What do you do on a cloudy day? What is best?

Recommended Posts

To this day I have yet to understand what we're supposed to do on cloudy days. What does the Tao ask for?

Sunny days, you go outside and play. Soak in the sun. Tao is felt.
Rainy days, you stay inside and read. Rain against the windows. Tao is felt.

Yet on days neither sunny, neither rainy but a dreary grey, what do you do?

Same as always.

If it isn't pouring with rain then we go out as per usual.

Twice a day, every day walking three cocker spaniels on the beach.

When it is raining hard we just let them out in the garden.

I much prefer to be outside on cloudy days to sunny.

I'm very fair skinned, the sun causes me discomfort.

Rainy days are the best. Just have the right gear and there's no reason to feel trapped inside.

But then, I don't often wear the gear... I'm naturally watertight this lifetime.

I've never understood the innate dislike some folks have of life falling from heaven, free and unregulated.

Taoist cloud magic goes into heavenly and earthly

The heaven cloud cultivation

And

The earth cloud cultivation (mourning fog)

Calling the powers of heaven and earth into the body.

Clouds have mystical properties.

Took a shower in the rain the last time it fell heavily. Wonderful feeling.

If you really hate it, though, can't argue with reading ^_^

As far as clouds... meet up with some friends, have a drink and a chat..?

Would you care to expound further?

Umm ok sure.

It has to be done at 3am for this is when the morning mist is strongest. The feet have to touch the earth to ground you and so the mist energy comes up thru the body.

Its done facing east because it correlates to thunder and the direction for that is east.

Cloud cultivation is both martial and healing.

Clouds can carry powerful ionic charges and are also healing and very restorative.

Hope this helps.

Overcast days, it's good to practice. Here's an idea: warm your internal water with lower dantian breathing, so the external water evaporates as well...often times, the sun comes out soon after.

.

Millions long for immortality who do not know what to do with themselves on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

One could also chop wood and carry water.

yep .... I recommend it (in a place where one can get sunburn in winter ;) )

Hot sunny days in summer at noon, thats when I do inside stuff. Pouring rain? Best time to go out and do some internal road and drainage work (you can actually see what the potential problems are and how and where the water wants to go).

'Tao' is applied differently 'down' here :)

:) for cloudy days in autumn or winter, i prefer the original artist, Joni Mitchell,

simply because she even titled her 1969 album 'Clouds'.

Judy Collins' or Neil Diamond's cover.. hmm... summer, maybe. And cloudy days

in spring, well, Mary Hopkins' version would do nicely, thank you.

The first thing that comes to mind, "Why don't you ask yourself, "what would I like to do?"" ^_^

Best --

My nose blocks up and gets stuffy. I sit in a lethargic restless state. Sometimes it clears out. It's especially great when the Sushumna nadi activates. Then I feel like I am doing something. As it stands, I have literally nothing to do on a cloudy day. Dusting the furniture, cleaning things, I guess. Perhaps it's "clean & organize" day. Laundry time. That kinda thing.

I just want to know what goes with the flow.

According to daoism, what is one supposed to do on a sunny day? Whatever comes naturally.
