to say.

here's an example:

We should fear God (Matthew 10:28)

We should love God (Matthew 22:37)

There is no fear in love (1 John 4:18)

All Abrahamic religions treat women like scum.

Why is that?

------------

"But anyone who says 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell." (Jesus) Mat 5:22

"You fools!" (Jesus) Luke 11:40
"You blind fools!" (Jesus) Mat 23:17
"How foolish you are" (Jesus) Luke 24:25

"But God said to him, 'You fool!' " (Jesus) Luke 12:20

"You foolish Galatians!" (St. Paul) Galatians 3:1
"You foolish man" James 2:20

Glad jesus was not my teacher

Hi SonOfTheGods,

You are doing it again... :)

Even at the beginning of the section Jesus says it is a parable....

Luke 19:11-27 KJV

"And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear. He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us. And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds. And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities. And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds. And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities. And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin: For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow. And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow: Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury? And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds. (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.) For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him. But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me."

Please put your quotes in appropriate context.

If someone uses a parable on facebook that says they were going to kill someone, they would go to prison.

You can not cherry pick verses out of the bible.

If jesus was so holy and pious, full of zen, he should use less violent parables.

Jesus is just like his daddy yahweh, a blood thirsty demon.

Don't get mad, bro - you wanted me to engage you :)
