Eric23 Posted May 8, 2007 For whatever it's worth... When I first read the bit about xing shen zhuang fooundation training it sounded very interesting and something worth looking into. So I googled it and came up with about 10 pages of possible links. At the top of the page is the Xing Shen Zuang Society of Singapore. Click on their methods page and you have complete written, detailed instructions for all ten movements plus a whole lot more. I fully understand and realize that only a live teacher can fully explain and transmitt the knowledge. I teach a course at our local university so the student/teacher relationship is very real to me. It's no coinsidence that every C or D I ever gave out went to students with poor attendence. I also know that I taught more while answering questions than from my lecture notes. I'm rambling now, but my point is that the information that was given has already been out in the public domain for a while.
gendao Posted May 8, 2007 (edited) In any case, this practice is not one size fits all. It requires life commitment and a most serious approach if any success is expected to happen. Most people are just content to play with techniques and energy. This is a perfectly fine approach, it just takes a greater understanding and level of seriousness to achieve anything close to awakening or enlightenment, concepts that get tossed around all to lightly as 'Matters of Curiousity.'I agree. Extraordinary results require extraordinary effort...  Levitating and walking through walls are truly extraordinary and amazing!  But so are the efforts required to reach that. I mean, I find the ability to give up the paper/puzzy-chase and dedicate your whole life to the pursuit of one otherworldy goal - amazing. Or to sit in meditation for 30 days. Or, just to meditate for 8 hrs/day for 10 years! Or just to go 4 months without jizzing? Honestly, these are not "paranormal" or physically impossible, but perhaps not THAT much less amazing and almost "superhuman" in terms of real life difficulty.  Anyhow, I will say that for me, vidiami's re-cap did do some good for verification purposes. I am not following the same method by far but am apparently striving for the same very basic foundational goals. Or maybe that's a gross misinterpretation, but again as I am not following that method anyways it doesn't matter. Just saying, the "karma" here may not be all as entirely bad as you might fear...  I think mature people here take everything with a grain of salt and are their own judge, as Buddha advised. This includes technical advice, gossip, etc etc. If anyone blindly accepts everything they read on the net with zero critical thinking - hey I have a bridge in Brooklyn... I'm rambling now, but my point is that the information that was given has already been out in the public domain for a while. Â This may be the case. More power to you. David is making a video the Xing Shen Zhuan next year for people to enjoy. This is not the part of the practice at issue. It's just a qigong form that David teaches to support the practice. I will say that it is the most effective and dramitic, interms of results, form that I have ever emcountered. There are many people teaching it around Mt. Emei and several versions, some more effective than others. Â What's at issue is the foundation practice that Shifu Wang Liping teaches. This info is not in the public domain, even if it was you would need the background in the principles and methods, plus effective transmission and the guidence of a qualified teacher. If people can find these elements elsewhere and put it into practice effectively, I say good for them. That's their business. They would have a solid basis in the basics. Â BTW, there are other teachers out there who are qualified and teach sound methods. Some people here behave as if I'm presenting a monopoly. The truth is not this extreme, yes they are rare, but they are there for those who look hard enough.

Or maybe that's a gross misinterpretation, but again as I am not following that method anyways it doesn't matter. Just saying, the "karma" here may not be all as entirely bad as you might fear... Â This is exactly what I'm talking about. Vidiami tells you to straighten your spine out and you think this has something to do with foundation or might have. Â I don't think the karma of one person will cause any big problems in the world. I'm more concerned that a fellow student understand the expectation of our school and that people don't get deluded. In the end Vidiami is really the only one this affects in a 'big' way. Â It's really pretty simple and no, in the larger picture, not that important. But still it's important to have accountability. sean Posted May 8, 2007 Totally arrogant and ignorant statement. You should try politics dude. Oh yeah? Well ... DentyDao Posted May 8, 2007 I have to admit, I do like this more assholish side of SeanO more than the PC peace maker he used to be, at least more so. I think he's evolving into a more passionate admin and setting a example of, 'If your going to play, get down in the dirt and play and stop fucking around.' Â Maybe we can just all start insulting eachother more as a rule; kind of break the ice and provide some much needed therapy for Cameron who has been repressing is rage since grade school and frankly needs to unload on some poor bastard who has no idea what he's in for. Â I think we all need to get more in touch with our inner warrior. In a non-violent way of course. This God Damn PC world view we are transitioning into is basically the castration of the American male. It's reflected in most popular TV shows where Dads are always the buttheads who fuck everything up. Robert Bly talks about this in his writing which I recommend to every man over thirty who has kids. His book called 'Iron John' is groundbreaking. He like the deviant Joseph Cambell... in a good way. Â Anyway, that's the beauty of the internet, you can't slap someone for disagreeing with you
