Working with Destiny

Interesting thoughts, but I would think that the more special the individual, the more "difficult" it might be to find the matching circumstances, astrologically and otherwise.

Talking about the Dalai Lama, I am not convinced that this is literally always the same soul reincarnating. (But I respect people's beliefs.) This seems to become a non-issue in the future anyway, as the current Dalai Lama intends to end this tradition.

I chose to use extreme over special, because I feel those who are more highly evolved are also more refined, centered, balanced, whole. I speculate these qualities allow for a greater array of circumstances in which to call home. Conversely, I feel those who go against balance tend to come back with planets on their south node, difficult aspects, etc, which may require matching up to similar extreme imbalances perhaps not so easily found. But just my speculation.

I believe that we spend the time between physical incarnations in non-physical realms that are connected with the planets and stars. This is an ancient view going back to the Mithraic and Hermetic mysteries, which is reflected however in the outlooks of modern mystics like Rudolf Steiner and Edgar Cayce.

Thanks. I've never felt a clear answer for where one ends up. I sense there are conceptual "boundaries" depending on how refined one has become, but imagine these boundaries may exist in many manifestations. Non-physical realms that are connected with the cosmos seems a pretty broad description, but I like broad descriptions; they tend to stand the test of time.

I enjoyed reading and agree with all of your other comments too!

This idea was originally conceived within a Geocentric model of the world. But I think it can still serve as an (at least partial) explanation for Astrology, with some modifications.

The ancient assumption was that an individual's soul core descends from the realm of the fixed stars through the planetary spheres from Saturn to the Moon, thereby acquiring an astroeides ochema or astral vehicle. In each sphere, the soul assimilates a specific kind of ether, thereby dressing itself in layer upon layer of astral matter. (It's easy to see the connection with the concept of the astral body and subtle bodies in general, respectively.) At the same time, the soul is imbued with corresponding "virtues" and "vices", in the terminology of the ancients. It eventually reaches Earth and incarnates in a physical body.

After an incarnation has ended, the soul returns to the stellar realm, shedding the layers of subtle matter one by one while it again passes through the planetary spheres.

This idea was first described by Macrobius in his Commentary on the Dream of Scipio.
