MooNiNite Posted April 30, 2014 "White clouds assemble at the peak, sweet dew bathes the polar mountain, Having drunk the wine of long life, you wander free, who can know you?" -Ancestor Lu What does "White clouds assemble at the peak mean? what about sweet dew bathes the polar mountain?
MooNiNite Posted April 30, 2014 my guess, it is referring to the spinning of the seventh chakra, and energy being recycled and flowing down the face
GrandmasterP Posted April 30, 2014 (edited) Clambering up the Cold Mountain path, The Cold Mountain trail goes on and on: The long gorge choked with scree and boulders, The wide creek, the mist-blurred grass. The moss is slippery, though there's been no rain. The pine sings, but there's no wind. Who can leap the world's ties And sit with me among the white clouds. (Han-shan Cold Mountain Poems). Cultivation ( never easy) as a route to enlightenment maybe? Edited April 30, 2014 by GrandmasterP
Andrei Posted April 30, 2014 Nope, it refers to shen gathering in the upper dantian and the flow of sweet elixir that is pouring from the pituitary gland through the roof of the mouth. This is the "wine of long life"
soaring crane Posted April 30, 2014 (edited) it is referring to the spinning of the seventh chakra, and energy being recycled and flowing down the face Hi MooNiNite - If it's chakra, it isn't Daoist, and vice-versa. Andrei's reply is very clear and fitting :-) Edited April 30, 2014 by soaring crane
Andrei Posted April 30, 2014 Ancestor Lu is Lu Dongbin founder of alchemical taoism, many texts refer to him as ancestor Lu or master Lu, he is one of the 8 immortals of taoism: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%C3%BC_Dongbin

There is a stage where energy pours down the face, "fountain of youth", im thinking that sweet dew "bathes" the polar mountain to be separate from..."having drunk the wine of long life" which is ketchari mudra or what Andrei says. of course he called it "sweet" but he also uses the word "bathe". where as the elixir Andrei speaks of is more of a dripping. soaring crane Posted May 3, 2014 wine of long life= saliva mixed with energy in the mouth and then swallowed Yes, but not just any saliva. That's what Andrei was pointing out.
GrandmasterP Posted May 3, 2014 (edited) Then how come the Chinese are such notorious spitters in public? We were quite shocked by that when we visited. Even the best hotels have spittoons in the public areas. Uggghhhhhh! Edited May 3, 2014 by GrandmasterP
SecretGrotto Posted May 3, 2014 Don't want to hijack this thread, but I would also love a similar elucidation, on the Taoist interpretation of Lu Tong's poem, if anyone can solve it: Lu Tong's Seven Bowls of Tea 七碗诗 卢仝(唐. 790~835) The first bowl moistens my lips and throat; 一碗喉吻潤, The second bowl breaks my loneliness; 二碗破孤悶, The third bowl searches my barren entrails but to find 三碗搜枯腸, Therein some five thousand scrolls; 惟有文字五千卷, The fourth bowl raises a slight perspiration 四碗發輕汗, And all life's inequities pass out through my pores; 平生不平事盡向毛孔散, The fifth bowl purifies my flesh and bones; 五碗肌骨清, The sixth bowl calls me to the immortals. 六碗通仙靈, The seventh bowl could not be drunk, 七碗吃不得也, only the breath of the cool wind raises in my sleeves. 唯覺兩腋習習清風生。 Where is Penglai Island, Yuchuanzi wishes to ride on this sweet breeze and go back. 蓬萊山﹐在何處,玉川子乘此清風欲歸去。

Marblehead Posted May 3, 2014 That wasn't tea, it was rice wine and he passed out after drinking the sixth bowl.
GrandmasterP Posted May 3, 2014 (edited) His prostate must have been pretty sound too. Six bowls of tea here and I'd be up and down like an elevator. Edited May 3, 2014 by GrandmasterP

manitou Posted May 4, 2014 wine of long life= saliva mixed with energy in the mouth and then swallowed Sounds like Amrita (I think that's what it's called) that comes down the back of the throat - incredibly sweet syrup-type thing that happened to me once during meditation.
