vonkrankenhaus Posted May 24, 2015 I am here on TDB for a few months now, and I am reading many, many arguments in various thread that contain something like: "You got no results" So I am wondering - what are the actual results people are experiencing and achieving from their own learning and training practice? From the vehemence of the arguments and statements here, these must be quite substantial, and it seems that everyone would benefit from reading what kinds of results various people have, and, perhaps, even how and why they are reaching them. -VonKrankenhaus
lifeforce Posted May 24, 2015 Resistance to most, if not all, infections. A strong, flexible body. Appreciation of all life. Sound, clear mind. Deep, long and full breathing. Looking at least a decade younger than I actually am. Excellent sense faculties, especially smell. Psychic abilities. Not being afraid anymore of physical death. The ability to fully understand previously difficult spiritual texts.
silent thunder Posted May 24, 2015 I inevitably value any potential teaching or practice on only one basic criteria. How does it affect my life in a practical, useful daily, moment to moment basis? That said, by far the most influential and beneficial result of my process is not something I have gained but what I've lost. First, I lost years of chronic physical pain. then, I released decades of emotional pain. recently and by far, most influentially... I lost my desire to punish, or lash out. All of these losses contribute to conditions which cause me to radiate gratitude, which reinforces responses and daily habits that in turn reinforce those conditions. It's become a self feeding loop that is hard to describe. My teacher just shrugs and calls it 'inertia'. In the last year, I've relaxed quite a bit on my prior tendency to get all fundamentalist about daily regimes, or any externals really, yet they are still a regular expression and contribution to my inertia (practice). Any longer, it's about awareness and self checks all throughout the day, to imbue authenticity. In motion, word, action, non-action. Authentic is perhaps the only thing I'm still trying to achieve or gain. Part of me hopes I'll not find it soon, as I'm having such a lovely game seeking without seeking...

SaiyaMan Posted May 25, 2015 (edited) My results have been this: -Haven't been ill (not even the common cold) for a few years. -Seeing energy -The LDT and MDT visibly pulsating (my partner could see and touch them as they pulse on the surface of the skin) -Laogong points go red after good sessions -Visions when i wake up in the night after practicing -Extremely powerful "lucid dreams" (i prefer to call it 'jumping') - Ability to heal, (non-placebo, participants were complete skeptics) - 'seeing' health issues in people -communicating with "higher selves" -Being the "higher self" Will add any others I might've left out Edited May 26, 2015 by SaiyaMan
vonkrankenhaus Posted May 25, 2015 I appreciate everyone's responses and sincerity, and I am happy to see so many good things happening with people. And I look forward to (hope for) many more responses. I think this would be interesting to anyone, and would be a good opportunity for anyone to detail, or even promote, their particular training methods, school, style, and results. -VonKrankenhaus

Gerard Posted May 25, 2015 How about becoming less selfish and a better person in general? Give more take NOTHING. Achievements mean nothing without helping the community and the world at large.
Enishi Posted May 25, 2015 Increased awareness, both of "external" reality and of parts of my own inner psyche I did not formerly understand. Resistance to physical illness, and faster processing of emotions. Less wandering thoughts. Better communication with others. Improved healing skill. Perception of spirits and the thoughts/qi of others (though this one tends to vary quite a bit).

sillybearhappyhoneyeater Posted May 26, 2015 I'm less of a dipshit than I used to be, but that could just be age creeping up on me. My teacher told me the most beautiful story: when he was in his early thirties, he experienced a serious tragedy and began to look inward and withdraw. He had studied previously with Cao Zhenyang at white cloud temple and had done a great deal of research about Nei Dan. When he encountered a major loss in his life, he decided to follow through with his childhood dream of becoming a sage. For several years he practiced assiduously, gave free medicinal help to people in need, and lived like an urban hermit. He told me that eventually he realized that his personality was prone to judgement and that he was probably not going to become a saint, but that during his training he had managed to change some important aspects of his personality. He had gone from being an extreme introvert to being able to socialize freely with others, and he had gained a sense of common feeling for other people, which I personally believe was the beginning of compassion. He said even though he never became a saint, his big hope was that he could at least become a good person. Now he shares his learning with many people and helps people in many different areas of life. He is my hero and I very much look up to him (incidentally, his heroes are Nelson Mandela and Ghandi). I think that is one of the better results that I've heard of people acquiring through Daoist practice
dawei Posted May 26, 2015 I was telling another member here, who I will bow to, my recent experience and was told in confirmation in reply: ... a brilliant blue light, the size of a tiny seed, that appears to the meditator whose energy has been awakened. The Blue Pearl is the subtle abode of the inner Self.- Swami Muktananda, Does Death Really Exist?, p. 36 This is only a small nugget... visiting other dimensions and being visited by other beings seems more telling. We're not alone
Songtsan Posted May 26, 2015 Remember when I used to have 'Servant of the Blue Pearl' written above my avatar? Well, not only have I seen the blue pearl during meditations, I saw them in the sky with a friend at White Sands, NM...the Blue Pearls are aliens! We are being sheparded by beings of light from other dimensions or space time realities....I've met others who have seen them too....a friend of mine saw dozens of them spinning in the sky, along with hundreds of people, along a highway in Nevada...
shanlung Posted May 26, 2015 Looking at least a decade younger than I actually am. Honestly! After doing a series of questions in Facebook a year ago, Facebook declared I was 24 years old. I think that will be better than looking a decade younger. As even if I look a decade younger, I still be as ugly looking as before. Idiotic Taoist who might be younger than all of you.

