Apech Posted July 30, 2015 I was trying-impossible though it is-to illustrate why objective reality is a necessity and not some adage. I don't believe you can hold a concrete concept if the ground on which the concept must be laid is in constant liquidity. It's like trying to build a house directly on a river, absolutely nothing holds up. Subjectivist begin moving to a half way house at some stage because even morals are-for them-highly liquid. There can be no notion of it being wrong to steal or murder. It's all just produced out of the aether of consciousness anyway so nothing can be held as solid. For my own part I can't see much point in continuing to add anything further. Subjectivist will simply see anyone showing them objective reality as being in their subjective conscious creation. I would make more progress talking to a rock :-) I'm not entirely sure what a 'concrete concept' is. But aside from that I think the whole project of 'objective reality' or 'subject reality' is flawed from the get go. Perhaps because the separation of subject and object is conventional in itself - since those words only mean 'thrown in' or 'thrown out'. If you see what I mean.
Nikolai1 Posted July 30, 2015 (edited) Couldn't agree more. This whole thread is actually an embarrassment to all who took part. We really should know better. Edited July 30, 2015 by Nikolai1
Stosh Posted July 30, 2015 It doesn't look like an embarrassment to me ,everyone had their say, considered some alternatives, maintained a bit of tolerance for views we don't or may not share. and nobody got banned. Though everyone pretty much ignored the 'being explanatory' part of speaking to a simple farmer I'd lock it somewhere here if I had that ability, and any side issues could be in a fresh thread. Thanks for everyones input.

Stosh Posted July 30, 2015 "Success" on Daobums = not being in the Pit Its a good standard. And perhaps not such a low bar as it might seem . What would anyone really hope to do ,, seriously , would we still expect to budge, or bludgeon anybody into a totally new word view so easily? I earlier said we were all ,to a degree stubborn , there's reasons for that.
Marblehead Posted July 30, 2015 Zappa :-) Dig out Sheik yer booty tonight. Maybe some beefheart to finish with. I actually don't have any Zappa in my collection. That song I do have but by another group. I do have one Beefheart LP in the collection though.
Marblehead Posted July 30, 2015 Couldn't agree more. This whole thread is actually an embarrassment to all who took part. We really should know better. That gave me a chuckle. This is maybe the fourth thread of this concept that I have taken part in. It's always fun trying to talk about something that can't be talked about.
Karl Posted July 31, 2015 I actually don't have any Zappa in my collection. That song I do have but by another group. I do have one Beefheart LP in the collection though. I have several beef heart albums-safe as milk, TMR, mirror man, clear spot and blue jeans. Extensive and eclectic music collection both vinyl and CD.