Wayfarer64 Posted May 8, 2007 I studied with a Grand Master in the HungGar tradition of shaolin. We were not allowed to teach or study outside of the system, but we also paid NO MONEY to become "inner desciples" and learn some amazing things. We painted his house, schleped what ever was needed by him, we even chipped in and I bought a lions' head in Hong Kong and a huge drum to ship it in - that became the pride of our system the next New Year's celebration, and beyond. I was spit upon and had garbage thrown at me as I made my way to the little store that sold the lions' head and drum. It was deep in Hong Kongs' crazy-quilt of by-ways. When I came out no one spit at me and many were contrite. I got many bows and meek smiles. Respect is earned through activity and then the understanding of what the other is doing. Â My Master's Master had scorned him at one time for teaching us round eyes. But years later he also began to teach westerners. Things change. Anyone can grow, grow up and open up over time - with the help of compassion and an open mind. Maybe even Sean D. I hope so, he seems to have some potential, if a bit emotionally high strung. His erudition has clouded his receptors and reality may be a hard smack to him when he arrives at it one day. Let us try to be kind to him. His arrogance is his own enemy to conquer, not ours. All we can do is help him become aware of it. So- I wish you well Sean, you have chosen a path you seem ill suited for. By the way - I took you off my ignore list a few days ago-just in time for more insults to Sean O et al. You have something to offer, and continue to obfuscate the good that has evolved in you with an arrogance & single-minded approach to these matters. You may be right in what you say - but it remains very difficult to hear the truth of it through the emotionalism and immaturity of your approach. I have grave doubts about David Shens' ability to lead a student to knowledge if your diatribes are an example of character and comportment that he condones, much less wants to represent him. You have my respect as a loyal student , but you lost it long ago as a person. I wish that weren't so. Â I honor all traditions that I incounter around the world. I value them beyond the vapid and silly culture that is my own country's sad legacy. I have done what I can to "raise the bar" for our cultural axpressions- produced plays in Hollywood and art shows in Mexico etc. etc. . I value human beings' amazing abilities to transform their inner creativity into expressions of devinity. There are myriad ways we do this. They are not all superceded by one lineage of teachers. There are just too many things outside of any system to allow for preeminance in these matters. Â Many of us here are trying very hard to be the best people we can be, through many systems and traditions. None of us should devalue the others. Questions and insights and amusement at the expense of another's traditions are uncomfortible and awkward, but also an all too human response to what we are threatened by. We painted his house, schleped what ever was needed by him, we even chipped in and I bought a lions' head in Hong Kong and a huge drum to ship it in - that became the pride of our system the next New Year's celebration, and beyond. again when there is limitless amount of information, human relationships hold far more value...There's something to be said for the pseudo-familial vs cash-based disciplehood - where you can gain information while developing strong human relationships at the same time. I think we all need to get more in touch with our inner warrior. In a non-violent way of course. This God Damn PC world view we are transitioning into is basically the castration of the American male. And it needs to be reversed for the sake of men as well as the health of this country. But that's a whole 'nother topic here that deserves its own thread.  Although perhaps a relevant question here is how to deal with your anger honestly without suppressing it? "John Chang" said your emotions are really important. So, how do we reduce the amount of "negative" emotions we feel? Try to prevent them or vent them out?  Anyhow, I guess I don't really know if you guys think straightening the spine is important or not, but I do at this point so it doesn't really matter either way to me at the moment. It makes this forum much more civilized.  Are you kidding. BACK ON YOUR INGNOR LIST!!! And now you're threatening me with physical violence.  As I said Pat, most of us have let the issues on this thread go, My self included. Is this really how you spend your time; just looking for fights and defending your mothers honor. Are really this shallow and infantile at your age?  What happened to the grand sage who is so above all these youthful follies.  Pat, it's time for me to give you a little life lesson as you are clearly at the end of your perverbial rope. First of all I have never met your mother and I'm sure she was a nice lady; I also did not know you ACTUALLY lived with her, that was joke. Your 52 years old now; it's time to start waking up and deciding how you really want to spent your time. Since you are single and have no family, perhaps you should devote your life to some nobler cause like charity work or habitate for humanity.  I would also suggest some therapy if you are starting to threaten people with physical violence on the internet. A man your age can have a heart attack if they get too worked up. If you can't handle a little humorous ribbing via internet, what are going to do when someone calls you a idiot just for walking down the wrong side of the street in New Jersey?  I would suggest a few weeks of Oprah Winfrey show to calm you down a bit and perhaps asking out that older lady at your favorite book store on a date. Sometimes having a women in your life can help mellow a person out and help them deal with the stresses of life a little effectively. There are some good studies that bear this out. Since it's probably been a whil since you have been in a relationship, maybe you can use some of the PUA resources on this site to build up you confidence a little more. I'm sure there's someone your age in New Jersy you shares you interests in corny poetry and long, long, long speaches about Taoism based on your profound depth of knowledege and subtle wit  Really I don't dislike anyone on the forum here. I don't know any of them personally and I have not been really angry about anything said here. I mean who really cares what someone you don't even know a thousand miles away says about you? Sure now one likes being called names, but that's just part of being online as far as I can tell. No one acts the way people do on this forum in real life.  Get over me and move on Pat.
