BaguaKicksAss Posted February 25, 2014 There's a LOT of threads around here about superpowers, immortality, etc. etc., so there must be some awesome stuff everyone has planned with these superpowers we are all going to gain, right? So what would you do differently than you do now? Have anything planned? Just imagine you woke up on day with JC level powers. Or perhaps say you woke up, noticed that every single thought manifested. What would you do differently?

C T Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) I dont buy all the hype surrounding JC. Remember, i grew up seeing all kinds of outward displays of so-called powers, many of which surpasses what has been shown so far by JC and company. A few of these were made under the proclamation that they were from the Mao Shan lineage, which were the most impressive, like turning fist-sized rocks into steaming-hot pork buns, water into wine, that kind of pure magical displays, to promote their tradition with the main objective of recruiting students. There have been many others, some quite tame, while others, like those who invoke gods and immortals to take up temporary residence in their bodies, are more flamboyant. Check out this video taken during the Nine Emperor Gods Festival, where such invocations occur en masse, which takes place annually in Malaysia: Wiki article on the Nine Emperor Gods Festival: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine_Emperor_Gods_Festival The only reason i am saying this is because of the presumptuous example used in the OP about waking up one day with powers equal to JC. Not everyone here is smitten with him/or enamoured by him, which lets thunder out the bellybutton as a result. Edited February 25, 2014 by C T

Though you may have noticed my other example was just watching every single thing you think about manifest..... Demi-god powers can be had once a year in Malaysia. No big deal. At the end of nine days of fasting and cleansing, people return to their normal selves, with normal routines and stuff. Next year, they get to play god all over again, for nine days. This is a common theme both in the East and West, albeit dressed in different costumes. Edited February 25, 2014 by C T
Aetherous Posted February 25, 2014 Lets say I suddenly had the power to manifest anything that I desired, such as money, and translocate wherever I wanted safely, etc...I'd probably have a blast. I'd be going on vacations and buying cool things all the time. I'd probably still be up to the same stuff as usual, have the same aspirations in life...but it'd be without the usual limitations such as money, food, shelter, transportation, etc problems. More importantly, I'd be much more able to help people with these types of powers. Everyone ultimately gains meaning in life from being of service...it feels good. It's hard to be of service when you're kept on your knees. I doubt I'd show this stuff off to a single person; burning at the stake, and all of that.
thelerner Posted February 25, 2014 The interesting thing is.. we kinda do have super powers already. No telepathy but I can talk people instantly a thousand miles away, no super speed, but I have a car and can get on a plane. I can't move faster then a speeding bullet, but I can fire enough to stop most things that are moving. What would we want to accomplish and what would we need such super powers to accomplish? The reality of the world is you push, things push back. Try to accomplish something exceptionally good and you may wind up creating a monster. Try to punish a criminal and you may well be giving brain damage to some poor womans disadvantaged son. Huge wealth, immortality may well be nasty traps. To rule is not so sweet. Technology has already given us incredible super powers and we use it to distract ourselves and for pointless entertainment. We could become ultra powerful and all we'd do as masturbate all day. Better to seek .. something else. Super powers or a few months alone with a good books, a journal, food and provisions. Maybe the quiet cell is better.
BaguaKicksAss Posted February 25, 2014 First I'd check to see if it was allowable, then if so I'd heal the cancer of a few folks I know or know about (sometimes it isn't meant to be is why I would check first). Then I'd heal myself. Then I'd go practice Bagua .
Aeran Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) Recruit a few interested, open minded scientists and work on putting together a more exact understanding of the metaphysical/energetic aspect of existence. Keep practicing for the purpose of spiritual evolution, throw in as much healing/teaching as possible on the side. Uroboros Posted February 25, 2014 I would see what the forces at play are and what tendencies are going to be in the future. Then, I would see what is the truth of this planet. Then the universe, if I could at the moment. After cultivating a certain level of wisdom and sensitivity to the nature of events and life on this planet, I would decide what form of action I will take and what event it would create, if any. I would love to build a kingdom that is truly prosperous for all who reside, with little corruption and maximum freedom. Is that truly beneficial? I do not know. Such a thing may not be for the good of the human race. Then, If none of my large desires of creation and change were proper, I would watch the world go by. I would watch as humanity grew and destroyed it self, how it ventured out to the stars, how it fell from them, watch as ages go by and by...as the world grew older and older, as the landscape that is turned to dust and what once was becomes nothing but legend, then whisper...then silence. I would venture into space and see what is, as galaxies opened and crashed and devoured. As worlds collided and burst into fiery spams. That is probably along the lines of what I would do.

