Marblehead Posted May 22, 2015 Maybe everyone is simultaneously walking the walk and not walking the walk. Thoughts? I'm not walking. I'm sitting on my butt in front of the computer. And perhaps the Way (Dao) is both sacred and not sacred. But it is dynamic. Constantly changing. As are all things of Dao. Sacred one moment in time and then not so sacred the next.
Stosh Posted May 22, 2015 Responsibility has a way of doing that. Do you think he will ever recover normal functioning?

Apech Posted May 22, 2015 I think LZ might have said 'the sacred only exists because of profanity' or some such.
Marblehead Posted May 23, 2015 Responsibility has a way of doing that. Do you think he will ever recover normal functioning? Hehehe. I have noticed that he has been trying. But make it all the way back? I have no answer.
Marblehead Posted May 23, 2015 I think LZ might have said 'the sacred only exists because of profanity' or some such. Yeah, I think that's all about duality or some similar concept.

idiot_stimpy Posted May 23, 2015 I think LZ might have said 'the sacred only exists because of profanity' or some such. Well for the sacred to exist, there must exist its opposite. Caught in duality, wandering forever more.
silent thunder Posted May 23, 2015 I'm coming to have this sense, somewhere, that there are indeed no opposite things, merely expressions of vibration in varying extremes and called separate because of our perspective.
doc benway Posted May 28, 2015 I haven't read all 6 pages so I apologize if this is redundant. In a way, nothing is inherently sacred. Sanctity exists within us and our attitude and approach to people and things around us. We impute sanctity, if we are so inclined. If that approach helps support our growth and practice, then it is valuable. If that approach is an obstacle, then it should be abandoned - unless, of course we are ready to see that obstacle for what it is, an opportunity for growth.