vonkrankenhaus Posted May 27, 2015 - Just want to say that I appreciate very much the posts thus far in this thread, and I do hope that even more people here will post on this. For something that can involve so much ongoing effort and attention, it would seem to me that people at any level of cultivation would be curious as to the results and effects noted by others. There are lots of ideas and debates here about "how and why" - so this is just about "what" - what happens as a result of whatever it is people have been doing. -VonKrankenhaus
Yasjua Posted May 27, 2015 Practice helped me come full circle to myself. I used to be really weird, self-abusive, lonely, imbalanced, and prone to depression and anxiety. For the first few years my healing discipline of choice (meditation) actually accentuated all of those patterns to a serious degree. I see now that it was a process of energetic and mental disintegration of trauma, ego, fear, and vanity. Those things being shed, a healthier, more stable, social, confident, motivated, passionate, and balanced person emerged. I stopped all practices around the time my inner health began to grow in vitality. I now see a third phase of growth unfolding - a re-immersion into practice from a perspective of health, rather than a perspective of pain. I'm no longer motivated by an escape, but by a curiosity and a love of self, love of life, love of inner unfolding. It is more like I am a rose blooming from within. I know now that my beauty and potential is true, but I am looking for the right sources of nourishment to brave another journey into the soul and proceed along my path of growth. There's so much to be gained - it's not always evident that life is abloom within us. I don't advise people, but my own experience has taught me to be patient and trusting with this process.
shanlung Posted May 29, 2015 Looking younger! Feeling younger! Better control on emotions and not giving a flying fuck to things that used to bother one in the past. Chi running here and there and in dantien and spilling over! All and that wonderful and great even if alone and only that in training in the Tao and to reach the Tao. We might want to consider what else can that be. In which I defer to words of others and plagiarised from a piece I wrote before plagiarising from John Blofeld who in turn plagiarise from Taoist Master Tseng Lao Weng http://www.shanlung.com/oldtaonirvana.html It was interesting that in my puerile curiosity in hunting the hits made on that webpage and locating that originated from here and I made my appearance here. I do hope the words of Taoist Master Tseng Lao Weng can answer a bit of your question even if he did not mention his preferences for music be it classical, hard rock or heavy metal. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have mourned that many of my books stayed back in my home town while I was wandering ,working and staying elsewhere. But a selection of John Blofeld's books followed me. I thought I quote one of my favorite portion from his book 'Taoism, The Secret and Sublime' which may help others understand and decide for themselves if Taoism is a philosophy or a religion. I myself, never did feel that either path is important. He was talking to this Taoist Master Tseng Lao Weng. (now using also his format and capitalizations..) -------------------------------------------------------- Having heard from me of Sir Edwin Arnold's lovely expression for entering Nirvana, 'the dew-drop slips into the shining sea', he exclaimed with delight, but added: 'And yet it does not capture the whole. Since the Tao is all and nothing lies outside it, since its multiplicity and unity are identical, when a finite being sheds the illusion of separate existence, he is not lost in the Tao. By casting off his imaginary limitations, he becomes immeasurable. Plunge the finite into the infinite and, though only one remains, the finite, far from being diminished, takes on the stature of infinity. Such perception will bring you face to face with the true secret cherished by all the accomplished sages. The mind of one who returns to the Source thereby BECOMES the Source. Your own mind is DESTINED TO BECOME THE UNIVERSE ITSELF!'