Captain Mar-Vell Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) ... F**ked if I know. Actually, I'd get to work on Plan 11 from Outer Space. Phase one, transmit message of love, peace and understanding. Of course, first I would ask the higher powers what I should do. They might advise patience. There have been many others, some quite tame, while others, like those who invoke gods and immortals to take up temporary residence in their bodies, are more flamboyant. That was interesting. ... yabyum24 Posted February 25, 2014 Take up residence in a massive, artificial hollowed out volcano, recruit a vast army of obedient drones and acquire a white cat to stroke, in preparation for taking over the world. And relish that moment as a certain suited Englishman falls prisoner. "Ah Mieeester Bond! A pleasure to meet you at last - shame you must now die!" Only John Chang or Obi Wan could stop me.

liminal_luke Posted February 25, 2014 If I had superpowers I'd manifest a lot of money and go vacation with my partner in Puerto Vallarta. Then again, I suspect all the spiritual work and virtue involved in gaining said powers might change my priorities a bit. Liminal
ShinRa Posted February 25, 2014 How about using one's Jedi-mind-influence powers to become a powerful politician and make government leaders actually do their jobs and stop destroying our rights and freedoms, stop the wars and definitely stop the suppression of human capabilities...
Captain Mar-Vell Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) ... How about using one's Jedi-mind-influence powers to become a powerful politician... You know, I've never seriously considered that. But it does give me an opportunity ta post dis! I have that issue. I also have a rare annual with an incidental short story about Peter St John alias Mandala (above). I'm still waiting for the Zenith reprints. When I was sporting a 'tash like the above, my wife would tell me I looked like a cheesy '70's porn star. She was always such a flatterer. I was going more for the look above. Maybe one of my past lives was trying to make me look more like him. I think I'd been watching Easy Rider maybe, too. I might go back to it. Rambling alert! C T Posted February 25, 2014 That's pretty neat . Perhaps I should talk with the Deities I work with about something like this.... There must be a LOT of healings during that time!!!!! Probably not to many sick people in Malaysia? The reason i posted that was to open bums' eyes so that we can hopefully reduce being too overWOWed by displays of supernormal feats. Such demos are an everyday affair in Malaysia, and a few other Asian countries. People there practice all sorts of weird and wonderful paths, and devote their piety to many gods and deities, mostly to seek help for prosperity (top priority), good health (no. 2 on the list) and healing (no. 3 on same list). Some would engage with left-handed practices, doing crazy things which really rebound on them in very negative measures. Sure, they get results like financial gains via lottery wins and so on, but boy o boy, does that come with a hefty price. But these are the heavy dabblers, the greedy ones who are willing to give up their souls if they have to. Thankfully, such are not common occurrences. When i was young and curious, my friends and i would occassionally visit mystics to ask for lottery numbers, and they do sometimes oblige. Should we win, we would have to go back and make offerings to the gods, and to the mediator/mystic, for his kind assistance, usually a percentage of the winnings goes into his pocket. They have some clairvoyant powers, but thats about it. I remember one time we went for a session, and this mystic went into trance, and asked one of the lads if there was a small yellow van that is always parked near his house. He said to use the combinations of the license plate numbers for our lottery punt, and sure enough, we won quite a bit of money that same evening. Things like these are common over there. I think if we show JC's videos to folks there, they'd probably have a chuckle over it, without so much as batting an eyelid even.

JC was just my example, as many members of the forum seem to quite like him . (personally I'm more impressed with his teacher and his teacher's teacher.... if they actually exist as written; I'm always quite skeptical). Pretty neat that they can make stuff happen over there. It makes me wonder why folks here generally can't? Are there less dabblers and more people who practice a good deal of time everyday over there or something? Money seems like #1 when you are low on food or worried about rent... but really health and healing is far far more important. Though folks in their 20's likely wouldn't know this yet .
