Yinja Posted August 29, 2015 Hello fellow bums (Sorry about my English skills blahblahblah hehe) I'd like to guide my new female partner through a meditation session. not only to get more intimate with her which is nice but also to help her deal with stuff I think she is hiding deep down. Some background, she were sexually abused at early age(able to talk about it) and bulimic in her past. Highly dependent on weed, having trouble sleeping or having sex without it. If you may help me find afew helpful instruction and maybe a few inspiring quotes that would be very helpful and I will sure appreciate it since im not the most fluent with words. One last thing when I do meditations with other I tend to absorb some of their !"£$ (could be?) Maybe there is a way to avoid it and if not maybe a fast way to treat it. Thanks in advance It means a lot
Miffymog Posted August 29, 2015 Be slightly careful with going down a 'healing' route with your partner with out a bit more experience of that stuff yourself. As you said, you tend to absorb other people's **** in this kind of thing. Taking it on board with out knowing the right techniques of freeing yourself could do you no good. It's probably best just being a good partner for her in normal ways, which will be helping her hugely, and then encouraging her to seek help from someone more experienced and skilled.
thelerner Posted August 31, 2015 (edited) A great resource is at http://www.yoganidranetwork.org/downloads. Yoga Nidra is an Indian style of guided meditation. The link has many excellent and free versions of it. All are excellent for getting a person into a deep state of relaxation. They are notable for having you set a minor wish/request early on. Many address specific areas such as sleep, pain relief, developing the third eye, minor bio-feedback. Good stuff that puts the listener in the area between awake and asleep. Probably better to start out with short ones, like Raquel Lyons Short nap nidra and work up to Theo Wildcrofts 42 minute Beach and Stars. They're all very good. You can find other Yoga Nidra gems on various internet sites. Should be great to listen to and discuss afterwards. No special headphones needed, just need enough space to lay down. Or you may want to try a series like Anna Wise's Higher Performance Mind. Her guided meditations are from a scientific bend, starting with Deep Relaxation then moving you to develop specific brain waves. Good stuff and relatively inexpensive. Available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/annawise, the key ones are 2, 1 and 4. Edited August 31, 2015 by thelerner

thelerner Posted August 31, 2015 (edited) Hi thelerner - just tried the links in the above post and they didn't work for me I'm afraid. Sorry about that, try http://www.yoganidranetwork.org/ and go to Downloads. For Anna Wise meditations go to cdbaby.com and look her up. It's available on amazon.com also. On CDbaby its $2.99 for each meditation. All the stuff on yoga nidra network is free. I particularly like Theo Wildcrafts work. Wildred's suggestion reminded me of http://www.diydharma.org/ which has a huge amount of meditations and dharma talks (Abrahm Brahm talks are very insightful). I'd recommend its better to go deep. Listening to one a dozen times is better then listening to a dozen once. The more you listen the deeper the 'grooves' are. So while its good to explore, its also important to find favorites and let them go deep. Edited August 31, 2015 by thelerner
