Conducting poll

Several websites have a feature where a member can start a poll, rather than starting a thread in order to see some common data that he maybe interested in.  Starting a thread, and everyone replying to it, and then the member going through it manually and collecting that data is cumbersome. In addition, it does not offer the privacy that a poll offers where the voters remain anonymous. 

 

I would very much like that in this forum, as i think i want to conduct a poll here.  Knowing software, i guess this is very easy to provide in a website. So, i submit it for consideration of whoever owns this site or manages it.  Thank you.

When you start a new topic, to the upper right is "Manage Topic Poll".

 

I think you can hide individual responses or they will be shown how members voted by name.

Yes, but the mobile rendition doesn't present that option (unless you switch to Full Version...)

I should probably point out that you can switch back by using the "Use Mobile Version" in bottom-left corner.

Forum polls can be fun, but they're rarely informative. And keep in mind that the results don't provide any statistics representative of the membership of the website, or even of the active members (who make up a very small percentage of the total number of members). A poll only shows you what the people who responded to that poll think.

 

Poll threads invariably become discussion threads, btw.

 

But maybe you have a few really good ideas for insightful polls. I'd be very interested in that!
