Hello, everybody

Recommended Posts

Hi Everybody,

I'm a professor at Utah State University and am teaching the Daodejing right now. Today, at the end of class, a student asked, "Why does the Dao say you should be free from desire, when desire seems the most natural thing for humans and all animals." As Aristotle said, "A man is his desire."

Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Thanks1
