So, it must be a virus ... $100 clean up and out and it works great! ... for 2 days, problem returns.

 

Oh, its that old internet stick.  Get it 'tested' - it is fine.

 

Oh ... those things cant handle all the new updated programs  and blah blah ..... get this wi-fi thing (another $100 )  great, works fantastic .... for 3 days.

 

Then ....  no, I won't bother explaining .... to many things happened, including  some sites work some dont.  Some sites do some things and not others, some times cant copy of paste or get images or .... any particular arrangement of banning or allowing ...  

 

and internet connection dropping in and out, saying it is connected when it isnt and visa versa 

 

So today, I decide to try it with its recharge lead plugged into the computer (even though the wifi battery still has 1/2 charge )  and even though it is wireless and that lead is only supposed to charge it , and the wi fi is supposed to run multiple things in the house .... it has fixed the problem

 

... when it is plugged in, everything works fine,  really good actually .... WTF !

Need I say make sure your virus protections are up to date, that includes third party and Microsoft various updates like Defender.  As a secondary protection try SpyBot, its not a main defense but as second line in the sand it works differently the most.  Just make sure you download it from the right source.

Message ???    I didnt even know I had a virus until the computer technician said mine was full of them ....

They installed a virus protection but when I picked up the computer from them and they told me this, I asked them about it ... and got no response ... I framed my question 3 times in different ways and each time I got a response that had nothing to do with my question ... now I have to click on that programme multiple times for it to come up, it doesnt run and when it does says no threats found ... what ? not even the one that stops it running ?

That was the first of the problems ... I did that and it wiped out my internet connections and hasnt seemed to re install them properly since ... except today and  2 days ago when I run the computer with the charge lead plugged inbto the wi fi , then no probs occur at all .

No ... my final solution is to throw the laptop through the window out into the forest .... its getting close , and if it wasn't for it working when the charge lead is plugged in ....

One of the first things I would have asked you to try would have been to plug straight in to your modem (or router if they were the same device). Wi-Fi routers seem particularly fragile and susceptible to lightning damage.

Or going back further you broke open your father's abacus, scattering the beads to the four winds.  Until you've worked on yourself, how can you work on computers?  Until your drives are clean and pure, how can you expect your hard drives to be any better? 

 

 

More seriously, since you're not getting a message it could be a malfunction not a virus.  If things are stopping mysteriously without a message.  Heat build up can cause computers to stop.  If it happens after the computers been on for a while, it could be heat. 

 

In which case you can download an program that'll tell you on top how hot your computer running- some will allow you to adjust the fans to go faster.   Make shut down programs your done with, ie don't run multiple programs at once, the more multi-tasking the hotter the computer runs, the more likely of shut down.   Lastly you can buy fan coolants that run under the computer and keep it cooler.

 

Or anointing the machine with precious oils and few sacred chants to the capricious electronic gods may also work.

I have so many less troubles since I changed from Windows to Ubuntu. I still have my Windows on the same hard disk drive though because I have a few important "Windows only" programs. But especially for surfing, I find Ubuntu much better. Viruses and some other annoyances become a non-issue. Surely, other Linux distributions are cool, too.

Its rather disconcerting to read porn site and virus in the same sentence     ... cant someone invent an internet condom ? 

 

 

Rule 1 for looking at porn sites ;

 

if, at first you cant quiet make out what the hell you are looking at .... look away quickly ... do not try to figure out what it is.

I use AdBlock Plus plugin as my digital condom. It's really more for the Russian sites where I get my software and videos from.

Running a Linux on a bootable cd or usb is a good way to check for hardware trouble, if it works fine on linux the hardware should be fine.

 

Maybe some program stress test program for the cpu to check if there is a power consumption problem. I'm thinking the cpu is going in to power save and does not work properly or a battery problem, but its a fare fetched idea.

 

Might be a BIOS issue , or other hardware problems if you have updated your OS.

Not as far fetched as you would think. Often times computers have trouble when the hard drive spins down and CPU gets clocked down. I'd recommend disabling certain power saving settings to see if that helps.

Battery problem ... can a bad battery cause weird stuff (like I am having )  to happen ? 

 

My 'tech understanding' is;  if it turns on - battery working ....battery problem - doesnt start. 

 

(Dont tell me this is all from needing a new battery ?   .... Oi !      )
