Oneironaut Posted August 25, 2015 (edited) Is there any qigong or meditations for developing spontaneous mindfulness and hyper sensory awareness? I've bumped into a book by Charlotte Selver called Reclaiming Vitality & Presence but I think there are probably better ways to approach this.  I ask because when mindfulness is reached to an almost enlightened level then lucid dreaming/astral projections become as natural as breathing. Edited August 25, 2015 by Oneironaut
PLB Posted August 25, 2015 Â Maybe you are not asking about a technique or method.
Oneironaut Posted August 25, 2015 Then what else can I possibly be asking for?
Songtsan Posted August 25, 2015 Probably sensory deprivation of various sorts will achieve this. If you want better night vision, then go out in dark places often and train that sense. If you want to improve hearing, maybe completely blindfold yourself so you can't see anything, as if you were blind, and so that you focus on hearing ability more. Or play things at a lower volume than you are comfortable with, so that you have to 'penetrate' the sensory data.
thelerner Posted August 25, 2015 I'd recommend finding a martial art teacher who's into the esoteric side. Even 'regular' martial arts are great for heightening the senses. Particularly weapon training.   There's probably no cookie cutter, do this, get that. (cept maybe dropping acid and that's a pretty short term, possibly costly approach) Extraordinary accomplishments will take extraordinary effort over a long time. Plus the hyper sensory awareness cuts both ways.  I hear chimes during the night I can't locate during the day. Trains miles away keep me up. Smells and textures disturb me at night.  Its 5:50 and I've been up for hours. Listening to cars come, the 4:00 paper delivery thunk. Careful what you ask for.
Spotless Posted August 26, 2015 (edited) I have come to know a great many siddhis - I did not set out to attain them - though initially I certainly saw them as guideposts of having achieved something resembling validation regarding what the teachings said would happen along the way. Â Clairaudience is along way beyond hearing trains far away - though heightened regular hearing is totally cool as well. In Clairaudience one can hear the race of a person, the sound of their gender, the pings in the air. Â In clairaudience - telepathy is hearing thoughts as clear as speech but with no air in between - not a percussion experience. Speaking with animals can be just that - actual English speech! Â Telekenesis can be troublesome if you do not have control of your temper - things that "cannot break" will break around you and radios will fry and the bills can be difficult to deal with. Â Clairvoyance makes anger in some people a beautiful thing to watch - if they can control their anger - it is a radiant red crystalline vibration that looks like the waves of a magnetic field or the glint of light that streams from a nighttime headlight. If they are out of control it is not so pretty. Â Clairsentience is a new order of feeling - those with it cannot watch "Americans dumbest videos" it is too painful to watch. It is a great thing to develop if you are an antiques dealer or an acupuncturist. Â Oddly - all of these things are easily accommodated into ordinary awareness - like it is nothing special at all - in fact it is often practically discarded until it is useful. It is fun to practice for awhile because in part it is hard to really believe it is real though much of it is impossible to deny - it is absolutely real and exciting as all hell! Â Neutrality - the kind that comes from many forms of practice - stillness - the transmutation of fuels and higher energies - these lead to all of the Siddhis. Â Intentional suffering is the fastest practice for growth - it is consciously walking away from your noise and all the proclivities that you love about your self and all that you despise in others and all of your positions.
