VeeCee Posted September 13, 2007 I have a tv set. It's a little 13" that my daughter uses to play video games and watch movies. I gave up watching tv programs on a regular basis about 7 years ago.
lino Posted September 13, 2007 Don't watch TV...not enough skin > , except for turning on the cartoon channel every six to eight months, and watching pay per view boxing or MMA. In the last few months, I tried playing the Streetfighter Collection Edition on a PS2, it kind of left me in a state of euphoria but was way too taxing on the nerves. Much better than playing Mortal Kombat, umpteen years ago, I used to scream and curse at the game so bad that I would develop red spots all over my neck

Yoda Posted September 13, 2007 We own a tv but it only gets used to watch nature documentaries on dvd which varies from nil to a couple hours a day, but we try to keep it below an hour a day. Then again, I'm on the computer an awful lot, so I don't know what the net benefit is.
lino Posted September 13, 2007 I no longer play video games but the Soul Caliber series was a gosh darn good time. I liked that one too, I like most of the fighting games. I heard a friend talking before, he said that if he ever marries into an already made family, the kid better be a teenager like that he can play with kid's electronic toys (nintendo, PSX,...) I had another friend that was invincible at Super Mario Kart, while drunk. The guy couldn't even keep his balance swaying back and forth (and falling down) , he still managed to keep the kart on the road at top speed ...I'm wondering how he still had beer googles when he went out to the club and got drunk

lino Posted September 13, 2007 For some reason when I first read already made family I thought you were talking about the Mafia So are you coming to LA? Also...who are you? Friend of Max and Plato or another Taoist NYC dude? Another Taoist NYC dude. Have taken some advice from Plato...kind of reminds me, I haven't checked his blog in a while. Kind of indirectly connected to Sifu Max, via Sifu Philip Toledo For some reason when I first read already made family I thought you were talking about the Mafia So are you coming to LA? Also...who are you? Friend of Max and Plato or another Taoist NYC dude? I'll have to pass up on LA. It's not smooshed enough together like NYC. Don't like airplanes or having to deal with the hassle of getting on one either.

lino Posted September 13, 2007 Cool...was just reading your blog here(I guess you stopped posting in it few months ago). Sounds like you have been going through alot of interesting stuff! Best! Interesting is right. I had to give up the MCO because it was causing too much pressure. I'll pick it back up after I do a gallbladder/liver flush this weekend, I started on the granny smith apples already. Think it might be preventing jing from converting to chi. Don't know what I'll do on the heart pressure though. After a while (a month or so) from doing the MCO, I have a resting heart rate of over 100 bpm...a large difference from the 55-60 bpm resting heart rate. Quiet sitting has been a lot more advantageous than I could ever hope for. The five gates (actually three gates, since I breathe out through the feet rather than the hands) breathing I haven't given up. I don't think that my body is clean enough to do some of the other stuff I want to do, like the muscle-tendon changing or the bone marrow energy packing. I think there's another thread regarding that issue (see porn and neural pathways). I saw it when it first started, I lost interest in the first few postings...it got significantly better What they said was true, Trunk-style porn (integrating and balancing the three centers) does make for some blockbuster stuff
beancurdturtle Posted September 13, 2007 I don't own a TV. Haven't for years. The only show that interests me when I'm around other people's TVs is Iron Chef.

mYTHmAKER Posted September 13, 2007 I watch tv 3 nights a week. We have a Time Warner box where we can tape two shows at a time or tape one and watch one. We fly thru the commercials. An hour show is only about 45 minutes or less. A 30 minute show maybe 20 minutes. Also can stop the show and pee or get something to eat. Right now am hooked on the Sopranos. I love to iaugh. South Park is funny and profound. The artwork is first class. English comedy is great - only problem is I can't understand them They should have subtitles. A good mystery is also fun. So You Think You Can Dance was pretty good. Travel shows are also a favorite. There are a few martial art shows where they travel and train in different modalities. Gangaji airs tapes of here talks and workshops - she is right on.
Ian Posted September 14, 2007 We've been without a TV since July 1st and are really appreciating it. We used to watch Doctor Who once a week and all kinds of random rubbish. When Dr Who restarts we may go and see it at a friend's house, if Catherine Tate doesn't put us off. Or not. But generally, life is so much better without it. I used to tell myself similar things about documentaries and comedy and so on. But, honestly, we meet the natural world far more meaningfully on the allotment, and laugh better when it comes from our own talk. And now we do things. It may be different for you, of course. One size doesn't fit all. But if you haven't tried life without it, then I do suggest you give it a go.

freeform Posted September 14, 2007 I see what you mean Ian - I grew up without a TV and am very happy about that... And I have Hampstead Heath very near me so I get a bit of nature every day... but humanity has always had story-telling and TV is pretty good for that... Cat - yes that ritual was great! I liked the progression from banishing the negative to introducing the positive - and it really worked! Those hard drive recorder boxes are great - I've recently got one and really like it. doc benway Posted September 14, 2007 (edited) I don't own a TV. Haven't for years. The only show that interests me when I'm around other people's TVs is Iron Chef. I liked the original Iron Chef show. Chef Morimoto has a killer restaurant in Philadelphia. My son was a huge fan of his and we went there for his birthday and he got a photo with the chef... It was fantastic. I caught the American version once and didn't like it. The only show I watch regularly on TV is Top Chef - it's a stupid, melodramatic, cooking competition but, for some reason, I dig it! Other than that I do like to watch movies from time to time and I normally watch them at home on DVD rather than pay the ridiculous prices to sit in a movie theater listening to cellphone ringtones... My son was over a few nights ago and we watched Curb Your Enthusiasm - his favorite show - it was really funny. My kids like to watch the Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, the History Channel, and my son likes the mixed martial arts shows on Spike. VeeCee Posted September 14, 2007 That would be a different poll or poll, though, I guess. I'd be interested to know what books and music taobums are into. You're right, that would be fun to know. Right now I'm reading Wayne Dyer's take on the TTC (Change Your Thoughts - Change Your Life). Not listening to a lot of music lately. Just enjoying the sounds of silence. joeblast Posted September 18, 2007 no tv in my house I watch DVDs on my computer, but I mostly read. I do like watching football, hockey, or other nature related shows when I'm at other people's houses.
Bum Grasshopper Posted September 18, 2007 "Right now I'm reading Wayne Dyer's take on the TTC" If it were not for TV, I would have not seen Wayne Dyer's seminar on PBS, which has started me down the Tao path. VC- what is your opinion so far on the book?
