Coaster Posted November 15, 2013 I'd like to see a little stricter guidelines on signatures here. For me, the top priority would be to prohibit Animated GIFs because they are visually annoying. Â Forums usually have strict rules about size and content of signatures. Why? Because they are repeated over and over. Â Example of a thread. Notice that 90% of the thread is signature, because the signature is inline with the thread: Â Â Statement about Tao. Â Signature Line 1 Signature Line 2 Signature Line 3 Signature Line 4 Animated GIF Â --- Â Reply to Statement about Tao. Â --- Â Reply to Reply to Statement about Tao. Â Signature Line 1 Signature Line 2 Signature Line 3 Signature Line 4 Animated GIF Â --- Â Another Reply to Statement about Tao. Â --- Â Reply to Another Reply to Statement about Tao. Â Signature Line 1 Signature Line 2 Signature Line 3 Signature Line 4 Animated GIF Â ===== Â Thanks for considering this request. Â Â

Coaster Posted November 15, 2013 You can opt to hide signatures if you would like... Yes, but that would also hide some of the very positive and helpful sigs as well. Â One of the best quotes I've seen, I found in a sig on this site.

xor Posted November 16, 2013 If you're bothered by animated images in general, another way to do it is to block animated images altogether from your browser.
