woodcarver Posted September 27, 2014 It's like everything about it is created to captivate a certain part of you. Perfect, brightly colored people in a fantasy world tackle subjects that anime viewers understand. Â This stuff gets in your head!
katsura Posted September 27, 2014 Anime wasn't always so saccharine and infantile. It's depressing to see the state of it now.
woodcarver Posted September 27, 2014 (edited) I'm not very old but I've seen some older anime so I can see what you mean. Edited September 27, 2014 by woodcarver
Bearded Dragon Posted September 27, 2014 The gore in stuff like ninja scroll was good. A lot of the time it seems they might put it in the manga but tone it down in the anime. You still get it though. Just not that much.

katsura Posted September 28, 2014 (edited) I'm a huge fan of Shigurui, the manga even more so than the anime. The anime is a fine introduction, but the manga is a really exquisite artistic achievement. The author (Yamaguchi Takayuki) clearly has a sophisticated grasp of the martial arts and also a very intuitive understanding of the interplay of the subjective mind with reality. It's a deeply psychological work. Â Though I will add that the anime has a brilliant atmospheric soundtrack. Edited September 28, 2014 by katsura
