chiLLi Posted November 15, 2013 Hello everyone, In Mantak Chia's book, Wisdom Chi Kung, it says that performing a powerful meditation incorrectly can cause brain damage. I recently performed the Twin Hearts meditation With Chakral Healing for Psychological Health by Master Choa Kok Sui. I have been doing this for 2 months, but when I recently performed it, I Smiled while meditating. The energy felt powerful, and my back would arch all the way. When I was done I felt over-energized, and so I released some of the excess energy through my hands. Unfortunately, I think I have damaged my brain because my short term memory seems to not work as well as it did before, and i feel like the inside of my head is 'singed' (the best way I can describe it). Is there anything that can be done to reverse this and restore my memory? I have taken a level 1 Pranic Healing course, and Pranic Psychotherapy. Thank you, chiLLi
Aetherous Posted November 15, 2013 Brahmi is good for memory.Working on memorization is a direct way of helping...like how people study for tests with flashcards, or how religious people memorize verses. It works, and it's important on the spiritual or energetic path to cultivate a really good memory and have a good working mind.See an acupuncturist also...since they say that kidney and spleen functions involve the memory. It could be that your spleen/stomach qi was disturbed by the meditation...but it's impossible to know through a forum. Probably best to not get over-energized with meditations to the point that your back arches...calmness is good.
BaguaKicksAss Posted November 15, 2013 Sounds like you just need a buttload of grounding and qi sinking . Â I recommend an in person teacher to help you straighten stuff out...
chiLLi Posted November 15, 2013 Thank you for responding. Â @Turtle shell: I will look into the Brahmi supplement, but may not be able to take it now, due to taking other medications currently. I am trying to consult with different acupuncturists, so far no one has heard of this happening. Â @Bagua: the Twin Heart meditation has a 10 minute guided grounding exercise, which I have done before and after the meditation. It's been a week, and things, memory-wise, have not improved.. SonOfTheGods Posted November 16, 2013 (edited) my short term memory seems to not work as well as it did before do you remember how well it worked before?  you will be fine, it is only temporary  ground well, and if you are a beginner, sit under a big trunk tree and feel your essence sink into the tree's root system  what you are experiencing are symptoms of brain re-routing of energy Edited November 16, 2013 by SonOfTheGods

Friend Posted November 16, 2013 First meditation cause a change in the general production of brainwaves. The nervous system is because of the unusal activity also overstimulated. It seems to me that is too much to follow the general shedule. Â So you may take a day off and exercise one day. If this not work two days off and one day work to regenerate and build up the resilence. You can still later add the amount of time. Â You can go and drink a warm tea, choclate drink or else for the time your would exercise on the free day and relax, no meditation or something watch the surroundings stuff. Â Hold the tea between your hands to reduce stress and put it on the lower abdomen when you not take a sip, just take care you not put something too hot into the cup. The cup should be so big that you can hold it with two hands. Â In general you have to need to exercise more common sense and being more observant about your body's(buddies ) needs as you let it go so far to feel singe in your brain. Â It is good you are obidient and dilligent doing your energy work, still one has to take care of oneself and asking the methods advanced practioner who had dealed with the same situation or the teacher who is now the head of the school. Also consider other possible source which can cause it. At times, it was something very insignificant, something new. Â Actually if you do Prana Healing, you may have scanned yourself? Â Whenever you use a different conciousness state, then the memory you gained by the activity can mostly only recalled in that state or a similar one. Â This is as I assume is also responsible for the difficulty to recall dreams the more one is awake and the easier while awakening. Actually I can recall this dream memory when I drift away with my mind. Â The alpha state is something which is predominant in children and depending on circumstance beta state, the awakening state should been predominant. Â This is needed to do the daily work abillities like concentration of the mind and memory. Â Because of this Alpha state in young people, intensive meditation may lead one easier to a state of Theta or between into Delta. Â But the problem is the abillity to shift and maintain conciousness between the states. So when falling back from Theta to Beta one has little memory. Â Also one disturb the standard development into Beta. When one has strong Beta one can recall it. Â A thing to consider to see is if one need glasses or if the eyesight has weakend. Stuff can be remembered because something has been seen clear. The less detail one has seen the greater the mind is filling the gaps. Â If there is something has to much gaps, then it is considered unimportant and so deleted. Therefore one has to check if one still has interest in the things one give the awareness. Â Meditation can lead to uninterest to mundane stuff, sex, social activity or talking(beta state), actually things that require beta. Â Take Care.
chiLLi Posted November 23, 2013 @Bagua: You were absolutely right -- I looked up qi sinking, tried the technique that was shown (I had to do it a number of times), and it actually worked! It got the extra energy out of my head, my memory is back to what it was before, and I no longer have that 'singed' feeling. Thank you so much!@SonofTheGods: You're completely right about me needing to sink and ground more. I am now feeling so much better. I would like to try the technique you suggested about sitting under a big trunk tree, that sounds very powerful and helpful. :-) Thank you for reassuring me.@Friend: I thank you for your detailed response, I am, unfortunately, not sensitive to scanning. I love your suggestions for relaxing with the warm tea. and observing the surroundings -- sounds very soothing! I definitely will be more careful next time not to invite too much energy (at the time, I thought i was doing something good). I had actually asked a number of teachers and professionals, and no one was able to provide any help. I am thankful to have been advised correctly here at the forum.I appreciate everyone who responded, your wisdom, kind words and reassurance. I hope you are all doing very well.
