Any buddhist temples, orders you can recommend?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am looking for potential buddhist temple to stay at for a year or so, depending. Preferably in europe or asia though continent doesn't matter much for me. It's not really the place that matters, but the atmosphere that's most important. Generally, the nicer and more compassionate the people there, the better :)

 Do you have any recommendations?

Also, tradition doesn't really matter, what is important is that is centered on service like the Zen schools and not on meditation only like some(very few) do it.

In other words I am not really looking for a place with spiritual achievements, but personal achievements, kindness, trust, compassion. I need a place where I will be able to be open about my entity issue. I think that would be for the best. Otherwise, I would be feeling like I would be hiding something important all the time which I don't really want...

Samye ling Scotland. They always welcome volunteers.

You will have to work though unless you have pots of money to pay for your stay.

Well, I am looking for a temple to volunteer at mainly. I have my own meditation practice which I am very satisfied with already. What I am lacking is mindfulness.

There is a temple in Samye Ling.

However this place or any other place wont give you mindfulness.Only you can develop mindfulness.

And if you have your own practice is fine.Nobody will interfere with your practice.

Of course without my willingness nothing will come out of it.

No specific recommendations but I imagine they could use help at some of the monasteries in Nepal right now. The only trouble is that they're struggling to house and feed many of the quake victims as it is. Something to consider, especially if you have skills that can be helpful in the rebuilding efforts.
