Marblehead Posted December 31, 2013 Yes, that would be compassion.
Stosh Posted December 31, 2013 (edited) And even more compassionate if the recipient was a human being... but expecting that would just be too unlikely. Why did the artist choose a dog ? because they may be considered to be innocent whereas a person may not be,, which is a judgement of worthiness which the eternal Tao wouldnt impose. Now if they had chosen a chicken ,well then we would have too many other speculations to indulge in like, was he waiting to cross the road ?, and Why? silent thunder Posted December 31, 2013 Well if the dog was this human, I'd step back out into the rain. Pluviophile through and through, no umbrellas for me. (wanders off muttering about free life falling from heaven unregulated....)

Owledge Posted January 6, 2014 Very likely the dog would shake vigorously and spray the water in the fur all over you. Or do you expect mindfulness from a random dog?

But then, true compassion would be able to deal with the consequences.
