This guy sounds enlightened to me.

So I have been working on compassion lately. I have also been working on my anger lately. I have also been working on even love and compassion for assholes lately.....

However I was sitting on the bus the other day and picked up a local newspaper someone had left behind. I found a story on how a child pornography ring had just been busted and several children were rescued. They had used infants and toddlers in pornography which went well beyond softcore even.

Yep, all my training went out the window for a bit.

Then I just focused on internal balance for myself.

Perhaps in my next lifetime I can work on compassion or loving for people like this.

I didn't go home and curse them all at least...

It's a funny thing with emotional distance. Not easy to tell whether someone lacks empathy or doesn't actively let things into their heart or whether they're just very spiritually evolved.

Personally, if I had read a story like that, I'd have thought: They were rescued. That's good news. Too bad that the perpetrators are probably in way too deep to be able to be rescued.

I think the only reason I was able to feel compassion for these people (when I worked the child molesting detail) was because i did it for quite a few years. No, I don't think anybody can feel compassion while they're in a state of 'shock to their conscience', such as you were when you read the newspaper article. But after being exposed to it over and over, there comes - to everybody that works it - a sort of numbness to the conscience that allow you to sit there and interrogate or interview the molester - mainly because you're trying to make a case to submit to the District Atty, for example. But still......even way before I became a spiritual entity ..... the compassion arose because I saw the similarities between the backgrounds of the perpetrators, and I saw the pattern. It was only after I saw the pattern of their own abuse that compassion became possible for me.

But there are some people that can't work Details like that at all - particularly men! Very few men were willing to work sex crimes because they just wanted to jump up and beat the shit out of the perps. it was the ones that had the capacity to detach that were willing to come on board.

And now - throwing in any degree of enlightenment I may possess - I realize that the molester is 'just the other half of me' - as we are all One. There but by the grace of God go I, sort of thing. I was a pathetic drunk for quite a while until I was hammered to a bloody pulp into submission. These men have the capacity to do the same - there are plenty of recovery groups for sex-aholics as well - they especially need intense inner cleaning out, and I assume their method of dealing with it is the same as for the alkie - just don't take the first drink. In his case, it would be....just don't allow the first fantasy to enter the mind; to stop it in its tracks. Don't buy the first kiddie porno magazine...etc, etc. They need daily meetings until such time as they've done the step work and found their initial demons in this regard.

Has anyone noticed how strange it is, trying to post behind owledge with that damn pink pony jumping up and down, lol???

You know, I'll bet the fact that you were neutral and treated them human beings, really made a difference, even if a small one. Many people feel as though they have never been treated as an equal to others, ever. I mean folks who hadn't even done anything of that sort.

Also, I've noticed that all the folks I worked with who did terrible things to others, all had even worse done to them :(. There also seems to be an energy that follows from person to person, from abuser to victim, it is odd, and hard to describe, but, definitely there, to someone who can see.

I still like this way of going about things though :)http://thetaobums.com/topic/32421-songs-and-honoring/ . Imagine if every culture started this when folks were young...

Love and fear both multiply when shared. Whatever you live, that you radiate.

Let me share a quick experience I had. When I lived up in Big Bear, California, I came home one evening and walked in on a man burglarizing my house. I found him hiding back in my laundry room, hiding behind my dryer. He had brought 2 dogs with him to 'amuse' my 3 dogs while he was ripping me off; he'd been staked out on me for a while, apparently.

I approached this guy and started hollering at him, and grabbed him and made him empty his pockets out onto the bed of the bedroom we were standing in. He had all my jewelry in his pockets. But the last thing he did was pull a frozen burrito (from my freezer) onto the bed.

Something happened when I saw that frozen burrito land on the bed. My heart lost its fear, and it melted. I asked him if he was hungry; he said he was. I asked him if I could cook the burrito for him. He asked me if I would join him.

So I did. I grabbed another frozen burrito and cooked them both in the nuker. Then we sat down in the front room and ate our burritos. I told him that I would make an agreement with him.....that I wouldn't call the cops if he would listen to me talk for a while.

He told me he was a heroin addict . I told him about Narcotics Anonymous, that he didn't have to live like that any more and hurt people. I told him I would be willing to pick him up and take him to a meeting (he didn't take me up on that, lol) But the reason I did this was because I figured that he has probably gone to jail a dozen times with no effect on his behavior. But maybe, just maybe, I planted a seed in his soul that will sprout one day. And my guess is that he'll never forget that encounter with the nice lady that fed him and gave him a break.

And that wasn't me doing that. It came out of my soul. After he left, my knees buckled from fear and I landed on the floor. Hopefully, as Owledge said, Love and Fear both multiply when shared.

Seeds are so very important :).

Wow, just wow Manitou.

What is also important though is fertile soil.

Some seeds are planted, but are taken by mold if they don't germinate swiftly.

When opportunities to plant powerful seeds are rare, it is wise to honor them by giving them proper care. When fear is abundant in a person, memories of love can fade away.

Yes, fertile soil is important. But when it comes to substance abuse, this is the only thing that those of us who have recovered can do for the one still suffering with the disease. Just plant the seed, that's all. Leave the results up to Whatever. There may come a point in time when it's appropriate for him to think back on my words. All in all, it was a very unusual encounter.

So the guy was a heroin addict, huh?

Tell him: "No risk, no ibogaine". :D

Yep, ya gotta be bald to gain enlightenment.

That's the law.

:)

I wanted to say that despair works, too, but I guess when faced with despair, fighting to keep going could actually mean weakness in the face of fears, while giving up (= surrender, which can lead to enlightenment) could be considered courageous, because that way one overcomes fear (=worldly attachment).

For those who don't see it, Owledge has a gif in his signature featuring a "My LIttle Ponies" pony that jumps into view and then disappears, repeatedly. I know you can turn off javascript in the browser, but I"m not aware of any browsers that block gifs (but I'd love to learn why some here don't see Owledge's signature in action).

I read the transcript, rather than watch the video, so I may have missed some things. Does sound a lot like a natural DMT experience, from descriptions I've heard, and very profound indeed. Connected with the breath, in some mysterious way.

" Every day is further opportunity to align one's self with the I Am and act accordingly..."-- Manitou makes it sound so straight forward, and yet unless the alignment acts with no intention there is no grace, I understand it to be this way and I hear it in what she says although the saying of it mostly confuses people.

I hardly even know where I am, most of the time, much less that I'm breathing. What does this guy think he can offer me?

I'm relieved. I thought folks on this thread were ganging up to jerk me around :D

What a beautiful thought, Mark Foote - "unless the alignment acts with no intention there is no grace." How could it possibly be said better than this?

The alignment is in the aligning of our own selves with the Dynamics That Be, those dynamics that we've come to understand through readings, meditations, and bouncing off each other for a long time. No, there is no intention in the act - it is more of a merger. I find it akin to slipping into yin energy consciously - being receptive and open to all.

In order to do this, IMO - we have to have mastered our egos. Otherwise the first yang motion that comes along will cause you to meet it with equal yang strength. To let the motion just float by - and choosing to not interact - is a function of transcension or some degree of mastery over the ego.

Well...

I don't see it on my smartphone but I kinda lied about not seeing it in general.

Actually, reminds me of a pernicious resource-sucking little download from the late '90s that let little sheep prance about on your screen and eat flowers.

OK, maybe "pernicious" is a bit strong. They were very cute and not totally evil at all.
