Debunking a Creator

What I see are poorly thought out methods for transmitting and teaching among Buddhists.

Unfortunately, the methods of transmission that you always complain of, are from the primordial termas.

Since the rules are divine, noone can change them.

Now the rules are divine? How convenient to defer to other realms where questioning is not permitted.

Where is the suffering? By using the absolute term 'is' you have stated an absolute.

'Suffering' is by degrees. Depends on which realm the mind resides in for the most part. You cannot be so naive as to disregard such a truth as "There is suffering (dukkha)". Its not a bleak view, really. We just have to look closer and be constantly aware of the factors governing birth, sickness, loss, old age and death as an unavoidable reality. If you are ok with this process, then the suffering evaporates. Most people, however, tend to cling tightly to the avoidance of this change process, which is where contraction takes root and rebirth finds a foothold.

If you don't believe that, then these subjects shouldn't concern you in the first place.

Thats simple logic.

I am convinced that Buddhists in general can't handle criticism. Some of their reactions here confirm this.

I am convinced that you should stick with Abrahamic religions. They only require that you have unbending faith in order to be saved.

Of course there is suffering in life. No reasonable person would deny that. However, I think there is far too much emphasis on suffering in the Buddhist ideology.

I always said the rules are divine. You just never listen.

Please stop with the patronizing/condescending attitude. I am in no way interested in religious counseling.

Well, we have an agreement. Thank you.

"Far too much emphasis"? How far is too far? c'mon, Ralis, you can do better than make such a generalized observation -- lacks preciseness.

You might need to say the salvation prayer and / or get baptized.

In your 70+ years, you never progressed your buddhist study beyond the first noble truth?

I am not narrow minded. I am challenging dogma and asking questions.

Until such time that ones who engage in Buddhist discourse stop making absolute untenable evasive statements, then I will stop. What I see are poorly thought out methods for transmitting and teaching among Buddhists. If you can't handle serious questioning of your particular thought processes, then stop posting on this thread.

What are my double standards?

The above posts which are always conveniently directed towards Buddhism.

This thread is in regards to Buddhism as the OP has so aptly stated.

I can count on one hand the number of times you have directed this amount of energy towards criticism of other tenet systems; which is zero times.

Yeah, looks like my prognostication back in post 30-something was not far off. Surprised it took this long to find the ditch, honestly.

You can pit the thread. I don't care.

Can't. It has to run its course...

Good call - it keeps them away from the more enlightened parts of the forum

Let them burn themselves out here
